Limom, I was sorry to hear about your son and I hope your nephew gets better soon. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you!

Thank you LL.   :-*.  We wont know much about my nephew till next week when they will do another cognitive test.

Books are my drug of choice.  I tend to use them as an anti-depressant.  Because even though you try to explain to your doctor that you are really depressed, they tend to not believe you when you smile. And I know it's my hormones, because I eventually got to the point where I could track it in relation to my period.  So, I read HEAs as an anti-depressant.

I used to read a lot of horror and I love mysteries.  They don't always have an HEA.  But I have to read a lot of romances in between.  And I rarely read any real angsty stuff because I usually have to close off to read them or I get really depressed.... Or I think the characters should commit suicide and save us all.   Sigh.  Yeah.  I probably shouldn't say that.... :-[

Reading was always an escape for me, still is.  I was never a great fan of horrors but I used to devour mysteries.  I know what you mean if I read an emotionally demanding book, I will run off to read something light and fluffy afterwards or even during.  I have disliked the characters in a number of books but the characters in Andre Gide’s The Counterfeiters, made me want to take a gun to their heads I hated them so much,  bloody nihilism.

Me and the hubby argued over names for Saxon (who I wanted to name Dexter but he refused as our surnames Morgan  ;D) and our little angel Topanga-Sway, but he distracted me and got his way with Saxon so since then I've made it a point I name our kidlets and I'm really gonna fight to call our little girl Thomas as he's already chosen the middle name, so it's only fair.
I like the name Calrissian but for a girl though.  :)

Actually? I kind of like it too for a girl.  I can see calling her Cally or Rissa - it would have some really cute nicknames.   ;D

Not sure about Thomas though.  I would go with Tomas over the old fashioned Thomas if you wanted to name your daughter that.  Thomas would make me think of Thomasina - yuk.  Though a girl named Tommy is always interesting...

And?  All my brothers and sisters had normal names.  I had a weird one - named after a family friend.  I got teased a lot about it.  I really hate my name and would change it in an instant if it wouldn't upset my parents.  They even get upset when I shorten it.  My sisters and brothers can shorten their names but not me.  So when you think about a different name, keep that in mind.  Give the kid options.

Sorry...*steps off soapbox*

Joining you on that soapbox!

My brothers and sister had normal names too - I got teased a lot too.  I was not allowed to let people shorten it either!

I can't say I hate my name but, I hate the fact people can't say it or spell it correctly.

Woah.... that's a big step down.   :D

I'm stuck on the name Thomas but every time I tell friends or family that's what I like for bump they start singing A Boy Named Sue.  :D

I know what you mean hun, my brothers were all given normal names and I was given the weird name which I loathe. My parents are the only one that calls me and hates it being shortened in anyway too.
I usually go by my middle name though most peeps just call me "Lo" as that is the first two letters to my first and middle name but they never do it in front of the 'rents.  :D
Where as if when Saxon and bump get older and want to change or shorten their names it wouldn't bother me, my Daughter does it everyone calls her "Chels" or "Lou".
But my kids have names if they don't like they have middle names that are acceptable as well.  :)

All you people with odd names have got me curious!

Mine is plain and boring. Dana. Nothing you can do with Dana at all. The ONE plus to my name was it was fairly uncommon where I lived, so in my whole life, I've only ever run into 2 other Dana's, one was a guy that I dated a couple of times.

I am right there with you.  Kim,  and to boot I also a first name as my last name    :D

That must of been confusing at times if people asked for Dana - were you like "Which one?" I imagine that was what it was like for Taylor when he was dating Taylor Swift.
No offence hun. :-*

My names Logan-Berry but like I said I go by my middle name most of the time which is Lois (but hardly anyone can say it or spell it right), so you can see why most peeps call me Lo.

Just to complicate the issue, I actually go by my middle name and have since just after I was born.

I only use my first name for medical purposes and people can't even pronounce that correctly when it only has 4 letters.

Double whammy there!

LOL the first time I met the guy, he asked me name, and went "Oh! Imagine what the sex would sound like!" Then proceeded to moan it out.

We never got that far, but it was still funny.

I understand about the can't spell it.  They want to separate it or add part of it to my last name.  It's like my name is Annmarie Smith and they want to call me Ann Marie-Smith.

Though frankly? Annmarie would be preferable to my name LOL!

My mom always wanted to call me Toni for a girl, not Antonia (which would be my first choice if I ever had another girl), but really Toni. I hated that thought as a kid, because the only other Toni I knew was a very old woman with bad teeth, looking like a witch and I was very afraid of her when she visited my grandma. So I'm glad my siblings could chose my name, or better, everyone wrote their favourite down and then they put all the pieces in a bag and my mom had to draw one, like a lottery  :) So, I was called Linda and I'm happy with it. I don't have a middle name, they are not common here. As a boy, my name would have been Sebastian...  ;)

My brother almost got stuck with a weird name too.  And my parents use his middle name which is more unusual than his first.  But they let him shorten it.

Yeah, I should go by the middle name I gave myself.  My parents decided my first name was a mouthful and didn't bother to give me a middle name.  It's just hard to change your name when you get older because so many people know you by the name you were given.  Though really? I never give my full name anymore, just the short version.

But you know, as long as you don't mind them using their middle name or a nickname, it's not so bad...  ;D

If I had been a boy I allegedly would have been called Tristan.  I'm not too sure about that one either!

Hmm. I think Tristan was the name of the hero in one of my old favorite historical novels.  He was a very hot pirate if I remember correctly  :D :D :D :D :D

I wonder what happened to that book.....

I was originally going to call my daughter by her first name, but my country bumpkin relatives had such a hard time with Ashlynn, they were calling her everything from Ashley to Ashton to Adrienne(freaking Adrienne? really??), so within a couple of days, I switched it and started calling her by her middle name, Skye. And NOW people try like hell to call her Skyler. No, no 'Ler, just freaking SKYE.

And my youngest is Alissa, but half my family wants to call her Alisha or Alicia. WTF, people?? It's not that damned hard, seriously! Should have called her by her middle name too, but then we'd have a Skye and a Raine, and people would think we were total hippy dippy, but we're really not.

Well, I'm German so I think only of Wagner when reading Tristan (like the opera, Tristan and Isolde), so I wouldn't call my kid that...  :D

I love those names!  :-*

Here all names have to be approved by the registry office. If they are too weird, the name itsself or the spelling, you are not allowed to call your kid that. So, not calling your kid like a day, month etc, not like an object... But people are creative enough to get strange names for their kiddos...  :D

That is so strange to me, that the government gets to say what you can name your kid.

Though I also can't understand how someone can mess up Ashlynn or Alissa either....
