California.

I hate to tell you this but various forms of this spider are all over the world.  :P

That's great - thanks for the info!

I am grateful now that I live on a cold, wet island in the middle of nowhere.  Creepy crawlies couldn't survive here.

after sex or whatever spiders do to get pregnant,

I'm pretty sure all animals have to actually have sex to get pregnant.

But...I'm no scientist!

But I find the best way to keep the black widows out is to keep the other bugs out.  So we have a spray service come around every other month.  At my last house, they were everywhere. Yuk.

I thought we were the only place with redbacks! Well, there you go - you do learn something new every day.

In my expert opinion ( ;)) I think you have so many black widows because you are spraying so much! You need to have good spiders (like daddy long legs) around to keep the nasty ones away.

I'm such a bogan when it comes to shoes. I go barefoot wherever I can get away with it, including around the horses with all the snakes and spiders... I drive in barefeet, do the supermarket shopping, any other little errands. I've also been known to go supermarket shopping in my pyjamas...Typical bogan, however upper class I may be in other ways.

Comfort and laziness always wins...It's bitten me in the arse a few times though, I've been stepped on by more than one of my horses and I cut myself on rocks and glass a fair bit too, plus, you've never seen feet so black as when you go to the supermarket barefoot.

I never have shoes on inside (except for my feet-husband (slippers) in winter) but my feet are such sooky la-las! I can't even walk across my back lawn barefoot without being in agony! And I can't drive barefoot! My feet are too short (size 5) and and I can't reach the pedals properly unless I have shoes on!

I doubt it  - it's a load of horlicks in my opinion.  I've tried everything and it has had no impact on flavour!!

Bugger - why does everything have to be different in every country!

All I know for sure is that it's almost impossible to buy nice shoes that fit without spending a fortune!

OK - googling shoe sizes...

Women's Size 5 in Australia is Size 4 in UK, Size 6 1/2 in US and 37 in Europe.

I have a broad foot though - so will sometime buy a Size 7 or 8 and stuff it with tissues and spend the night feeling like I'm wearing clown shoes!

Got to spray or we get over run with ants.  As in covering the counters in the kitchen and bathrooms. I think the house was built on an anthill.  Hell, the whole desert is one big anthill.  And they bite.

But really, the spray kills the bugs that the black widows eat, so the go elsewhere for food.  When we don't spray? Yeah, they are all over.  Though really, they like the dark places.  So the garage & shed.  I usually don't bother the daddy longlegs, but I haven't seen many around here.

Yucko! I get ants, but only if I forget to vacuum up a dead cockroach, or if we're about to get rain. And they're usually just the little black ants. We also have green ants - their bites sting and throb like a bitch!, meat ants and fire ants were brought in accidentally about 8 years ago, but they seem to be pretty contained. Then there are the white ants (termites) that eat their way through EVERYTHING! I get my house checked twice a year for white ants because they will totally destroy a house if not detected and treated.

I don't squish ants - they stink too much when they're squished!

Now, I've got giant feet.  Though not as big as my younger, shorter sister.  But still? 9.5 US is hard to find nice shoes.  I usually have to get 10's.  Though then I have room for those gel things. ;)

Ours fortunately don't stink when you squoosh them.  Because I will squish them left and right when they show up.  :o

We get fire ants as well, though usually the ones in the house are a type of black ant.  We also get termites, but they take a while to do a lot of damage.

I'm a 37.5 or 4 1/2 which is considered small considering my Daughter is size 3 at 10.  I don't really know as I have always been called small.  I am only 5 2/3 at the most.   Am I normal??

OK - ask that question somewhere they know the answer.   :D

Bull ants! I never squish them 'cause when you squish a bull ant, aside from the fact they're bloody hard to kill, it brings out the rest of them to attack, and a Bull ants bite hurts like a B*tch. One of the girls I ride with is anaphylactic to bull ants. Nasty things.

As for shoes. I'm a size 39, so UK 6 or US 8.5, my mum and sister are size 40/41 (so US 9/ 9.5) but my cousin is a size 43! She is a monster foot! In my family, I have small feet. At 5"6 I'm also one of the shortest. Although I am taller than my mother now! Ha.

I think you're perfectly normal - but look who you're asking!

People always comment about the size of my hands and feet - thank goodness I'm not a guy!

I'm about 5' 3/4 ish. Most 7 year olds have bigger hands than I do.

Men get really excited when they notice how small my hands are - I think it's a perspective thing - you know how when you put something small against something, it makes the other thing look bigger?

My mum is 4'11 and a half - she always makes sure we say "and a half". I tell her that now that she is almost 70, she should measure herself again, in case she shrinks.

She tells me something really rude.

Mum rarely swears, but we don't joke about her height!

My grandmother was 4'6. My grandfather was 6'4 - and the runt of his family!

I'm not sure how that works (and I really don't want to even imagine it) but they had 4 children.
