Other times, I've seen really interesting story ideas, but you can tell the "writers" are either teens or don't know how to write because the flow is totally missing.  "...I saw Alice.  She looked really nice today.  I said "Hi Alice, you look really nice today"  She thanked me. "Thank you," said Alice. We then walked up the steps into the school...."  Yeah, I can't read it for long.

I'm a Beta with SRP which kind of makes me laugh.  I thought I was signing up for spelling and grammar checks - because I get so annoyed with some of the misuses of words - "Edward touches her arm and she shutters with the electricity..."  Um, shutters are those things that hang on houses.  Near the windows.  People shudder. 

Anyway, I ended up as a prereader.  WTH? I don't know anything about writing.  Ah well, my two writers seem to like my suggestions.

And I know that "smelt" may be more common across the pond but it drives me NUTS to see it in fics. In fact, I usually flounce, I'm that picky about it. I started a fic the other day and smelt was listed 6 times in one paragraph "I smelt Edward. He smelt so good, like musk and woods and boy. I've never smelt anyone like him before and it was driving me crazy" etc. And that was the last paragraph i read of that fic. I see smelt and I think "It's a FISH or has something to do with metal. Use SMELLED"

I submitted my fic to SRP but I didn't like the pre reader I had. Wasn't very helpful. Then I got busy and my month finished. Need to resubmit so I can get my stuff up and running again.

I really hate reading that. Spelling mistakes and the incorrect word being used make me a flounce bunny. I see one I figure it's gonna be the same throughout the fic. Shame really, esp when I'm enjoying the fic.

In the Big Webster Dictionary my parents have.  Not the Microsoft one full of misspellings.  Who the heck says "Whilst"  I guess if they are British, but when Bella is American living in Seattle, she is not going to say whilst.

Ah, I started that one.  Not sure why it is still sitting there unfinished.  Must be my ADD. And Wide Awake and Hydraulic Level 5.  Sigh....  I start so many, put them down & then can't remember what I was reading.  *scratches head and thinks "it was here somewhere"*   

I need to make a list that can be accessed everywhere.

Truthfully, I think their test is too easy.  I do read a lot & got A's in English, but I am not a writer.  I really don't have enough knowledge on how to help someone write a story.  I can just say what doesn't work for me.  And maybe suggest a few things.  I mean, I can tell when it doesn't work, but I can't necessarily tell them how to actually fix it.  I really think a Beta should know enough to suggest ways to fix it.

But that is my opinion. 

I do enjoy helping as much as I can.

Yusssss! Saying "There needs to be more dialogue here" doesn't help me  It didn't even go to beta because I added more and sent it back and never got a reply.

Was Buried Amongst the Begonias ever completed?  I found incomplete copies everywhere and she used to update on twcs but I don't recall her ever finishing it, do you mind sharing if you have it?
