Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

I started to read it.  I was wishing she had a plastic knife or fork when the pervy guy touched her.  I figured the past, as not wanting to be touched is a normal reaction after an attack.  But I'm only on the first chapter.  I got distracted when Jklly posted how to import your favs/alerts from ffnet into Excel on facebook.  Now I can actually track when stories disappear.  ;D

Did she post that on the fic hunters group? I need to do that, I've had 6 disappear this week and it's driving me crazy :33:

I was hoping she would do some damage to those a$$holes

I have my caliber libraries linked to drop box and Google drive, and can access it anywhere I have the apps. It's easy.

I didn't know you could do that! I haven't even really explored all of what calibre can do, I need to figure out how to link them up like you did

If I'm remembering right, you run the welcome wizard, when it asks where you want your library, you point it to your drop box folder, and it moves all your books to the new location. Back it up though, just in case.

I'd have to set up a new drive since my Google drive is full of those zip files I'm sharing.  I have DropBox but my Calibre library is almost 5 GB, so I'm not sure how that would work.  Though it isn't a bad idea.

I do want to be able to access the library offline.  Sigh... I really need it to sync I guess.  DropBox or Sugarsync would probably be good.  Hmm.

But thanks for the idea.  I'll have to do more research on this... :-*

Bugs the heck out of me too when the name turns into something like "ForReviewOnly" and 0 stories.

I'm attaching the instructions, but I give all credit to jklly!

My most recent flounce is My Mate, My Love by BobbisMomma

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

When Edward see's his mate nothing matters but her. He will do anything for her and will give up anything for her.. For his life is now all about her. NO ONE better think badly about her. NO ONE better get in his way. Nothing will stop him from claiming what is his.
Rated: Fiction M - English - Romance - Edward & Bella - Chapters: 10 - Words: 94,417 - Reviews: 168 - Favs: 174 - Follows: 167 - Updated: 12-16-12 - Published: 07-29-12 - Status: Complete - id: 8373109

Got sucked in from the summary and was met with bad grammar, bad story flow and ridiculous characters. All of characters are above and beyond normal that it's laughable. I stuck with it till the end but I regret doing so.

I started reading this when it was called My Mate and then she pulled it to redo it and correct the errors etc....apparently not  :D

Do you have Microsoft Skydive? I don't know if they are still doing this, but when I signed up they were offering 25gb for free

But access offline would be so nice

For sure. Ive had 3 computers crash on me (seriously, Dell sucks lol) so I back up everything.

All my fic are on a flash drive and on 3 different clouds.

Photos and music are on an external hard drive. But need to back up soon.

I'm an HP girl myself, though I now have a Lenovo desktop. But if it's just the hard drive, those are easy to change out.

That's why I have things split- my regular books go into the Dropbox Calibre library, and my fanfic goes into the Google Drive library.

There are a lot of ways to get more space in Dropbox without paying, I went from 2gb to 4 just doing their stuff. Liking on FB and Twitter, taking their tour, inviting other people to join (they actually have to install dropbox for you to get the credit).

One of these days I might bite the bullet and buy space, and pay for it once a year to keep it up, but so far it's working for me.

Now I do have a couple external drives with craptons of books on them. Only books I have definite plans to read someday end up in calibre, I'd never be able to add everything I've downloaded in the past few years.

Hmm, so if I refer to myself, would that work?  I may have enough email accounts to do it!  :D :D :D :D

I think about paying.  I have too much stuff though.  My music folder is around 170 GB - okay there are movies, but really?  I have a lot of books on CDs.  I listen to them when I drive, keeps me from getting annoyed at all those $#%$# drivers.  California is made up of so many people who weren't born here and learned to drive here, that the roads are crazy.  No one drives the same way.  Well, I could go on a big rant, but I'll leave it.  Anyway, I deal better if I'm listening to something interesting.  So lots of audio files.

My Calibre file probably has stuff I will never read, but I don't know how to track it all in separate libraries.  Well, real books in one, fanfiction in another. But separating out the fanfiction without accidentally re-adding stories in the other folder? I will have to think about that.

If you've got separate computers to install it on. I have a laptop, hubby has a desktop, so I referred to him and he installed it, although he has no intentions of using it.

I cant remember exactly how i made two Calibre libraries, but it's in the library section, just fiddle around with it. Like I said, backup first, always! But you can make as many libraries as you need, then switch between them with one click.

Hmmm,  I have lots of computers.  Some of which barely work.  But enough to install a program LOL!

Yes, it is fairly easy to set up multiple libraries and to switch between them.  But you do have to remember which one you are in when you add books.  Or download fanfic.  I once started downloading into my regular ebooks library and then had to move them all into the ff library.  Not hard but time consuming.  You can't do anything while it is moving them.

I was doing that, but it was getting hard to track what i had and what I didn't have.  Calibre lets me do that.  And it doesn't add stuff I already have, which I really love.  I have it set to only update if there are new chapters.  On occasion it tells me there are less chapters on the web version than on Calibre.  So I don't accidentally overwrite something that has been deleted.

But maybe? making a TBR library? without removing it from the main ff library.  You have the choice when you transfer to either keep or remove the files.

I use the series field in calibre to identify Fanfiction.  I'll type "Fanfiction Twi Bella & Edward" or whatever is appropriate.  Just remember whatever formula you use stick to it, that helps in finding and excluding fanfictions.

I need to make some kind of document to keep on my Nexus that has all the tags and other relevant info, because late at night when I want something out of my library, I can pull up dropbox or drive, but it's all listed by author. I need to either find a better way to sort, or make a spreadsheet or something.

Any ideas for someone who really has no clue about spreadsheets and office software?

A spreadsheet for your tags? So to list your fics, the authors and the tags so that you can find a specific type of story?

I dunno, a list of all the fics in my library, by pairing. Like, Bella/Jasper human, Bella/Jasper vamp, vampward, actorward, etc etc. Sometimes I want an actorward, my laptop is under the bed, and I can't remember what the actorwards are.

I need a list on my tablet to refer back to. I'm sure I'll figure something out when I decide to do something about it.

What if you add tags to your calibre entries? That's what I do and it makes it pretty convenient to find a specific fic based on what I'm in the mood for. I have the 'wards, pariring, genre, etc as tags.

Then, if you decide to do that, you can access your library via the browser (Though I never have had luck with it) or get the calibre app and you can access it by that as well. You can search by tags, author, date, title, etc via the app. The nice thing is that now flagfic will fetch the tags when you download, so a lot of the works is done.

I tried both a spreadsheet and word program for summaries and tags, I couldn't keep up with it. Too much maintenance for me. I would enter it in, then need to save and send it to google drive, dropbox, etc so that I could still access from my phone and meh. I quit at about 500 some odd fics. Now that I have 2200 I couldn't imagine the length the doc would be.

HTH :)

I have everything tagged in calibre. Ok, most everything, some AU ones I have no clue what type of story they are, lol. I also have the calibre app for my tablet, but have never figured out how to sync it up with my library on my laptop, the ip addresses throw me every time.
