I finished Lolashoes' LYLS and ALE...   Do you guys know if it's important to read "Bits and Pieces" (I guess these are outtakes?) before you start This Hungry World (3rd fic)?   I was going to start on THW but the first few lines say something about it taking place between something in "Bits and Pieces".

They are outtakes. I haven't read the series so I couldn't tell you if they're important but if you need a copy I have one I can upload?

I hate drabble fics too! They can sometimes seem like a ploy to get more reviews and on my kindle the format just doesn't work that well. I have to admit I didn't read Savage's Offside until a couple of days ago because I was put off by the short chapter style :o

I read Hungry without reading Bits and it wasn't a problem..But you can find Bits on our initial 152 thread.

Does anyone here know who N.R Walker wrote fanfic as? I read one of her M/M books last night, and it was adorable, and when I went to review it, I found out she used to write Twific, and slash twific, but I have no idea who she wrote it as!

owenic  She wrote Learning to Feel.  Awesome Author!!

Most of her fics are uploaded here : You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

LOL, I love Carano and her drabbles... she starts off with short chapters then each one gets progressively longer and longer :) I wish they were all like this.

Nooo! I spent about a half hour googling around to find out, I knew by the time I made it back here someone would have already posted. Maybe I'll try to read a full-length slashfic, so far I've only managed one shots.

I can forgive CaraNo for drabbles as I love pretty much anything she writes, though I know her writing tends to divide opinion.

Sorry :(.  I had to google it, too.  It only took me about 2 mins though, because I found her blog right away, where she links PDFs of the fanfics that she had published.  As soon as I saw Learning to Feel and His Grandfather's Watch I knew it was owenic since I loved all her stories!

Learning to Feel is quite possibly the ideal full-length slash fic to start with ;).  I think it was my first.

Rec: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login Summary:Shock cascades through her body, sparked by his smile. His resemblance to the boy who left her in the forest so many years ago is remarkable, but there is one key difference. He is human. AU.

I'm currently at chapter 14 of this and baffled as to how it'll meet up with the events of the prologue. It's listed as Bella/Jasper though, so I thought I'd rec it for non-canon/Jasper lovers and also as it's different from most post-Edward-leaving fics I've seen.

Thanks Chippy, I grabbed all of owenic's fics listed! I loved the pubbed book I read by her (Taxes and TARDIS. Doctor Who! Sold!) I'm going to give them a shot when I finish the newest Dresden Files book. I need a short Bella/Jasper break, they are all starting to run together in my head! :D

That fic has one of the most epic Rosalie lines ever.  Bella infers that she was obviously changed at the height of PMS and she says something like "Are you insinuating that I've spent the last 60 years in a continual state of PMS?"  lmao

. It is E/B as far as I can tell but I'm only on chapter 20 of 33; there are no lemons (which is a little disappointing because there are times in this story where a lemon or two would have helped with the build up of tension, but *shrug* the author does write very well and it is a break from the norm,

I must admit I'm a new convert to CaraNo, a month ago I would have said I wasn't a fan, I really didn't like Isle de Cullen which was the first story by her I read but I've recently read White Picket What? and Grand Tale as well as Second Page and I've had to change my opinion, though I did flounce It's A Sign.... :(

Knickers are a really funky pair of pants you actually wear on the outside. It's a short pair of pants that is gathered at the knee into a band.  They were popular in the 80's for a year or two - around the time bubble skirts were in.  The 80's ones were much fuller.  Here is a YouTube of how to make them - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Most people wear capris now.  Though they seem to be going out of style as well.   ;)

But I do find it fun to see all the different terms we use.  A jumper is another one. For us, a jumper is a dress that is normally no sleeve and v or wide u-neck under which you wear a blouse, t-shirt, turtleneck or whatever.  I remember my Mom wearing them when I was a kid.  Though you can still find them.

What a jumper isn't  - a sweater of any sort. ;)

Haha. We just call them knickerbockers, my brother has to wear them when we work at Sovereign Hill.

What you call capris we just call 3/4 length trousers! Haha.

And what you call a jumper we call a tunic, usually made out of wool with a 'v' or square neckline, they are very common winter uniform for girls at primary schools down here worn over a skivvy or shirt and tie.

Haha. What you call a sweater is only ever a jumper or windcheater here. Or a tracksuit top. Where you have 'sweats' we have 'trackies' or 'trackie dacks'

I have to firstly state that I'm not a fan of Drabble  Fics. I find the whole 100 words per chapter a little annoying but I also understand that you have to be a pretty talented writer to do it well, to encapsulate full-fledged scenarios into a 100 word. I suffer from word vomit so I couldn't do it.

...

I have to own up, it's not just fanfics WIP that I have trouble following weekly, TV series are the same. I never watch series (i.e. Grey's Anatomy or Scandal) week in week out. I Sky+ ( or Tivo I think it's called in the US) the whole series and watch it as a whole. I just don't have the patience to be dribbled feed stuff.

I was never a fan of drabble fics, and then I bit the proverbial bullet and read a couple that I had been recced and enjoyed them, but I still tend to avoid them, it's just so damn annoying having to move through 20 chapters to get through the length of one normal one.

Some drabbles you can tell have been regularly written chapters divided into tiny little amounts and posted, you can tell by the flow. I don't mind the ones so much that are little snapshots that don't connect directly on from one another.

WIPs are evil. After getting stuck reading a few because I can't help myself from starting them when I go in to save them to my alerts (I also wish you could do this from the top of the page) now I just whip in and whip out and don't read a single word. Saves my sanity.

A couple of years ago (before I really knew anything about the concept of fanfiction) a friend sent me a continuation of Meyer's Midnight Sun that she had found. I remember kinda liking it, kinda not, but not exactly what I didn't like about it. I don't remember any details about the fic really, including who wrote it. In fact, my friend was wondering if maybe Meyer had finished it herself, and I told her I was pretty sure it WASN'T Meyer's writing, it just didn't have the same feel. Now that I know about fanfic, well, I'm sure it wasn't Meyer, lol!

I've seen a couple other Midnight Sun continuations out there, can't remember who wrote them though, so can you guys maybe give me some to read? I did love the half of the story Meyer wrote, and would LOVE to see it finished out again and again.

Thanks!

ETA: I found the PDF my friend sent- it doesn't even HAVE an author's name on it! D'oh!

My mom always called capris "pedal-pushers". I have NO idea where that came from. I've seen knickers and capris, but my mom's generation (she's almost 60) calls them pedal-pushers.

I do prefer to think of knickers in the Bridget Jones tiny knickers sort of way though. :D

If my memory serves me correctly, pedal pushers are similar to capris though I think they are longer.  I believe they were made originally for wearing while bicycling so you don't catch your dress or pants in the chain.  Of course,  mostly no one who wore them actually bicycled ;D

So I've finished The Earth, It Trembles It was a pretty quick read; or maybe everything seems like a quick read after EP. Worth reading but being a "finicky" kinda person I would have wanted more...meat on this story's bones; it was a little too PG for the subject matter.

I forgot to mention Close Your Eyes, as a recent CaraNo fic I've read. Blimey! I have read more of her stuff that I even realised!
