The fanficdownloader app will find the URL in the epub & then I can grab the metadata which includes the summary.  And actually, the mobis I had just required me to change them to epubs first.  But still, it is a lot of work. :o

Does anyone know on Calibre if there's a way to retrieve the covers/metadata of PDFs, or will I have to find the URL and add them through the FFDL plugin?

Yeah...I read this discussion and my first thought was - English, please!

Now I feel like I should be wearing a helmet and wiping the drool from my mouth - You're all so tech savvy! I'm a little jealous.

I just d/l direct from flagfic to a folder on my desktop. Save by title by alphbetical order. No backup. No cross referencing.

And I do a little happy dance when I transfer fics across to my e-reader

But you know what's really sad - my friends (the real-life ones - not you lovely ladies) all think I'M a technological genious! Can you hear the banjo music playing??? :)

My boyfriend would laugh if he heard you calling me tech savvy, I promise I most definitely am not! Just yesterday after getting after all my fics in order in Calibre, I googled an issue I was having and followed the 'fix' - and managed to wipe out my entire Calibre library that I'd organised, tagged etc the day before. There were tears.

Pet peeve of mine is when someone asks for a fic name like this 'Well E and B fall in love and B gets pregnant and then E leaves and B dies blahblah'. Well thanks a lot, even if someone does find it there's basically no point in me reading it ever - use spoilers, for the sake of my sanity :pulling

Ha! A lady after my own heart!!! See Astro it's not just me! I'm absolutely with you in terms of using spoilers, I don't want to know the details of fics I've not read I want to experience the story for myself, otherwise what's the point?

Oh Godzy and Giney - always makes me laugh especially Gineyland USA.  :DI was exactly the same the first time I read The Screamers (read it at least a dozen times since  :D ), but the angst is definitely worth it
There must to something wrong with me..I have tired to read Screamers twice
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I have flounced each time, what am I missing?!  :D

Also still reading EP. Lordie this story is long! I'm loving it but so far I have found very little difference between this and Sempre...

Hello, hello!  First and foremost, LOVE this site and I'm beyond excited that I found it!  RL (job, chores etc) are just not going to happen for a while, hah!  Thanks!
I'm looking for a story that was pulled a while ago.  I want to say that the title was, Counting On The Rain, but I could be wrong.  Bella was committed to an institution and later on the Cullens took her out and helped her through things and heal over time but she was diagnosed with a mental illness as well.  A cop (who was undercover at the time) was in there as well trying to get the dr who killed his wife who was a patient there as well.  Anyone know of this fic?
I'm also looking for a few other fics in PDF format
Hydraulic Level 5
For The Summer
Take The Ice
There was also a fic where Edward was a Hawaiian surfer (loaded, bitchy mother, rivaled Jacob etc) and Bella went to go live with Alice there for a while.  Paradise something I think?  Any ideas?
:-* For anyone who can help

I'm not sure, but it's sounds like this one...

I read Screamers once. It was easier as a WIP. I love Kiya and all she writes :)

You just need to pretend that the story is believable in the beginning-- it's a good read!

Talking about FF to published, I had no idea Edward Wallbanger had been published as Wallbanger? My understanding is that there is very little difference

Frankly, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who figures out how to use this website is a pretty much a tech genius. It took me forever to learn all this stuff.  And mostly? I fake it really well (cue Sally orgasm noises here)  I still avoid Facebook.  Other than the twilight fic finder pages.

Also, I crash a lot of computers.  I blame my magnetic personality  - being as how computers really don't like magnets.  ;)

So I've had to learn how to fix things.  And mostly? I use Google to get the answers and just do what they say.....after making sure my stuff is backed up.  The worst part is, I can rarely remember how I fixed something once it's done.  So I google again......sigh.....

I'm also REALLY good at reloading computers from scratch.  Yeah.  Did I mention I like to crash computers?? :33: :33: :pulling   ;D

Facebook!  Arrrgh!  When my daughter started high school, she decided she needed a facebook page.  So I started my facebook page so I could stalk her and her friends.  I now only get on it when new pictures of my daughter (now off at college) post, or she changes her relationship status.  Every time I get on facebook, they have changed things and it takes me forever to figure out how to navigate through my own information, much less someone else's.  It makes me very tense and frustrated.  So I avoid facebook, groan, and repeat.

LOL! I stalk my nieces on it and have family only for my personal one.  I initially got on it because a friend talked me into it. Next thing I know, all these people I barely know are filling up my page with all sorts of stuff I'm not interested in.  I dumped them all, went private and rarely look at it.

Then I have an Ellachanted one just so I can access the various fanfic groups.  I just answer posts and look at stuff.  I have no idea how to upload pictures or anything. LOL!

Though it was funny, when I went private, I also removed all personal information because I was worried about Facebook's privacy policies, and my sister called and asked if I got divorced and she missed it! I guess a friend of hers got married and announced it by changing her Facebook status.  :P

It's crazy! My assistant stalks her "boyfriend" on that infernal thing. Fair enough, they're doing long distance, but still; if she sees a woman's arm in a corner of a picture she starts hyperventilating that he's cheating on her! Any new "friend" is a potential threat...And honestly, how can anyone have 400 "friends" it's f-ing ridiculous! And good luck getting her to do any work on a bad Facebook update day. :33:  I'd really like to mark that sucker's berg!   :violent-smiley-007:

Here in the US both Simon and Edward are (or were in the case of Edward) pretty lame names.  If the guy's a hottie than the name gets hot too!

Gah - people who don't have kids shouldn't partner with betas who don't have kids!

Reading a new story from one of my favourite authors, and I'm loving it with the exception of the 6 1/2 year old that talks like a 2 year old.  Seriously folks, 6 year olds talk like normal people!!
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

I actually quite like both of those names, there is something to be said about traditional, timeless monikers ...What's a...."fashionable" name in the US? Chuck?  :D :D

LOL! God, no....I think Jason might be - it's a pretty popular name. Steve was always a favorite of mine, but it's not so popular anymore. Alex? Josh?

Really, though, it can't be worse than Christian LOL!

Heck yeah! Tied only with Alan.
Then again, I'm pretty sure Edward isn't much of a hot name unless it's in association with a certain character..  >:D

I had a facebook for YEARS...ton of 'friends' (90% were people from high school that I didn't care at all about) and I finally got so tired of seeing random posts from people on what they made for dinner, how the traffic was when they did their errands and their daily 'accomplishments' (all the chores they completed and miles they ran lol) that I deleted my entire page. I created a fanfiction acct just so that I could lurk on some of the boards for rec's but I haven't had my personal page for a year now and do not miss it at all.

And now I've noticed that facebook is everywhere. It's kind of like Walmart.

I was so happy they talked me out of flouncing at the James part.  It is a great story, one of my favorites ;)

Finished The Screamers last night and loved it! Thanks for the recs and assurances it is a good story.

Wow, 13 times! Am not into angsty stories that much but was glad I decided to read it after all your recs. It is a favorite of mine now and is in my top 5.Haven't read Sempre yet so, Demaris, do let me know any major differences between the two so I can decide whether to read Sempre or not.

Now off to read Once Upon a Desire recd by kawaiiangel  :)  After which I will reread the Purple Banana Hammock. thanks Astro for letting us know it has added 2 more chapters. I read this in Aug and recd it in the other thread but I forgot to put the author in alert. So glad she has expanded it!

Have a great weekend everyone  :-*
