Looking for Story Rec's?

I have a couple questions for you guys....I've just flounced on a fic because halfway through it bored me....so these are my questions....

1.  Who is your favourite author?

2.  What are you reading now?

I'm looking for inspiration on what to read now.

1.  There is no way that I could narrow down a favourite author.  I'm not even sure I could make a list of top 10 favourite authors!!

2.  At the moment I'm re-reading Running by Merina Green You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.  I just love her take on possessive Vampsper!!  She's working on a third in the series so I figured I'd re-read the first two and hope that she finishes the third soon

Ok. I wasn't going to say anything, but there's no such thing as "could of", it's "could've" or "could have".

I want to rant too!
It may be nit picky; but contractions are one of my pet peeves, specifically, the nonuse of them in dialogue. "I cannot..." people don't talk like that!

Evening/Morning/Afternoon all,

It is comical to come home after a 14 hour day brain dead and read to get caught up on the thread. Some days you all are just what the Dr. ordered to get my head turned back around.

It seems I am always late to the discussions and wind up just summarizing my thoughts into one post. Most days that cannot be helped, so I hope everyone understands.

There are a few that I have flounced, but in all honestly, I get my stories from rec's. For years we had Sinful Sunday's at RAoR and we talk about fics. It wasn't unheard of having 300+ comments a day. Today, I still go by rec's. I have several sites I get them from now and groups on facebook.

Unless it is an author I know and have read, I wait until I hear more than one person rec a story, before I even attempt it.

Currently I have about a dozen or so wips I am reading, and while I wait for updates, I read a completed one. Right now I am reading a book as my completed story.

So the very few that I have flounced is usually the writing. If I have to try and think about what you really meant to say, then I am outta there. The story should flow. Fairly easy to read. When there is a blatant disregard to the English language, it causes me to pause, maybe re-read and that just messes up the plot line and the point of me reading.

Now, I want to express, I am by no means an expert, and a few words here or there, will not cause me to flounce. I make errors all the time, but then again, I could never be a writer.

Commas, semi-colons, colons, etc, usually do not bother me as much. Just like our posts here, or other places, I can read through those. I have an issue myself with figuring out which to use "affect" or "effect", but is just my hang up.

I have grown children. I want to read M stories. I don't want to attempt to read someone who sounds like they are 10. I am becoming more sensitive to past, present, and future. I can do it easily myself, but I certainly try to keep the same tense throughout the SAME sentence.

I also want my HEA. I don't ever want to do slash, but have read it by mistake. It was a one-shot by a very popular author and it never really said it was slash. I only knew it when she snickered at me for reading something I said I never would. I want canon pairings and cheating.....uh....no. Oh and I have read one Jasper/Bella story only because it ended that way instead of E & B, but it is safe to say I am monogamous with E & B.

One more.  What's the deal with wonder?  You wonder with your brain.  You wander with your feet, although your thoughts can also wander.  Your feet, however, do not wonder.

Specially item 1. I think i've read at least 4 diff. authors that made that mistake.

i just take these and other grammatical errors in stride specially if the story is good. I understand what they're trying to say but i always smile and shake my head when i come across these "errors"

Cheating and rape are no nos for me so am glad for the summaries and warnings given by you gals. I've only read E And B pairings to date. Haven't read any slash and other pairings yet, dont think I will start any time soon as I still have a ton of ExB stories to go through. HEA is also a must for me.

About endearments, i find it sweet when they say "love" or "my love" but sometimes it gets to me and makes me cringe when it is said too often. I've never really heard anyone in real life call their better half that endearment. "Darling, sweetheart, honey", i've commonly heard but never will these words ever be said by me... Cringe cringe.  My hubby is "babe" or "dad"

I think I'm like you, I couldn't narrow my favourite author down either.  However, I must say that I can't read anything other than E & B, that's Twilight for me.

Yeah can't narrow it to just one there are several.

Favorite author....hmmm.... that is hard.  I love CaraNo as my go to when I'm not sure what to read.  I enjoy SuddenlySandi and SavannaVanSmutSmut for their amusing characters.  I've liked everything I've read by Emmamama88.  Oh and GeorgeyGirl is great. 

I read so many different authors it's hard to say who would be my favorite.

I just finished Edward Cullen, Dick for Hire by fictionfreak95 - it was good
also I just finished Bella & the Bachelor and another similar one that I can't remember the name of - oh sorry - of which I can't remember the name

1. This is SO hard so I'll give three of my favorites: Ooohlalaaa, Jandco and Angstgoddess03....I LOVE her angst hardcore.

Ooohlalaaa isn't posting anymore but I loved every one of her fics....some of the only one's (is that apostrophe right? It doesn't seem so?)  I will re-read anytime.
