Usually? The second chances are for fics that are good (at least according to everyone else) but that I'm not in the mood for at the time. Like Grasping Darkness - I just couldn't concentrate on it when I tried to read it. But it looks good & I think I just have to get past the first few chapters.

I don't give second chances to bad fics.

I thought you meant that you'd give second chances to bad fics

I haven't started Grasping Darkness but it's on my TBR list, I started Dear Maggie but stopped because I wasn't in the mood for it...I had just finished blubbering my way through This is my Wish and couldn't cope with another sad fic (I assume it is).

I don't know if I've said this before but if I have I will say it again......you guys on here are AWESOME!!!!

I flounce when there are grammatical errors. Incorrect words "Homonyms" make me want to stab my eye with a pen. Biggest pet peeve ever! Please if you say you have a beta and they miss things like this, no matter how good the story line I'm outta there.

Isn't that so annoying? I understand the homonym problem as spell check will never catch a correctly spelled word used incorrectly. But when they don't even use spell check, I get a little annoyed. And a good beta should catch these things. But I've read stories by some of these "betas" and they can't spell either. *shakes head* Though some can put a story line together. $:-\$

LOL! My worst problem is starting a story, losing it to a dead battery or stopping to look at something else, and forgetting what I was reading. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm usually reading about 3 completed and 4 or 5 WIPs at a time. So I'm not always sure if that is flouncing, but there are a lot out there I haven't finished.

Well, there are story betas and technical betas - the first help with the organizing the storyline and correcting things like the flow. Though if they are good, they will catch the spelling and grammar errors. The technical betas are supposed to catch the grammar and spelling errors. And I think a lot of the "betas" on FFnet are writers who are not necessarily good, but are popular.

I will say, as a person who has to write at work - you can't proofread your own writing. Your eyes don't see the errors because your brain is telling you what you expect to see. And the more you read it, the less you see. Probably applies to betas that help with the writing too.

Yessss. And heterographs!

Please people, learn the difference between "Whether she will show up to the party" and "weather she will show up to the party". And for the love of God I do not understand why there are so many people (my husband included) who do not know the difference between their, they're and there. These KILL me and if there are too many I start to focus on the mistakes and not the fic. I want to red pen the $hit out of it lol

When did people stop using proper plural and possessive forms? If we're talking about the Cullens, that's plural - NO apostrophe. If we're talking about the Cullens' house - that's plural possessive. If we're talking about Edward Cullen's house - that's singular possessive. I see the plural possessive error on everything from Christmas cards to published books. It makes me crazy! It's not Merry Christmas from the Cullen's - it's Merry Christmas from the Cullens. Rant over.

I just don't get it. Soul-Mates do not cheat period. If one cheats they are not meant for each other, and in my world E/B are meant for each other so therefore there is no cheating lol. Easy cheesy peesy lol

Oh, yeah, me too! I forgot to mention that I only like Edward and Bella stories and will only do cheating stories if there is a valid reason (like a huge misunderstanding or presumed death) and then an HEA for E&B!

There are alot I haven't finished either....I really hate when a story starts out really good but then just seems to fizzle half way through, I don't have the time or patience to continue reading something when that happens. I stopped reading WIP's because I can't cope if they leave me hanging when something bad has happened.

One year I went the photo Christmas card route. The drug store I ordered the cards from "corrected" my salutation and added an apostrophe when I neither wanted nor needed one. I was livid. I can't remember now if I made them fix it or just made do, but they did not get any more business from me.

I like M fics - that's why I read fanfiction. I want them to do dirty things, but if the author isn't experienced, then don't write lemons. Bad lemons can ruin a fic and if you'd just 'fade to black' it would be fine.

One of my biggest pet peeves is whenever I have to read about 'his dripping member'. Geez people there's medication for that these days!!! [/rant]
