Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

I know what you mean about skipping lemons. I love lemons, but sometimes if there are too many of them to me it takes away from the story.

I have never read EP, what story is that?

EP is Emancipation Proclamation by kharizzmatik. It was pulled to publish (Darhower published it as Sempre), but you can find the original fanfic in the index. It also has about 12 outtakes!

Yeah, I'm not sure if I ever read them all. From character interviews to outtakes, it's really comprehensive. I'm hoping some of it was incorporated into the published version and is presented a little cleaner. I spent an afternoon this past summer going through all of the different files to make one document for my stash. It's a lot.   ;D

I will have to put that on the TBR list. The next one I am looking to read is The End of it All by Lissa Bryan. She also has some ff stories. She has the first chapter of the published story on her website and it definitely left me wanting more. Worth checking out.

I haven't read CW&IA yet, think i will eventually get around to it considering I survived and loved EP.  :P but probably not in the near future  ;D Have been trying to read the shorter ones (500 pages or less) as it makes me feel that i am making headway in my TBR library (yeah, crazy, as if i can fool myself).

Finished Breakway Bella last night and it was ok. Skipped some of the lemons/violence. FFG was right, it had its ups and downs but otherwise still an ok read. loved that bella is a tough sharpshooter here. jasper seems real hot here too  :)

Am now reading Ava Lore's 4 part Rock Arrangement. A relatively quick read and ok so far (am on book 2).

The notification for Fictionpad works!!! hope they can host more stories/writers and provide easier search capability/user experience so we can leave FFN for good!!!

Hard Hearted by counselor
« Reply #409 on: October 16, 2013, 12:05 AM »
Good morning! It's a shame: I had no time to check in here for a few days. There are about 20 pages to catch up, but I don't think I can manage that.  :( Work is taking too much time and I'm hoping of changing the department in the next months so I have to keep up with my files.

I'm reading Hard Hearted by counselor at the time and I love it big time! I'm so glad I gave it a try since I couldn't get into Roar Like A Lion a few months ago.

1946. The boys are home from the war. Eddie meets Isbe at the movies. Close dancing in a smoky club leads to love. Same night Eddie hooks up with the Irish mob. Love is thawing his hard heart, the same one needed for survival in his new and violent world. Isbe vows to stand by but Eddie likes it on the edge. When a four-leaf-clover isn't enough, can love prevail?

Otherwise I'm really sad about flagfic and ff.net. I'm sure you talked about it yet, didn't you? The combination worked so fine for me, but probably I will have to change my system now. I don't like fictionpad.com and I'm once more glad I downloaded the last two years regularly.  :'(
Is anyone having issues with Calibre and downloading from ff.net lately? It doesn't run smoothly for me at the moment and keeps bothering me. Riot in my little fanfiction bubble!  ;)

But there is just one thing..... everything that the story was building up to happens in the last paragraph of the last chapter!

I'm serious, this is one of those stories where you are just waiting for shit to hit the fan. I was thinking 'OMG something so bad is going to happen, can't wait' but nothing really happened and when it did it just ended. :( I don't know if something happened that the story was finished abruptly.

And I don't know if you guys know this but it seems that flag fic is working again!  :cheer:

If I can download fanfics all is right and I don't care about anything else.  :P

I read this story and I agree, it was a hell of a lot for so very little, in the end. I felt like the author got bored and just decided 'I can't be bothered to write this any more'. This was my second post BD story with TIALS being my first' I preferred TIALS.

Onward, or should I say upwards. Surviving Bella by Savage.

This might be your chance to redeem yourself. Surviving Bella is a good one and Savage is a great writer.

I loved Surviving Bella by Savage.  She is a great writer.  Though it is angsty.  And the end leaves you wanting more. She really could have done a sequel.  Actually, it was the epilogue.  The ending was fine.

Did you know that it is a P2P . . . which has a sequel coming out in 2014?

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

If memory serves, Savage intended to write the sequel to Surviving Bella, and then got the chance to publish.

As I catch up on the day's posting, I discover now that Lamelurker's already mentioned this, but there's the link.

There was an update to fix ffnet's idiocy. And one for the ffdownloader thingy too. Try updating those.

Or perhaps scroll back and read the advice of someone who actually knows what they're doing on calibre - my eyes glaze over and I might even start to drool a little when they start mentioning metadata!

Is anyone reading Heat by PrincessRachael? Why is no-one else flailing over it like I am?

Watch this space; I've got something in the works. ETA is a couple of weeks - needs a decent chunk of code-writing time from me to finish it - but once it's sorted, FLAG should be pretty much un-blockable by ffnet.
>:D
If you keep an eye on the FLAG homepage, the status message there is updated regularly. Twitter less often (via @flagfic), as I don't like mass-spamming all my followers with minor updates, but any major announcements will go on Twitter too.

As things stand currently, FLAG is serving all ffnet stories from cache (which has the bonus of also including a few pulled stories). Anything that was previously downloaded by any FLAG user in the last couple of months should work OK, but may be missing the latest chapters - basically if you check the 'last updated' date on the copyright page of the ebook file, any chapters that were posted after that date will be missing from the file.

If you have any questions, please let me know - I can't watch every web forum for replies, but if you send me a message via You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login it's guaranteed to reach me.

Cheers,
Steve
