I'm currently on my 2nd fanfic and have just finished reading all 35 pages of this thread (not at once) and found tons of good recommendations!   I was wondering about Just Wait and Loner?  Are they HEA?   I want to avoid non-HEA's at all cost!

Also, I noticed a few people recommended Dusty.   Is it complete?  Is it worth reading?

I noticed a while back people were talking about grammatical errors that bug them...   my biggest pet peeve is when they write "I seen him at the grocery store".    "Seen" really gets under my skin for some reason.  LOL :)

While reading through this thread I sent tons of fics to my kindle.  They're all ones that I am sure I want to read so I think rather than trying to sort them I'm just going to randomly read them and then when I'm finished I'll remove them from my Kindle to clear up the list.    Thanks for all the great recommendations!   I have a feeling after I read a few of these fics I won't even remember what actually happened in the original books.

Just Wait is a HEA as well, but it takes a lot of time and heartache to get there. :)  And no, Dusty is not complete yet :(

Me too. On rare occasions I want to know what Edward thought when something happens.
And normally it's before e/b get together.

Like this last chapter from Yosemite Decimal.

Bella was high on painkillers, so I bet she said some embarrassing stuff. But she doesn't remember it.

It's a fun fic so far.

Now, see I would rather read EPOV most of the time.  ;)

Do you guys get upset when you review a a fic and the author doesn't answer you?

It bothers me when the fic is not very popular, so it's not like there are thousands of reviews to reply.
Sometimes, when the fic is underrated, even if its complete, I try to review many chapters. It's not like I think that the author should answer every one of them. Just acknowledge it.

Also when they take the time to answer my reviews I tend to review more.

I actually never expected a reply to the reviews that I would leave (you know...back when I read fics as WIPs lol) and was shocked when one author responded to one I had left. While it was a nice gesture for her to thank me, I didn't see it as necessary. Like others said, I was happier to read a new chapter vs a reply  :)

Thank you!   I'm going to add Just Wait to my list.  I can take the heartache as long as things work out nicely in the end.  I seriously could never read a non-HEA.  LOL     Thanks for the tip on Dusty.   I'm going to hold off on reading WIPs since I have so many on my list that are complete.

yeah, I do. But I like it better when they don't do too much overlap.  For instance, the EPOV of Virgins & Villians skipped over stuff to the point you had to read the original to know what was going on at times. Now WWF/WWS had chapters where she states in the AN you only need to read one. Yeah, I read EPOV LOL! ;)
I'm going to read V&V after I finish The Ex Factor...    I saw that Love Rescue Me is the same story in EPOV and she says to read the first 15 chapters of V&V before starting LRM.     After that do you guys usually go back and forth and read 1 chapter of each so you see the story from each point of view one chapter at a time?  Or do you generally read the whole book and then read EPOV?

I don't have much experience reading stuff like this with different points of views, except for Midnight Sun which I devoured and wish could be completed someday.

I read V&V and LRM as WIPs, so at the same time. For this, you have to read the V&V chapters first, but you may want to read them together or LRM won't make sense. Others, like WWF/WWS can be read separately because they were written that way.

So I'm trying to read Breaking the Silence by SparklingTwilight....OMG! for someone who doesn't talk she won't shut up.  I'm only 60 pages into a 900 plus page story & I'm ready to quit. If I have to read this inner monologue any longer , I'm tempted to gag her.  :-X  Sigh....   :banghead: :banghead:

So whoever rec'd it, does it stop soon or should I quit.  :P

Now personally, my inner monologues go on and on and round and round, like hamsters on a wheel.  Unfortunately, the fanfic writers tend to have their characters' inner monologues do the same thing.  While I am usually quite patient with my own inner ramblings, I don't want to read page after page of it in my fiction!  Sounds like it's time to skim, Ella.

 :iagree:

Inner monologues that are repetitive and totally unecessary make me skim or flounce. If I see this in early chapters I'm afraid that there could be more and that is not appealing. I really hate when there are long winded inners in a fic that I want to read with a good storyline/plot.

Slightly off topic, but kinda not. And because it Friday!

Anyone who has read a fair amount of Twific will have realised how important music is to a lot of the authors in The Realm of Fandom. But how many of us ladies pay attention or better yet download our author's musical recommendations? I'm tend to at least listen to the recs on youtube and then if it's something I like I download them into a special playlist called Fandom, but I save them under the original song, title and musician's name. The reason I'm asking is today I was sitting on The Tube (Londonese for subway) playing random songs on my iPhone and a song came on by Jonny Lang called Breakin' Me I st there as if constipated while I tried to remember which Fic it came from!.....So, I'd like to play a little game called Name That Fic!  :D :D Below are the lyrics of the song, from one of my favorite Twifics that has been recommended and uploaded on both threads; first one who comes up with the correct name of the twific it comes from get multi-thanks from all the rest of the gang (could help bump you up the Perusing The Shelves members ladder? You Experts can just play to show off your superior Twific knowledge!)...if there is more than one then all the better! But you have to prove it by attaching a link to the story..

Let me up I've had enough. Girl you're breakin' me

Yeah, I'm afraid to admit I flounced after about 10 pages...I didn't even get as far as to find out WHY she doesn't speak..Let me know if it's worth it and I might go back...

I hate to admit that I don't remember if it stops soon.  I read this as a Wip, Long, Long ago, when I was new to the fandom, so I guess the inner monologues didnt bother me so much.  I just remembered it as a good story with a messed up Bella who is helped by the Cullens.  So, I really can't tell you whether to quit or not. :(

WOOT!  :D I loved this fic. One of the reasons I love reading fanfiction. All the music that I've come across and fallen in love with which under regular circumstances probably wouldn't have given a listen to.

I love, love , LOVE, The Tutor; and that song was perfect for that scene....The other perfect song was Elton John's Tiny Dancer in True Love Way (Teambella23 actually pleads for you to listen to the song while reading the chapter in her AN) I played that song and re-read the chapter around 10 times in a row and cried like a baby!

Oh! You HAVE TO! It is brilliant! Really original and well written, well shite, it's Teambella so...And yes it's HEA but slightly bitter sweet and just, for me, one of my all time favourites. Please read it and tell me what you think? It's not mega long, you'll finish in half a day...if you ignore the rest of your life for a while  :D
