Wow, 13 times! Am not into angsty stories that much but was glad I decided to read it after all your recs. It is a favorite of mine now and is in my top 5.Haven't read Sempre yet so, Demaris, do let me know any major differences between the two so I can decide whether to read Sempre or not.

Have a great weekend everyone  :-*
...takes a break from EP to blow nose and search for more tissues
OK no one told me about the heart-fail of a letter Edward leaves Bella nor about all the stuff I'm crying through right now! (yeah, yeah I know I hate spoilers so... :D) To answer your question Booked, "nope" there are no major differences but there is a lot more to EP...I'd not bother to read Sempre because EP has all of Sempre and then carries the story still further (though maybe that might be rectified in the Sempre's sequel)

Thanks Demaris, won't read Sempre anymore but will watch the movie! I totally agree with you in the range of emotions EP evoked from me. My heart was twinging most of the time I was reading that and yes, buckets of tears were shed. My husband really looked at me funny and asked why the h e l l  I was still up at 2 am and crying over a book, for the entire week I read EP :P. Don't forget to read all the outtakes, there were a lot and all good as well.

BTW, have you been to sleep at all? Isn't it around 4:30 am there now?

Simon?! Over here in the UK that's possibly the least sexy name ever. Think I'll stick with the FF version!
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Here in the US both Simon and Edward are (or were in the case of Edward) pretty lame names.  If the guy's a hottie than the name gets hot too!

LOL! God, no....I think Jason might be - it's a pretty popular name. Steve was always a favorite of mine, but it's not so popular anymore. Alex? Josh?

Really, though, it can't be worse than Christian LOL!

Heck yeah! Tied only with Alan.
Then again, I'm pretty sure Edward isn't much of a hot name unless it's in association with a certain character..  >:D

World's Worst Male Names?
Trevor, Norman, Bruce, Colin, Gavin

If you're not convinced, say them with a very broad, very nasal Australian accent!

My parents were going to call their son Gavin. They had four daughters. When they finally had a son - Robert! Thank Goodness!

Being a teacher, I would never be able to name my children, if I ever have any! I have a theory that if you call a boy a name that starts with a "j" and has an "s" in it, you know they're going to be trouble. In 20 years, I have taught too many boys called James, Jesse, Justin, Jasper (yes, I taught a Jasper BEFORE Twilight), Joshua, Jason, etc and have NEVER been proven wrong. Although, they usually, eventually - somehow - turn into charming adults!

As for Alan and Steve...

Personally I think Facebook is the devil..Why would i want to be found by people I've not heard from for 10 years?!

Facebook IS the devil.  :iagree: It is evil and nasty and horrible and vile!

But it is awesome for stalking. And for finding out that those bitchy girls at school have aged terribly and eventuated to nothing - not that I would hold a grudge for 23 years.

Actually, I have appreciated FB this week - my grandmother passed away earlier this week (at the ripe age of 96) and it has been wonderful to reminisce, reconnect and share stories, photos, etc with my 13 cousins before we all got together yesterday for the funeral.

Completely random and off topic...(That's not like you, I hear you all shout!)

It's 6:10pm on 1 December - the first day of summer and its currently 36 C (97F).

5 days till my birthday (40!!!), 13 days until Summer holidays and 25 days until Christmas  :santa:.

I just saw this ad on TV - and thought I'd share it with you all so you can see how we do things here in Australia.

The bloke at the beginning is tennis legend (and fellow Queenslander) Pat Rafter (twice winner at the US Open, twice runner-up at Wimbledon, and all round hottie!). I don't dance around in my undies (well - not looking like this!) but we do wear the dorky paper hats from the Christmas crackers, spend as much time in or near water, and have a beautiful back yard of crunchy brown grass - the sprinkler is on as I type and as much as I would love to be dancing around under it in my togs - or undies - I'm not.

The pink birds - they're real. We call them galahs. Pronounced gə  (short uh sound) lah (the sound you make when the doctor checks your throat - open your mouth and say ahhhh). The emphasis is on the lah.

In summer the sky is full of them. They sit on the power lines - and shower you when you walk under, if you're not careful!

The term galah is also Aussie slang for idiot.  :)

Remember to put your Christmas tree up today and eat the first chocy from the advent calendar!

I actually quite like both of those names, there is something to be said about traditional, timeless monikers ...What's a...."fashionable" name in the US? Chuck?  :D :D

The 10 most popular boys' names in the US for 2011 are, in order, Jacob, Masen, William, Jaden, Noah, Michael, Ethan, Alexander, Aiden and Daniel.  (According to the Social Security Administration).

Some of these are not fashionable at all. . .  :P

Does anyone else think Stephenie Meyer just googled "popular boys names" for inspiration?  ;)

I always have a chuckle at some of the US names - Hank, Chuck, Chip, Newt???  :D Love it!

We do strange "abbreviations" here in Australia - we don't actually shorten names: Andrew becomes Ando, William becomes Wozza, Daniel is Danny-boy or Daniel-san, Paul is Paulie, David is Davo, Edward is Eddy, etc.

We're just weird like that!

I have been watching and waiting for this fic to wrap up for ages. I have heard good things - like this is the best Edward ever. I felt all warm and squishy and patriotic when I read that DurtyNelly was an Aussie girl. I have followed it from FF to TWCS to a blog, which not only promotes BAtB but what appears to be two sequels. I even got really excited when people here posted updates saying that there were only two chapters left.

Just trawling the net as one does when it is too hot to do anything else and read this on DirtyNelly's blog You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Time to go ....
I'm stepping back from the fandom. I want to thank everyone who read what I had to write, and all the support I've received over the last few years.

All my stories will remain on this site, and the ones on TWCS will stay put as well.

Cheers,
DurtyNelly

This...THIS...THIS...THIS is why I don't read WIPS! I mean, 2 chapters left? WTF!

And it's on a blog so no Flagfic snatch and grab either! :pulling

So, I'm going to make myself a very large, very cold Vodka and Cranberry (what? - Cranberry juice is full of antioxidants!) and commence a cut and paste of what there is - even though it's not finished.

If anyone wants it, let me know here and I'll post it.
Or tell me if that is not allowed.

Barefoot in TX was recced recently and I decided to take the plunge and read a wip. Best decision made that day, what an awesome story. This is what I love to find a story that is well written and just sucks you in. It's a hidden treasure, not many reviews, but with exposure on this forum, I bet those numbers will increase.
Dusty was also mentioned...how can anyone continue to read that!!!??! And don't tell me it's the writing ok, yeah it's good, I know. How can anyone survive such wrenching pain despair and agony, chapter after chapter? My heart literally could not take any more, I was drowning in grief and pain and sorrow. I stopped reading. I cannot see a hea there and that just breaks my heart even more.
As for Frontline, she pulled that years ago to complete and started reposting recently. I thought finally, it's done. Yet here we are four years later still not done.
It's the ass crack of dawn here, can't sleep, so I thought I'd share what I'm thinking. If anyone has anymore "hidden treasures" please share.

Thanks.

I agree about Barefoot in texas. truly hidden treasures.  very unique charcters & beautiful writing. How many authors make u fall in love with bella within 2 chapters? that say something.  I am waiting for few more chapters before i start reading, so far i read 3 ch. .i am very impatient reader so i will wait till any coming angst in story pass.  ;) & i am sure this story will get more reviews.

as for any other hidden tresure fic, i rec  you "The Exchange Student by Lady Gwynedd"
He's simply an exchange student looking for a decent cup of tea and Bella provides it. She thinks he's completely perfect. When he finds himself in a jam, she offers to help him out; however, they are both soon way over their heads. Will true love prevail?

only  900 reviews but very beautiful story, no unneccesary drama, no angst , simple beautiful story of E & B.sometime i like this type of stories where other characters are not hovering & providing thier 2 cents in E-B's life.

I look forward to reading more from her.

Haha, well clearly many think they are!

The same but for Australia: Oliver, Noah, William, Lachlan, Ethan, Jack, Lucas, Charlie, Joshua, and Thomas. Hamish and James are also very popular (And funnily enough Hamish is James) there are 6 James' in my brothers class (and his name is Hamish!).

Both Noah and Ethan are popular is Aus and US, and I would not name my son either of those,. But for Aus, what was funny was looking at some of the crazy bogan names registered (for boys): Fonzie, Voltaire, Matisse, Toohey (This is a brand of beer), Spirit, Haze, Rome, Westin, and Harlem.

And while we are discussing EP. I loved that fic, but man it go soooo repetitive I found myself speed reading every second chapter. Still an amazing story. I've not been able to find the strength to go and read it again though, it takes so much time to read.

She does do her research and writes very nicely. I really can't stand when writers don't do their research when writing a fic.

A few examples I've come across recently was an Amish fic where Bella had to shun her sister who decided not to be baptised after her rumspringa, last I checked you are not shunned if you are not baptised.

Also a fic with Irish Edward constantly talking about his family 'plaid'. Ffs it's Tartan when referring to the family colours and on top of that it's not even the Irish who wear kilts and have family tartan, it's the Scottish!!  :banghead:

I only just learnt that plaid is what we call tartan. I always thought it was a style  :o My Grandpa is Scottish and in Scotland a plaid is a tartan cloth that you sling over your shoulder, often part of the traditional kilt ensemble.

There's around 10 or so Twilight names in the top 50 in the UK this year, but seeing as a couple of those (Ben, Tyler) were common before, I'd say she really did pick popular names - though not for the vamps obviously, how many Jaspers do you see running around? Though, being from an Irish family I do wish we had the whole 'Mary's such a common name we go by another name' as I have about 25 'Aunt' Marys who aren't even related to me.

Had to flounce on a fic because Edward got Bella' FACE tattooed on him. Sorry but.. no. That has to be one of the tackiest things ever, probably because I can't stop thinking of those pictures of people who've had awfully done tattoos of faces and have to look at it forever.  :(

Anyway, today's rec! You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login Summary: Once upon a time, a quirky woman barreled into a soft-spoken man's life and turned it upside down. Not that he complained about it... This one is a very cute Edward who you can't help but feel sorry for in the first few chapters! Only ~16000 words, so nice and short. Long live Polyblendward!

I started this fic last night and damn, I'm so intrigued. It has some seriously funny bits to it but the mystery surrounding the plot is what kept me up until after 3 am and then I still couldn't shut my mind off (I, uhm, dreamed about possibilities, wth?).

I'm not done yet, about 70% through (I hate hate hate that kindle doesn't list what page your on? Just locations with some wierd numbers and the percentage) and I hope the rest of this is as awesome as it has been.

I am following Barefoot and waiting for it to finish before I go anywhere near it, and as for Dusty, I happen to stumble across it and read it up to chapter 19 before I realised it was a WIP, I've not read a page since, just waiting for it to complete....I don't think there much left to it but one never knows! I trust YellowBella, I've never seen an incomplete from either of them.

I'm sorry about your grandmother.  I do know what you mean about sharing with family - really, that is the only thing I use it for now.  My cousins started a private group page that has been a lot of fun.  :)

Jacob, Masen, William ... Michael ... Alex

:iagree:  and the number one girl's name in the US is Isabella, astro2009 you are SO correct about SM!

I love your Australian nicknames!  Ando, Wozza and Davo are so cute!
Going by the current names doesn't work - the most popular names in 2005 when she wrote the book would not have been Isabella, Edward, Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle and Esme.  Now, Mike, Eric, Jessica, Lauren, well you get the idea.....

Of course now?  Everyone wants a Bella.  So she can get an Edward.  And live forever as a vampire.  After getting married at 18 and having a baby LOL!  Wait - I'm thinking those last few things are probably not quite right.

Though I think in the 30's? Emmett and Rosalie may have been pretty popular names. ;)

Or tell me if that is not allowed.
ugh! I hate that.  You may want to check the other thread  to see if someone has already done it. :)  I have a version to chapter 18 if that helps.
