my biggest pet peeve is that Edward can do anything and he still gets to be forgiven.

One fic had he getting a bj,but apparently when edward is concerned getting bjs by someone else is not cheating.... especially in period fics (it was normal back then). :021:

Im reading this WIP, and i even pimped it on ADF,  and this Edward f u c k e d  up royally. Todays update broke my heart. It turned me into Team Jacob, or whoever, as long as Bella doesnt end up with this Edward. I really dont think he should be forgiven. I hate when this happens. It was a great fic, now im just disappointed and upset that Bella will forgive him. Unless its a non hea fic, but i doubt it.  :33:

I read a fic once that Edward raped Bella and they end together HEA.

It's funny isn't it. Poor Bella can't catch a break! I think it's because most Twilight fans don't like Kirsten Stewart  so they quite like Bella to suffer in her place!!! :D

What's the name of the WIP that you're reading? If it's Mamasutra there's an equal 50-50 chance that it won't be a HEA..

Oh Lordy! So totally off topic:

That reminds me of a story my friend told be about some bogan mother who took her son to the ED where my mate works. The kids name was Javier, so knowing that /j/ is realised as [h] in Spanish, called out when it was the kids turn "Havier". Anyway the mum yelled at her "It's not "HA-vier" it's pronounced JAY-via, can't you read?" OMG I laughed so hard when she told me that story.
Oh God! That sounds like a story my sister told me (also an ER nurse) about a lady with 2 kids she called Lay-mon-jay-lo and Or-an-jay-lo.......that's spelled Lemonjello and Orangejello.  Poor kids.  ;D

The whole point of this thread is you can name names  ;)

On another note? My Edward & Bella only bear a slight resemblence to Kristen & Rob, so I' m pretty safe when they f*ck up.  Though really, I still like Rob. Usually it's the guy who cheats & the girl takes him back.

Well right now I want to punch someone!
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Why is the author doing this!!! Just when I thought it was all going to get sorted...Thank you for not telling me the story, I don't want it spoilt but still...WTF is going on!!

Right got that rant off my chest...Ella you'll know what I mean..

NB Also if the way I'm reacting to Bella/Jasper in this is any indication, I don't think I'll ever be able to read a whole B/J story??  :57:

Like I said, stick with it, and all will be revealed. LOL. It is worth it.  ;)

At Last
Author: coloradoperson PM
Edward comes from wealth and all that that implies. His future is already written by his grandfather as it is for all the Cullen men. He has the right friends, attends the right schools, and he will marry the right woman. He always did what was expected of him and accepted it all without question until he met Bella, a student working her way through school, and everything changed.

It really was a good fic, but the last chapter... well, i cant see myself forgiving Edward. Bella deserves better.
Anyone is better than this Edward. Can people change? yeah... but sometimes there is too much water under the bridge to let go and forgive.

I agree. This would make me flounce. And god forbid Bella does anything wrong, then the whole world hates her, but Edward practically poops rainbows. The man can do no wrong. It's what made me dislike the Edward from the books, he was so manipulative and just, urgh, he was practically abusive but everyone made excuses for him because they were dazzled by his sparkalies.
Now I don't get it when people say Edward was manipulative and abusive in the book.  Overly protective maybe, but then he thought he was a monster. And there were definite stalker tendencies, but it seemed necessary considering her penchant for attracting trouble.

Jake, however, was totally manipulative.  That kind of pissed me off that she would accept crap from Jake but fight Edward when he was being protective. *shakes head*

See, that is where I see his abusiveness, he was emotionally abusive, and manipulative and just kind of not anyone who I would want to be dating. I see his abuse in the way he was overly controlling, the obsessive behaviour and the way he emotionally manipulated her and his extreme jealousy (which by the way are one of the ways abuse is defined by the law). The example where he disabled her car so she couldn't go and see Jake is one example that sticks out in my mind. There are so many. When he won't take her home in Twilight, even though she asks. He often tells her to be quite and comply with his wishes and when she doesn't conform to his wishes, he forces her using his physical strength and his ability to "dazzle" her.

“Where do you think you're going?” he asked, outraged. He was gripping a fistful of my jacket, yanking me back. He was towing me toward his car now, pulling me by my jacket.
“Let go!” I insisted. He ignored me. “You are so pushy!” I grumbled.
“Get in, Bella.”
“I'll just drag you back,” he threatened.

That is not a healthy relationship, nor is it overprotective. It's what I would call abuse.

He is obsessive, stalkerish, controlling, somewhat mentally unstable and has false standards. As pointed out to me in the past he actually qualifies for 7 out of 11 of the The Domestic Violence Guide lists characteristics of domestic violence:

   1. constantly criticize you and your abilities as a spouse or partner, parent or employee?

    2. behave in an over-protective manner or become extremely jealous?

    3. threaten to hurt you, your children, pets, family members, friends or himself?

    4. prevent you from seeing family or friends?

    5. get suddenly angry or "lose his temper"?

    6. destroy personal property or throw things around?

    7. deny you access to family assets like bank accounts, credit cards, or the car, or control all finances and force you to account for what you spend?

    8. use intimidation or manipulation to control you or your children? hit, punch, slap, kick, shove, choke or bite you?

    9. prevent you from going where you want to, when you want to, and with whomever you want to?

   10. make you have sex when you don't want to or do things sexually that you don't want to do?

    11. humiliate or embarrass you in front of other people?

As much as I'm on Team Edward I kinda have to agree with Illabeth, there were times/aspects when if this was a real relationship I'd be telling my girlfriend to walk away from it...I get all the elements that makes Edward the way he is but most abusive men will give you reasons as to why they are that way; work stress, cultural/learnt behaviour from their parent etc etc. But there is no real excuse. Nor can we start, even in fiction, placing blame for a man's bad behaviour on a woman, so the fact that Bella could find herself in trouble standing still is no excuse for Edward physically manhandling her....it sets a bad precedent.

I think he probably left them with the contract he signed to do all the promotional stuff for Twilight. He possibly has been told to suck it up until after the last film is done. But who really knows.

Might as well stick with Jaxon22 and read A Pound of Flesh.   It has been recommended here.

I am currently reading Wild by PeppahLouie and it is rather decent.   There is a lot of descriptive writing about clothing and food, but a good story.  So far.
