Howdy folks, hope you are all enjoying your Saturday!

I'm watching Bridget Jones's Diary on Style right now, and of course now I think of you ladies (pervy knickers) so I had to come and share.

I'm trying to read Hide and Drink by Savage for some time now. I really liked the plot and story, but I find something (maybe it's the style of writing or the way of naration...) really tiring, so I only read 3 or 4 chapters its time and then flounce it for a while.

I've been reading Hide and Drink this week and have enjoyed it, although this story is definitely not all sunshine.  I'm ready for Edward to be fixed, but this being Savage, I guess it's possible he doesn't get fixed.  I only have about 5 chapters to go, so we'll see.

On another note; having a bit of a clear out and came across this in my Favourites in FF.Net not sure how it got there but I a mightily confused ??? I know my memory is decreasing which each passing year but was there an Iris and Jackson in Twilight that I can't remember? I ended up thinking that maybe the writer got confused and listed it in the wrong section but ALL of her stories are Twilight, I've read a couple so..and can you list 19 chapters wrongly? I tired to read some of it to figure out "what the hell?" but.... *shrug* Help please 8)

I'm dong the a.n.a.l thing and reading or re-reading all the Twilight stories of particular authors.  It's fun to compare and contrast and see their growth as authors.  Plus, since I'm picking on the really good authors, the stories are generally really good, too.  Although I'm not sure I want to re-read Could Be Worse, Right?

Savage seems to always want to shock us more. I think she keeps trying to see how far she can push our boundaries before we end up flouncing her fics.

No probably not, but not because it's a difficult read (I thought it'd be 20 times worse, considering the subject matter)  but because I'm not sure it'll stand up to a second read...Not sure it's "interesting" enough, if you know what I mean...It's no Perfect Wife; for me that had to have been the most difficult Twific I've read, I think.

But talking about good writers I was over on 152 the original thread and found a tonne of pulled fics I hadn't downloaded yet, at quick glance some of them seem really fantastic; I'm doing a little celebratory dance  as I was about to throw my Twific towel in, Ive been so   :sign0023: about the last few fics I've read recently; Amazon was beckoning to me like a  on my shoulder  :D :D

Anyone else get the feeling KStew's stylist is a Rob fan?  :D

It's 10:00am Sunday morning and it's already 30C (86F) and all I can think is "She's wearing THAT in NEW YORK in DECEMBER!"

Poor Arse-face! No wonder she can't ever change her facial expression - she's frozen solid!

Although she does have Rob to warm her up...so there goes another excuse for why she can't act.

That said, ... here in Arizona we have drills for these exact scenarios.  Our kids are taught to hide in a specific area in their classroom that can't be seen from their door, while their teacher locks the door and turns off the lights. My eight year old and six year old come home from school talking about hiding from "bad guys" on the days they have these drills.  If nothing else, these drills will help me talk to my kids about what happened in CT and relate it to why they need to listen to their teachers so that they are prepared for any event.

This reminded me of another incident that just makes me shake my head. We also have fire and lock down drills - we're supposed to practise once each term. I once had a small group of parents ranting at me about how we shouldn't have these practices because they might scare the children.  :021:

I had to show them the Education Department policy and directive before they would leave me alone!

I have never seen a child scared during a drill but I know I would prefer the kids to know what to do if we ever had to evacuate or lock down. I imagine a drill is a lot less scary that what happened at Sandy Hook.

And to change the mood completely...

I'm watching Bridget Jones's Diary on Style right now, and of course now I think of you ladies (pervy knickers) so I had to come and share.

I was sooo tired on Thursday night and was about to go to bed at 8:30 when I did a quick flick through our 4 free-to-air channels. I discovered Love Actually was on! I love Love Actually - in fact I can't decide if I love it or Bridget Jones the most. So of course, I had to stay up and watch it - even though I have it on DVD and on my hard drive. Hugh Grant ripping into the US president (Billy Bob???WTF???) - lurve it!!! But his celebratory dance through 10 Downing Street - hysterical!

I probably only actually saw about 10 minutes of it - thank goodness my couch is so comfy  :015: I think my snoring woke me up so that I could actually go to bed at 10:00.

Those POMs might be weird buggers and not able to play cricket or cook, but they know how to do gooood movies!

This is the summary that's on my copy:
Average girl Iris meets Jackson Rathbone after a freak incident. A friendship blossoms, but her feelings for him are plaguing her every thought. Will a friendship be good enough for her, and, if not, how does she deal with the consequences?

So maybe not Twilight, but Twilight inspired, perhaps? A "real-life" fic - I'm sure that there is some term for this - I've seen, but not read, some RPattz fics. I've no idea why I have this downloaded - I assume I saw a good rec for it somewhere. It doesn't sound like my cup of tea (which is actually a glass of vodka) but I'll keep it for when I've read the other eleventy billion fics I have downloaded.

My copy has 32 chapters (the last 2 are epilogue part 1 & 2 so it's complete) and says it was last updated in November 2011. What's on FF is only 19 chapters and was updated on 12 Dec 2012. There's also a Jackson POV that's 30 chapters from 2011.

Ooh, links to any really good fics you found? I just read a fic where Bella was horrifically bullied and thought that was pretty bad, but Perfect Wife..  :wtf: I do not have the stomach for half that business. I remember thinking it'd get better and it just didn't. Even thinking of the first couple of chaps makes my skin crawl.

The only real life fic I read was 'Behind the Lens' or something like that. It was believable, except until I got to a part where KStew genuinely smiled. I can't deal with a fic so far removed from reality.  ;D

I've seen this, it keeps updating even though it states it's complete.  I started reading the beginning and it is about a character named Iris who meets Jackson Rathborne  (idk how to spell his last name)  so not your normal twi-fic.

I have not read it though.  Not into real person fictions.

I don't think it's the Bella/Edward sexchange that bothers me, it was the Bella/Mike sexchange.... I wanted to kick him in the balls. He was just so sleazy.  Edward gets away with it because he's Edward and no matter how bad he is, we love him.  ;D

Well, except maybe Chippy because she loves Jasper  :D :D

But Mike? Well, James is better than Mike.  Just saying.  ;)

But I love Edward, too.  And Emmett.  And Carlisle.  And Garrett.

Sheesh, and I'm not the one they call Pervy Knickers ;)

Poor Slapped Arse- Face (You mustn't forget the Slapped in the name..) She now just looks desperate, I think she  sartorially trying to channel Chloe Sevigny, and if Sevigny can't carry off half the stuff she wears, but the difference is Sevigny can act!

OK That makes a lot more sense, as you can see the summary I've got makes no mention of the Rathborne part of Jackson's name so I'm thinking "who the hell is Jackson!" I don't like real life fan fiction either  ( hence why I can't read You Get Me Close To God, or whatever it's called) so I'm not sure how it got saved in my stuff.

It's well written.  I felt like it ended rather abruptly.  Not that the story wasn't wrapped up.  Maybe I was just hoping for more :)

Bella is on a mission to change her life. Will a tiny school in a small mountain town offer her a new beginning? And why does every one want her to stay out of the woods? Set in the 1920s/30s. AH ExB MountainmanWard Rated M for violence/language/sex.

You're not missing something. It isn't complete, however there is only one chapter to go, an epilogue. I've been waiting for this one too, but it hasn't been updated since September despite Jax saying the epi would be up soon. It's fics like these I like to put on alert and out of my mind; just shelve them until they are finished. Although I think I'm just gonna flag this one now and go for it. It's pretty well wrapped up.

I swear I had never seen so many prologues/epilogues before I started reading Twific! It's almost like a rule in Twific - like pixie Alice, lip biting, Bella's little hand, blue dresses, popping the "p", Edward's 12 inch schlong and ability to go all night, etc, etc... Twifics need to have a prologue and/or epilogue.

There seems to be a lot of Twifics that are essentially finished, but the author feels that an epi is needed - and then they never do the epi, leaving the fic in my stalk list.

Demaris, I'm letting you make the call on this - is it finished to the readable stage?

ETD: I see there is a J/A companion fic - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login - that IS marked as complete.
