So, I've pulled on my Big Girls Pants and started a non-HEA, The Elusive Mr Cullen; but here's the thing, it is really well written, it has good dialogue (though Bella constant uber enthusiasm regarding her profession is getting a bit on my nerves) very good plot, interesting observation of female/male dynamics but...because I know that the ending is going to be different from any other fic I have read so far (my mind just keep chanting "how is this going to end? how is this going to end? how is this GOING TO END?!!") I keep getting tempted to flip to the end and just read that!  I'm kinda annoyed that it'll not be a surprise....From now on I'm going to mix my non-HEA in with my HEA and just randomly pick one to read....*yanking my big pants up even further*

I really like non HEA fics. Sometimes you just need a change. If it's written well, all the better :) Good luck!

P.S The Elusive Mr Cullen is awesome

Can someone tell me what the pairing is in The Forbidden Room?

I'm hoping it's Jasper and someone ;)

Haven't read it, but it looks like it is Jasper and Edward and then (maybe) Jasper and Bella.  However, there is a Jasper/Alice outtake.  That Jasper!  He gets around!

:D Indeed he does. It's a good one though. I don't know if it's the one Chippy means.

I laughed when I went to Walmart today... saw it priced at 18.97! The F U C K!? I rolled my eyes and said Rip Off Much? I mean, it's not even hard cover  >:(
So I bought 2 of the 3 at Costco for $9.99 each before I heard she said not so nice things about her ff readers.  That was not cool.  But that Walmart price? Yeah, that is crazy.

I thought I was supporting a ff writer, since it was one of my first ff's.  The Plan was actually my first.  I found out about it through Twitter.  I couldn't figure out what they all were talking about and got up the nerve to ask.  Then I got introduced to Fifty as a WIP - though she was almost done with the first story (book 2).  What's funny for me is that I liked the story behind all the sex.  The successful bad boy who really was messed up and how Bella helped change him.  Sometimes? yeah, I glossed over all the sex.  I'm not really into all that BDSM stuff.  Though some of the kinky fuckery was kind of fun.  :57:

I think my next main one was Loner as a WIP and Hit by Destiny.  I'm seeing an angsty trend here.  ;D

Well YAY!!  That just moved up to first spot on my TBR :-)

So, this is the fic (I think) that turned into a series of published books by JP Barnaby.  Was the published book a M/M pairing?
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

In the beginning I would just read AU. Edward as human? I would laugh at it.
Now I prefer all human fics.

And I actually prefer most of the fics to the original twilight books.
I'm with you on the preferring fanfic to the original.  I loved the characters but the writing was so-so.

Though I like to mix up my human and vampire stuff.   ;D

Hi everybody!    I'm trying to decide what to read for my first twific and discovered Clipped Wing and Inked Armor via one of the discussion boards on Amazon.   Somehow my google searches ended up leading me here.

Is there a general consensus on which one should be the first one to read?   I have heard that CIWA is really long, but I don't mind since I like detail!  :) I also saw some people over there recommending Emancipation Proclamation and wasn't sure which one I should start.

Also, I found a PDF for CIWA by googling, but I think the file size is different from the one that is available in another thread here on the board. (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)   Trying to make sure I have the right version downloaded before I start reading.    Does anyone know what the file size should be, or how many pages?

Hmmm maybe fuckery doesn't show up as a word in their list? ???

That is so funny though.  I don't even think about these things normally - until I post and a big NOT ALLOWED shows up.  Then I have to go back and modify it  :D :D :D :D

I loved CWIA. Mine is 763 PDF pages. It was my first fully read fanfic, and I loved all the detail.  I thought Wide Awake by AngstGoddess003 was wonderful too, another really long, angsty read.

I've been reading for almost 2 years now and I still haven't read either of those LOL!  ;)

I don't think there is a consensus on what to read first.  I just depends on what kind of stories you like.  I think those are both pretty angsty.  I tend to go for more of the humorous stuff, with some angst on the side.  Though I would agree with Wide Awake being a great story to start with.   ;D

Almost any of the suggested fics on this thread would be good, but the first thing you need to decide is if you want to stay closer to the original and read an AU (Alternate Universe) story with vampires, of if you want AH (All Human).  Depending on the answer to that, you can narrow down your selection.  The three you have mentioned are all AH

This is true, with fanfic you can find something to suit just about every taste. From sweet YA reads to spicy romance, to extra hot, angst, comedy, horror, you name it.

I've been quite surprised to find myself liking several non-canon pairings of Jasper and Bella stories.

Speaking of which, ladies, what is something you have found yourself liking that you never expected to enjoy? I NEVER thought I'd go for Bella with anyone but Edward, but I've loved several B/J stories, and keep getting more to read. I never thought I'd be so into Jerkward, but I've loved several of those too.

*Totally off topic* So, I know I'm a frightfully late but I've just seen the trailer for Breaking Dawn part 2. It would seem they have taken quite a bit of.....artistic license with the story line? This might be controversial but, am I the only one who can't wait for these films to be over? Though I am interested in how they are going to turn Kirsten Stewart into a drop dead, stop any man in his tracks, beyond gorgeous, vampire...that alone might be worth the inflated price of a UK cinema ticket

*snort* nope. Rob is a beautiful, beautiful man, but the movies are horrible, IMO, and just get worse with every movie. I swear, KStew just gets more and more awkward, and the directing is just awful. I liked the first movie, the second was ok, I barely made it through the third, and still haven't watched all of BD pt 1.

This is one movie franchise that I can't WAIT to get a do-over! (but I'd still like Robert Pattinson as Edward)
