Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

I have everything tagged in calibre. Ok, most everything, some AU ones I have no clue what type of story they are, lol. I also have the calibre app for my tablet, but have never figured out how to sync it up with my library on my laptop, the ip addresses throw me every time.

When you're on your app you should be able to just hit connect and choose content server. You should have access then? It shouldn't need to sync, I don't think

OK, pretend I'm clueless. What is the correct app? I'm using calibre companion.

Now...where I go to connect, do I do it as wireless device, or to content server? Whenever I try to connect, either way, it tells me I need to start the content server, but it says it's running on my laptop.

Yup, that's the app I use.

Ok, I know you said it's running on your laptop, but just to be sure, when you hit Connect/Share at the top and the drop down menu pops up, it says "stop content server" and "stop wireless server"?

Also, after it says stop the content server you should see your ip addy after that, followed by "port 8080"

Also, check: Preferences-->sharing over the net--->hit start server (if it's not already) and check mark the box under that says "run server automatically when calibre starts"

I know you may already have all this, but just confirming.

And you always have calibre up and running, correct?

When you're on your app, you can do either connect as a wireless device or content server. I always do the content server.

I don't see a drop down menu...am I blind?

The only thing I can think of is this- I don't have a wireless router yet, I'm piggybacking my tablet off my laptop's wifi card with a program called connectify. I suppose it's possible that's causing a conflict, because when I hit "test server" in calibre, it says it's working fine.

That all looks right on.

The drop down menu is from your main library page, when you click on the connect pic.

What's the message you get when you hit connect on your tab/phone again?

That the server isn't running and start the server.

"Cannot find content server.

It appears that neither the wireless device connection nor the content server are running. You might be able to connect if you start the content server. Click on the connect/share button, then choose Start Content Server."

Calibre is running, server is running, wifi is on on the tablet. I've tried and tried.

That the server isn't running and start the server.

Could your firewall on your laptop be blocking your tab/phone?

Can you confirm that the IP addy you entered is the correct one? Try this:

Did you enter the ip addy that popped up when you did a google search? If so, that's the wrong one (at least for me). Follow these instructions using the command prompt on your laptop to find it and then make sure that's the addy you enter into calibre.

following thru to step 6 should determine the addy. I googled my Ip, it's different then the one I manually entered by doing the command prompt so maybe this could be the issue?

I finally got it! Somehow, under the "connect and share" tab ( I was turning it on under regular preferences), the thing for wireless connection was turned off, turned it on, and it connected.

Ok one more question and I'm done, promise! can I download them here, or do I still have to go to dropbox/drive?

You can download via the app :)

When you click on a fic along the top you'll see Epub, Mobi, Etc. Click on the format you want and it will download. Then hit read (right beside the formats) and it should prompt you on what app you want to use to read. :)

I do not know how to use this program. I downloaded it but, yeah. It's sitting on my desktop mocking me.
~No, no. I'm laughing at you not with you~

And don't forget to press "Thank You" after downloading. Someone took the effort to find it, you should thank them.

Calibre is one of those programs that seems overly complicated at first, then it seems really easy once you figure out the basics, then the more you tinker wtih it, the more you figure out you can actually do with it.
