Because of you awesome ladies I have set up a number of Calibre libraries.  One for fanfiction, one for stuff I love and or want to read, one for anything that comes my way. 

Calibre is one of those programs that seems overly complicated at first, then it seems really easy once you figure out the basics, then the more you tinker wtih it, the more you figure out you can actually do with it.

So true. I used to hate Calibre, I deleted and re-downloaded constntly But now, I admit I've grown addicted... But I only use it for books. My archive is HUGE (for me at least) and it only gets more complicated when I add books AND fanfics, no matter the tags. The authors' names were getting all messed up, so in the end I removed everything fanfiction. Now I use Excel to keep track of FF. Sometimes I wish I had two Calibre libraries. Or two laptops (How cool would that be? )


Back to the topic at hand, another flounced fic: Be My Master Head Master? by rbsschess

Summary: Entry for the Forbidden Lemon Contest - Bella is about to graduate high school and is looking for a Dom. Edward is the Head Master at her school and he is who she wants. Problem - he is married, has kids, a friend of her father and 35. Can she get him?

This one is a complete mess It was a one-shot turned multi-chapter, but I actually flounced from the very first chapter

I laughed so hard at this, I mean, who says that stuff?! I just couldn't see past that phrase, especially given the other mistakes.
I know people who loved this fic, but even if you get past the all-over-the-place plot, the writing was pretty bad as well.

**This was has a pretty good plot, and I stuck with it as long as I possibly could but the grammar and spelling seemed to get worse the further on I read. Usually I flounce early on it there are as many mistakes as this one had, but I stuck it out, hoping it would improve....it did not. The misspellings and heterograph confusion finally did me in and I gave this the flick.

I once flounced a fic, where Renee drove Bella to the hospital of Alaska (seems there is only one...). It's supposed to be December and they have an accident, the car crashed and Bella flew out of the window against a tree. There she was, half conscious, not able to move (she damaged her spine), watching her mother burning with the car. Yeah, all very tragic and so on, but Bella sat there, in Alaska, in December on the green grass and it rained, water dropping on her from the leaves of the tree... Global warming much? When something tragic happens to the characters and you can't stop laughing because of the absurdity of it all, you should flounce...
(it wasn't an English fic, so I don't bother to look it up for you...)

I read another mama4dukes story, Breaking Free. I had the same feeling- it just felt overly cheesy and odd....in this one, Victoria is there watching when Edward leaves Bella in the woods, comes to the conclusion that James treated her like dirt, just like Edward did Bella, so she changes her so she'd have a friend. They live together for a long time (as friends) and do all sorts of silly things, before going to work as waitresses in some fancy place, where they run into the Cullens, Alice is a total bitch, Rosalie and Emmet finally leave the Cullens, I think Edward is with Tanya now (I kinda don't remember) and it was just a crazy, chaotic, messed up story.

So even though the synopis for Life Happens LOOKS like something I'd like, I've been wary to start it, looks like I was right.

Just for the record, I enjoyed the fics from mama4dukes. Not much real drama but much to giggle about. When you don't try to take the story and plot seriously, they are a fun read. Life happens... is a bit boring and repetive in the end, it seems as if the reviews asked her to go on and she didn't find a good end. It could have been shorter, but she had many funny ideas and dissected the holy Cullens, showing them their flaws... Hey she made Alice a manager for Walmart! It's like a soap opera gone vamp.

But I like that threat because I found some fics that were hilarious to read! 

You were actually brave enough to read German fics? I always have to laugh a lot because most writing in German sounds so silly. There were three HP fics written in German that I read. While I liked the plot, I would have preferred them in English because the writing is slightly better (or I don't recognize the mistakes they make ). My dislike for German writing has gone so far that I stopped to read translated books (beginning with the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix).

I started reading German fanfiction 2011. I had no idea that there was so much out there! lol
There are a few pretty good German fics out there, but they are few and far between. The German Twilight fandom seems to be overrun by 13year old girlies, that try to write lemons...  THAT is blech! You really have to dig deep to find anyrthing worth reading... Then I found translated stories there and I started reading I think the translation of "Life's little choices" But it wasn't finished, only the first two chapters and it seemed abandoned. But it had a functioning link. Woohoo! I never looked back!
Like you I stopped reading translated "real" books way before reading fanfiction, because the translations were crappy. I never read the Twilight translations and still don't get the series in the right order...
Now I'm glad to have found tuebl here, good fanfics to enjoy and bad ones to laugh about...

Just in case, on your current library, click on the pic along the top that is the books, and has the number of books in your library under it (Calibre logo). From the drop down menu you'll see "Switch/Create library". That's what you want

I even use it to break the DRM on any books I buy.

I think it can do so much more than what I've even discovered yet.

This is why I started using it.

Then I found fanfiction Downloader.  So great!  And the columns I have summaries right there. Without having to open each one.  I know if it's complete, how many chapters, how many words or pages, the characters, the type of story.....

So now i have 2 libraries.  One for regular books and one for fanfiction.
