Haha, here a room with a toilet in it is called "the toilet" or "toilets". At school we have toilet blocks, sometimes the toilet is in the bathroom (but more commonly it's in a room of its own) but we'd still say "I'm going to the toilet" or "I need the toilet" or something a bit more crass not really fit for a forum.

Dunny, thunder box, loo or toot are also common terms.

Tehe. Anyway to bring this somewhat back on topic: I'm reading Wild by PeppahLouie at the moment and It's really good. But another lost in translation moment happened about. Bella and Edward are in bed, she feels his little friend but he's being all celibate and then the following is written:

He growls into my shoulder, "I am being tested."

"Will you pass?"

"That depends on which side you're rooting for."

I laughed out loud. In Aus, to root, or rooting is, um, a synonym for a more vulgar term for s e x that begins with an f...  :P

We have a book on wombats on our school library. It says:
"A wombat eats roots and leaves."

I read it as:
"A wombat eats, roots and leaves."

I know a few men that do that too!

Vulgar, dirty-minded, foul-mouthed Australian!

I always just figured their blood was replaced with their venom, so any erections would be from venom filling their willies. This is why they should always wear condoms when sleeping with human, wouldn't the venom change them if they had any abrasions, say, from rough sex? Do I not remember that actually being a part of one of the Bella/Jasper fics? Carlisle telling Bella NOT to swallow? :D Maybe Colliding Meteors?

Speaking of Aussie's. I now wanna try a Tim Tam

Mmmm - tim tams. They are awesome, chocolaty deliciousness best eaten straight out of the freezer, or dipped in coffee, or... (imagine Rob dipped in chocolate...damn those bats distracted me again!)

Wishing you all the best weatherwise and pray that you are all safe.
Cyclone season (our version of hurricanes) is fast approaching - must buy tims tams for the survival kit!

We are having our first rain since July today - am hoping it hangs around for a few days. :rain:

If they are made of stone, shouldn't it always be hard?? A real perceptual hard on??  *raises eyebrows*

Hehe. And how could he possibly be producing viable sperm when his, ahem, stuff is venom and his body temperature is so cold? I'm pretty sure the nuts need to be around 35-36 degrees C to produce sperm. Not to mention need blood and the fact their venom is you know, poisonous and all that....

Oh, and I found another one: "Wow, you are a beautiful site to wake up to."  :D :D :D

No?...Their blood isn't replaced by venom? Their saliva is...When they rip each other apart it's just "stone", I'm going by the original Twilight mind you.... :D are we really debating this? And yes, I know it's my fault as I brought it up as a pet peeve!

Oh and here is another one,
I handed him a cigarette, which he accepted " I feel like such an embacil

I'm telling you Ex Factor is swimming in this kind of nonsense, I really want to flounce but I'm on page 984! Might as well stick it out, right?

WELCOME BACK RDMickey!! :-*

And we're back to Edward being hard again!
Maybe the advice to wear condoms when having sex with a vampire is to prevent gravel rash?

I think a big problem is, all these fics kind of feed off of each other's ideas, and we start to forget what was originally said about things and what new writers have come up with.  Like the God of War title for Jasper that was coined in Colliding Meteors, but I have seen in at least one (I'm thinking I've seen 2) other fic.

I know in several  fics I've been reading, when a vampire gets injured, the wounds seep venom, so it just....bled into my own ideas about things.

LOL!!!!  There was one where Bella was changed by having sex with Edward.  Wasn't it Just4Ale's American Vampire series?  Or maybe Creature of Habit?   One of those I read a long time ago .... :o ;)

Last lesson for the day on Australian Culture (pronounced: kulcha)
Back in the late 80’s, singer/comedian Kevin Bloody Wilson (refer to post about our use of bloody as an adjective for EVERYTHING) released this charming little ditty entitled “Rootin’ In The Back of The Ute”.

A “ute” is a small utility vehicle with a flat tray on the back (a pick-up, perhaps?) and “rooting” is…well I think you all get the idea by now.

Enjoy! A classical Australian ballad of romance…

ps: Rdmickey - one does not "root up in that". One simply "roots", as in "I would love to root Rob when he is dripping with melted chocolate" or simply the phrase "I'd root him" would suffice. Either way, I love the pic and hope that if you are anywhere near any storms/hurricanes/cyclones, you have your catalogue of yummy pics backed up in a secure location!!!

So one could conceivably say "I'd root that"? :D

And from other vampire fics. True Blood has them crying tears and bleeding all over the place, but the blood is like a drug. In Vampire Diaries the blood heals. I've read Twilight fics where the vamps have non-Twilight traits from the other vamp worlds.

I think only Twilight vamps are disco balls, though.

If talking about Rob - yes.

If talking about Kevin Bloody Wilson - never!!!

Well done, Matron!  :bravo_2: The teacher in me is proud that you have learnt a new phrase, and used it correctly. No homework for you tonight! For everyone else, keep practising.

There are several ways, but they have made it easier over time and included a button just under the strike through. You do need to know the URL of the pic and voila.

It should look something like [ img ] xxxxxxxxxx [ /img ]. No spaces though

Done! Thanks so much  :-* I went back to our chat this morning about tomato sauce/t52228 horse and added a photo. With my newly acquired computer skills, I feel like I could be the next Steve Jobs at the moment!

It's not really our fault the SM created the most non-canon vampires out there. The Saga itself has plenty of inconsistencies.
They drink blood, but have non of their own. No saliva, just poison. No tears. No sweat. But they got semen all right  :D
It's just so confusing... I am certain I once came across a fic where Edward was sweating poison :o (Flounced it after that and erased the title from my mind. :P)

Just curious, to our Aus and Brit sisters, why do you pronounce a word with an R in the end if it ends with an A. Example, you say dramar instead of drama; Victoriar instead of victoria. Then you remove the R at the end for some words like super is supa (supa sale!). Always wondered why but its quite sexy to me, accents always pushes my button  ;)

Here, public restrooms have signs as toilets or restrooms. If in a conversation or asking for direction, we sometimes ask "where's the bathroom" in english as we call it banyo in our language, derived from baño (spanish for bathroom).

More yummy pictures. I'd definitely root that!

Here, public restrooms have signs as toilets or restrooms. If in a conversation or asking for direction, we sometimes ask where's the bathroom in english as we call it banyo in our language, derived from baño (spanish, we were colonized by them for over 100 yrs).

Basically there is something called a rhotic r, in Aus and England (with the excception of some local dialects) we have non-rhotic accents which means we only pronounce /r/  if it is followed by a vowel in the same intonation unit (So Car sound like Ca and water sounds like worta), this also plays havoc with dipthongs that are followed by /r/ and changes their pronounciation to schwas (a mid-central vowel sound - think the last vowel in sofa) so you get things like tIa for tyre or centa for centre. Where as rhotic accents (such as North American English) will pronounce /r/ in almost all positions in a word.

But then, in non-rhotic variants of English there is something called an "intrusive R" where many speakers insert an epenthetic /r/ between vowels, especially when it's a schwa so at word boundaries (or syllable boundaries) you often get an /r/ inserted where there shouldn't be one. So drawing is often said drawring, and phrases such as Australia and New Zealand in rapid speech are drawn together as Australiar-and New Zealand. So sometimes Victoria or Drama will sound like they have an r (E.G. Vicoriar-and) although they are more commonly ended with a schwa, or slightly rounded a which may give the impression of an r in rapid speech.
