This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

I'm really relieved that there aren't any hard-core KStew fans in here. I couldn't stand her from the beginning for various reason. The biggest ones: I think she's an attention wh... and a exceptionally bad actress. There I said it...

I could go on for hours, but I stop, because for me it's in the past. I got more and more the impression that the relationship was more PR than anything else and I stopped thinking about it. I only got annoyed that I had still to see pics of her while I only wanted to see Rob.

On a side-note: there's a useful little plug-in for Calibre called "Find Duplicates".

If you run this it finds duplicate stories in your library and you can easily decide if you want to delete something as it marks them prettily. It works very fast and smoothly for me and I run it from time to time to see if I downloaded things twice incidentially. Helps me to keep my libraries as clean as possible.

And also: A friend recommended the Link Gopher add-on for Firefox to me.

It grabs all the links on a website, opens a new tab and you can then copy and paste easily. Sounds a little laborious, but isn't. I used it to download all my favorites (about 1000) from ff.net into Calibre. So I went to my profile on ff.net -> favorite stories -> and used the add-on to grab the links from each page. I started with the last page and went through to the first page.
I could have done it at one go if I searched for my profile as writer on ff.net, but I didn't know if my computer could handle downloading 1000 new stories at once.

Because we've all been flexing our tech-muscles today, I have another question.

When I click a link here, it opens another tab. When I click a link on ADF, it goes to that page, which is a pain, because then I have to go back to ADF and find where I was in ADF.

Is that a set up that I need to change on my computer, or is it just something in ADF that I have to learn to live with?

I know I can right click and select open link in new tab, I just don't remember to!

And now, thanks to all of you lovely ladies here, I can go to ADF's Fic Diving Campfires and What The Fic Campfires and add those fics to my calibre library! Woohoo!

Also, I learnt on ADF today that "More Than Rivals" by Mary Whitney is free to download from Amazon today. Mary Whitney is Betty Smith, who wrote my fave Politicianward, The Gentleman From Washington State.

Because we've all been flexing our tech-muscles today, I have another question.

When I click a link here, it opens another tab. When I click a link on ADF, it goes to that page, which is a pain, because then I have to go back to ADF and find where I was in ADF.

"I'm usually very careful about not including trigger words in the titles. Phew. However, they'll probably come looking now, but quite frankly, I don't care. I hate the nanny state/witch hunt mentality of it. My stories are clearly in the M category which is for 16 years and older and, as most people in the world can have sex at the age of 16, why the hell can't they read about it? I'm sick of beating myself up about it. I'd much rather a 17 year old was exposed to the sex in my stories than watching some of the god awful NOT ALLOWED out there.

No wheel - just the touchpad on my laptop and the buttons for that. I'm just being lazy - LOL. Thanks for the tip, though.

Do you use Firefox? I found a nice add-on for Firefox: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Right-click on links to open them in new tabs. Firefox does this by default with middle-clicks, but many laptop mice (touchpads) don't have middle buttons.

To temporarily cancel InstaClick and re-enable context-menus, hold down CTRL, ALT, or COMMAND (Mac only) while right-clicking on a link.

Right-clicking on anything other than a link doesn't invoke InstaClick.

I had heard of that type of behavior from her from the beginning. I also read that she liked to lead Rob around by the nose and seemed to try to control him in his personal dealings with friends and family that she didn't like. I am sorry to offend anyone, but to me she seems to be a narcissistic little twit…

One of my all time fav ff authors thought that she was a witch "because it was the only way to account for her getting work and Rob".

Finally picked one of the reported offensive titles from Caro's list and was a little surprised at how un-offensive it was. The summary implies more. It's set a few months post-BD, and I'd forgotten how uptight Edward was in the books. I'm so used to FF Edward where anything goes.

Not the best writing and more about domestic discipline than BDSM.

I have used the Duplicate finder in Calibre many times. I actually merged a lot of stuff when I first started when I originally imported all my mobi stuff and then was able to download in epub with all the fancy info.

Now it all auto-merges so I don't get duplicates. I just was saying that if there are duplicate URLs in the list? Calibre will only download it once. As long as you set it to only download if new chapters. I do keep duplicates, but they are stories from different sites. So I may have the same story from FFnet, TWCS, AO3, and Fictionpad. I had some Twi-write stuff, but mostly, it never updates.

The last list had Trip of a Lifetime. Yeah, there were some lemons. but really not enough to pull it. I never thought of it as overly lemony. I think these guys are going to be overwhelming the FFnet admins hopefully to the point FFnet says "enough" and shuts them down.

I'm trying to copy all the URLs on RDMickey's favorites in ffnet. It takes forever to copy one by one.

I tried highlighting & it doesn't seem to pick up the URLs when I right click. I've tried changing the settings in the app but it still does the same thing. It says it draws a box but it doesn't. $:-\$

Someone gave me a link to use in chrome that worked great. I rarely need to use it, that was the first time I couldn't either copy the page and hit Add links or us the Get URLs from webpage.
