Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

Ok, my first flounce to add to this thread- Gynazole by MrsTheKing.

Someone requested this in another thread, it was linked to, so I skimmed the beginning. First of all, Bella is so uncomfortable with "woman" stuff, she goes so far as to order all her tampons and stuff online! (I'm guessing she's also a virgin?) Then she ends up with a yeast infection, and Edward is the MOST inappropriate pharmacist ever. Yes, it was his first day, but damn!

And the author is one of those who consistently uses "defiantly" when she means "definitely".

I got to the meeting with her guidance counselor at college, who sits in a bean bag chair, calls her Bellar, and seems to be a blithering idiot, and flounced. I like funny little fluffy fics, but this one just comes across as badly written and stupid.

Wasn't this fic published? I didn't like it either... I think I read up until she shits her pants and then flounced ( although that accident was a little funny!)

I just came across this thread... I have a feeling I'll be here a lot!

This is hands down one of the worst things I've read. Some of the things just make me wonder  :wtf:

It was too late to flounce that one (although I almost did many times), Help Wanted by jaxon22, in the end

Hey, funny coincidence:
I thought hard of the name of that one fic i couldn´t stand to finish to post it here and when I went searching for the author on PTS, I found it was already mentioned here.

I´ve read a lot, even long and repetitive but this story was just to boring and damn loooong...
However I flounced it after about a third in.

Anyone who liked the story? Was there something more to the plot towards the end?

PS: Hope you get my english as I´m not a native speaker

Are you asking about Help Wanted? If it picked up at the end?

This is why I started using it.

Then I found fanfiction Downloader.  So great!  And the columns I have summaries right there. Without having to open each one.  I know if it's complete, how many chapters, how many words or pages, the characters, the type of story.....

So now i have 2 libraries.  One for regular books and one for fanfiction.  ;D

Ella, I have a couple questions for you: You use the ffn downloader plug-in, right? I *think* you mentioned on another thread that you set it up to pull the pairings for fics you download-how did you do that? I figured out the pages, chapters, etc and got that all set up but can't figure out the pairings.

Oh, and when you enter in your u/n and psswd under the personal.ini what do you leave/remove on the characters and words that were there already? The couple ways I tried it didn't work and actually wouldn't let me grab from FFn until I removed it  >:(

Yesterday, I flounced a fic. It was You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login by ADADancer. When I first saw it, I got really excited because I have this weird obsession with twin stories and loved the book when I was a kid. But I didn't even get to the twins meeting for the first time. The writing wasn't good, especially not when EP and Tolkien are still on my mind. Also, the author felt it was necessary to tell the characters' background right in the beginning (which is something I absolutely dislike).

Also, this was written in the first chapter.
I wasn't too impressed.

I flounced this author. Her fics were just bad.

I didn't flounce this one but I did find myself skimming parts - especially lemons towards the end (& I love smut  :D ) I just found that as it was such a long fic, it started to lose momentum after a while, otherwise it's was alright.
Not a lot more happens at the end apart from them working towards their HEA.

I swear there are like 50% of twific that doesn't have  plot or story. It begin with certain situation , than usual cannon gang stuff & heading to HEA after with  unnecessary drama. Nothing new  NOT even writing style of authors. I hate this type of stories & these stories end up with 5k+ reviews for nothing. :-X funny thing is i am bumping to only this fics & Now i feel like i read all the good stuff and  all good writers have left fandom baring few.

With Calibre, you can add custom columns to the standard ones. You can add one for the pairing (use "Comma Separated Text" for that one) and other information, like if the story is complete. Now, configure the plugin. There, you have an area for the custom columns. Choose the "characters" option for your characters column. Save and the downloader should add the characters. I second that! Usually the plot summary is good, you start reading, the first few chapters are good, but then you keep waiting for some drama or something interesting to happen and suddenly the fic is over and you realize that it was a waste of time... I agree that there are only a few good authors left, others pulled their stories or got published....

I liked Help Wanted for some reason.  But then I read almost anything Actorward and have only flounced a few.  Well, if they appear to be written by a teenager? I'm out.

But this one was fine.  I don't think it was very angsty.  Which I know makes a lot of you flounce.  I just liked the Edward and Bella wasn't too wimpy like in some stories.

So, if you flounced it halfway through? not much after that.

Did Abbeldwatsch answer your questions?  I've been posting between the two threads & am probably answering on the wrong one LOL!

You have to first set up the columns then you can assign stuff to them in the FFdl configure page.  I actually have too many columns - there are some duplicates - because I started marking them manually before ffdl changed and started to download the info.  But I am very happy now with the program.

Just for the record, I enjoyed the fics from mama4dukes. Not much real drama but much to giggle about. When you don't try to take the story and plot seriously, they are a fun read. Life happens... is a bit boring and repetive in the end, it seems as if the reviews asked her to go on and she didn't find a good end. It could have been shorter, but she had many funny ideas and dissected the holy Cullens, showing them their flaws... Hey she made Alice a manager for Walmart! It's like a soap opera gone vamp.

But I like that threat because I found some fics that were hilarious to read!

I have to say I am  rather found of of mama4dukes as well but once again, each to their own.
Need to convert file try -

YES. THANK YOU. I hate when authors lose sight of the story. Usually some twist draws me in (Bella being blind, for example) in the summary, but then she ends up getting surgery and fixing her eyesight in chapter 5 or something ridiculous like that. And then there is no mention of the blindness anywhere else in the story. The twist is the reason why I START reading the fic. They all just blur together into the same, predictable story nowadays.
