Hi guys! I finished Smoke and Mirrors last night and the entire Gravity series was really great. Thanks again to those who rec'd it. Enjoyed them immensely. Think she should write a real book as these, IMO, are as good as Catherine Coulter's FBI series. I hope am not just being biased bec drotuno has the advantage of using very beloved characters that we can forgive for doing just about anything. Still, the way she writes those action scenes, the family/friend dynamics and lovely lemons really evoked emotions from me, which for me makes her awesome author.

Am now debating whether i should start reading Fire & Ice or not. Drotuno seems to be updating pretty regularly but you know my wiphobia...damn, where has catastrophia gone? She hasn't updated Me and Mr Cullen since July!  :-\ Same for emmamama88's Lullabies and Eternal love  :-\

So, should I start reading this series now or wait til F&I is finished?  Does it end in a nice spot with Smoke & Mirrors?

Okay, part of me says go for it as I haven't seen her not update on a regular basis.  But then if I tell you that, suddenly her RL will become a total mess and she will quit updating for months on end.....

Um yeah.  So *cough goforit cough* probably better not to read the WIP  :D :D :D :D

I read the first one and if it ended there? I would be just fine.  It was the same with the Angel series.  You could stop at the end of any of them.  There might be a few loose ends that were mostly closed at the end of each and the last one totally stands on it's own.

I liked her Slippery Slope.  Though I would have liked it to be longer with more of an HEA.

It was a good short story.  And indicated a future HEA, but as a short story of basically a weekend, there wasn't time for marriage and green-eyed babies.  :P

Son Of A Preacher Man
« Reply #1415 on: November 02, 2013, 10:46 AM »
Hi Ladies.
I want to say I'm going to go back and catch -up with all the pages I may have missed but really? Nah! I did notice though that Lauren popped in (belated greetings my fellow islander) as did 107YOV, which I was sorry to have missed; love me some 107YOV. And that we've moved away from Diva Cups to Vaginal Probes? Never a dull moment on PTS's favourite rec thread  :D :D.

I have been reading quite a bit though and just finished Son Of a Preacher Man by LeViePastiche which I really, really enjoyed. I do have to admit that I had to keep checking back at the summary that it was a E/B (and not some sneaky ploy to get me to read J/B by default) but I really like how the author stuck to her plot, I can imagine as a WIP she must of got some real stick from the E/B Crazies. Jasper in this story is...well he might just be the best Jasper I've read, not being a huge Jasper fan, he's funny as hell and a truly loveable rogue. Most of the normal cast of characters are there but aren't stereotypically cannon..(though Alice is...well, Alice on one crack pipe, rather than ten and you can actually imagine that someone would want to have her as a friend) All in all a good story and I dare anyone to not continuously hum Dusty Springfield while reading it.

Just so you know before reading, this will be a whiny post...

Yeah, it was my birthday yesterday  :) (and my hubby really got me a new oven, yay me! ;))

But my "best" birthday present? My youngest shared his stomach bug with me! Woohoo!  >:(

So, I could enjoy my cake, twice ... but spent the evening in bed not with my hubs, but with my youngest, trying not to puke...  :-X

And last night? My daughter got it, too...  :P

Sooo, today was spent on the couch, with tea and plain popcorn and Kung Fu Panda, Mosters vs Aliens,  Horton hears a Who! and Wallace & Gromit. Party time!  :D

Oh well, I read a lot, too.

I started Halloween early (although we don't celebrate it...) with Retribution by lvtwilight09. What a messed up story! But a great read, but I should have waited till my stomachwas a bit stronger, it was really bloody and violent... You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

And I read Right Before My Eyes by lovedforeternity, a sweet Footballward. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Teach Me To Love by Kapootya is a pretty good story, but a bit fast sometimes. But there were several scenes I really loved. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Silence and Security by adorablecullens You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is a fic I really like. I love that Edward and Bella are older, in their late thirties and the author matured them believable.

So, please cross your fingers for a ghealthier day tomorrow...  :-*

Sorry if I'm late!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :birthday: :-*

Just thought I'd drop in to let you all know that I am indeed alive and kicking. Currently still in the middle of writing my thesis (with a change of topic, I'm now looking at the evolution and development of the use of the term "Aussie" in print media across the two world wars).

I was rather seriously ill for quite a while not long ago and as a result my thesis is now due on the 6th of December, so I won't be around until at least then (:(), if not a tad longer. I hope everyone is well,  I miss chatting here and can't wait to catch up on everything that has gone on.

 :-*

Good Luck!!!  :-* :-* :-* :-*

I've noticed that I'm not abnle to read supernatural fic anymore... no vampires only humans... Has someone of you felt the same for a period? Has it passed?  :o

I think my problem is that it is harder to find really good vamp fics, I think there are more good AH because authors find it easier to relate to/get into the mindset of....I don't want to re-read SM's Twilight, with straight up and down Twilight Vamps physiological characteristics, so the only vamps fic I like are the ones like AWTFA where they are completely different, which means authors have to think outside the box and create, not easy to do, believably. But I have to admit when I first got into Twifics I only read AH, now I'm happy to mix it up if the vamp fic is good. At the moment I'm reading Carpe Noctem & Fiat Lux by QueenOfGrey only just finished the prologue so not sure yet if it'll be good or not, though so far so pretty good, in terms of setting the scene...

I love vampfics.  But Demaris is right.  It is hard to find good ones.  For every good one out there, there are so many bad ones.

I have Carpe Noctem on my to read list, but it didn't grab me, so it is still sitting there.  I have liked AWTFA which was good.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login - This one was funny & I liked it.  But there a a LOT of SPaG errors.  Most of them add to the funniness.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login - Edward is not a 108 year old vampire.  He was turned by James who got interrupted while feeding.  It was different.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login - Edward is tired of high school, so he is going to be a private eye.  Mostly he finds lost cats. It is funny. :)

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login - this is somewhat more canon.  Bella tells Jacob she doesn't love him after he kisses her.  I put off reading this for a long time because I hate that scene.  But it turned out to be a great story.

There were a couple more I liked but I'm not finding them.  I usually go for the humorous stuff.

Otherwise, I really like the Angel series.

In my last post I forgot to say that all of the pairings are Edward and Bella.

From the Ashes: Edward is an American soldier who liberates a concentration camp and Bella is a prisoner.

Loving The Alien: Edward is a member of the SS and Bella is Jewish

A Vonat The Train: Edward is a Nazi at Auschwitz and Bella is a prisoner

Bereit: Edward and Bella are prisoners
