Savage writes a lot of stuff I have a hard time reading...I couldn't read Offsides, but I loved all the Carlisle must die one shots.  Yes Carlisle dies in them so a one shot is perfect. For CBWR, I read the first chapter a couple chapters in the middle and the end.  I got the gist of the story, skipped the stuff I couldn't deal with, and read the semi HEA

I had to flounce CBWR after 2 chapters. It's the only one i went ahead to read the ending bec i really couldn't see myself rreading the whole thing.

I did like her Offside though. I wanted to kill Carlisle in that one.

Haven't read Unexpected Circumstances yet. Given the season, am in the mood for funny ones with not much agnst, preferably with Edward famous or rich... Any suggestions?

Most of the good OS for me are either based on a story I'm reading or longer than 3,000 words.  I've read a lot that were 10K words, so really? There is time to complete a story. Or they are lemons. Lemons are great for OS's

Mmm? This list has confused me....Not  an O/S but 5 chapters, 22 Chapter, 2 chapter, what is it you're trying to say here Ella? You don't really read O/S, do you? 

LOL! I was looking for some of my favorite OS, but I forgot she changed it into a short story. Though really? Each chapter is almost a OS. And the purple banana hammock onewe were talking about a few pages ago? Yeah, that went from a OS to 3 chapters. 

So maybe you aren't the only one who hates OS's.

Most of the time though? I read & forget OS's because they are such quick reads. The Under the Red Umbrella by Buff82 that was linked on the other thread? Yeah, that's a good all in one story with an HEA. But I forgot about it until someone mentioned it & I went to reread it   There was one called The Green Dress by littlesecret84 that was good. LOL! I'm so bad at remembering...this is why I can read the end of a story first

Last week became the busiest week of my life and I missed you all - somehow this board has become my "happy place".  I logged on and then started clicking "thank you" like a mad woman.

I did note that all recent topics of discussion seem to be started by Demaris - in Australia, we'd call you a shit-stirrer - well, I would, but I'm classy like that 

In one week, I start Summer holidays ( ) and I am ridding all "A" fics from my e-reader and loading it with the fics that have been rec'd and discussed here.

What is the MUST READ fic that I have to read over my holidays?

I stuck with Avalanche (no-one replied last week with any feedback) and I wish I had more of a flounce backbone! My reading time has been so precious this week - I HAVE TO read for at least a few minutes when I go to bed - but this fic... and what's even worse is that I am sticking with it! 

It's not too badly written (SPaG) and the storyline is intriguing - It's just soooo...draaawwwwwn...ooooouuuuuut:

Happy, successful Bella, and then Edward returns to her professional life - years ago, they had some epic falling out (I don't know what happened yet) and each time she sees him, she has major breakdowns. Most of the plot is in flashbacks - when they met (as 11 year olds), their teen years as best friends, and I'm up to when they have just gone off to university, and Bella is realising that she loves him but doesn't want to ruin the friendship - I'm not even a quarter through the 538 pages I have downloaded, and there are another 8 chapters on FF - and I know it's not even complete (well - there is still an epi to come) and hasn't been updated since June! AND I just read this on the author's profile:

'Avalanche' was my first attempt at a proper, multi-chaptered fan fiction. It's not even okay-ish. It's bad. Just don't read it at all. Someday, I'll rewrite it properly. Right now it's just...it is what it is, I guess, considering I wrote most of it when I was 19.

I just finished reading Could Be Worse, Right by Savage... to say I wasn't disappointed would be a lie.
I've read all her stuff, well now and I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the whole fic. I get what she was saying and how it got there but I just feel jipped.
Has anyone else read this and left with the same feeling?

I really liked Unexpected Circumstances - although I get what everyone is saying about the Angela bit - it was a tad "soap opera-ish", just one bad thing after another, after another...

I haven't read Caged yet - due to my chronic aversion to WIPs, but I did read CBWR - and don't remember much about it, so that tells me it didn't make much of an impact, so jipped? Yeah, maybe.

I hate one-shots, I really have no patience for them...I'm being totally honest, They. NOT ALLOWED. Me. Off!

I would say that I don't often read one-shots, but when I think about it, I seem to read a lot! If there is a fic that I have enjoyed, I will see what else the author has written and give their one-shots a go.

Also, sometimes between fics, or if I have a bit of time to kill I'll grab a quick o/s.

I totally get what you mean regarding the ending of a O/S being what determines the final satisfaction level but regardless I still find myself feeling unfulfilled. I read Through the Kitchen Window by The FicChic You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login As complete a O/S as you can get; told from POV you don't normally hear and as such a really refreshing change, at the end I still wanted to punch someone as if she'd ate my last Rollo! For me a quick read is 10 chapters...That's my equivalent of a sorbet between fics to cleans the palate

I know it was you that rec'd FicChic, I remember, and I have to say I did like her stories but left me feeling 

Savage is my fav author along with cara. But I am not fan of her all stories.I havent read anything befre UC. I tried to read CBWR, but flounced within 2 chapters. Savege wil always have special place in my heart because  UC was my 1st  twi FF i read.Apart from whole Stupid angela part its best  & only  Historic fic i had ever read.. After that I loved her fics like  Transcendence ,Offside, Win Some, Lose Some & now Caged.Best part about savage's story is she never afraid to twist characters & always write differently in every story. She never fall into twi cliche characterization.  Like you will never read pixie-shopoholic-annoying alice or sweet-perfect esme or bitch rosaile who get away with anything or  always understading carlise or goofy emmet in her any stoies. Not just E-B but she write all secondary characters with variation.

P.S:- After UC i learned lesson that never read savage's story in WIP. other wise you will end up reaping your hair out.Always wait until its complete. Like right now i am waiting for caged.

It is strange - we have the same basic traditions though,  just in the heat! I've had quite a few white Christmases and they are just magic!

All of our carols/songs are about winter wonderlands and white Christmases and some of us still go for the traditional roast dinner!

Not my family - thank God! We do seafood, salad and beer and bubbly - and that great Christmas tradition... icy margaritas! (Well, that's actually an "any day of the year" tradition for me!)

I love our warm Christmas. We still have traditional Christmas meal (Thanks to my English roots); roast Turkey, Ham and plum pudding. But also the yummies like Pavlova, summer fruits and berries and seafood. We also eat outside in the sun and have massive water-fights. We often walk down to the beach in the afternoon or have a game of Cricket in the park across the road.
