I have been looking for a couple of stories

1) Esme and Edward die in the battle with Victoria's newborns Bella and Carlisle comfort one another and end up together I believe its called Because you live.

2) I'm not sure what this one is called but Edward and Bella break up and Edward starts dating Tanya in secret but when he tells Bella they get into a argument. Bella ends up together with Carlisle that's all I got of that one.

If you need something light-hearted and fluffy to read I could definitely recommend Down Home by MrsSpaceCowboy.

It started great, but somehow I thought it would be angsty. There was a little bit of angst
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
, but that was that. Nowhere nearly enough for me. So it happened again. I skimmed half of the fic because it was pure fluff after that. But this is really frustrating. The fic can be excellently and beautifully written and nonetheless I get bored, because it's too sweet and fluffy.  :banghead:  :P
But definitely a rec for those who like fluff!!!!

I'm now reading Fish & Chips (book 3 in the Cut & Run series) by Abigail Roux and I plan to read Youth without Age and Life without Death by goldenmeadow after that. IF I can remember that! Most of the time I forget the order of my TBR-list or get distracted.

Otherwise I'm still waiting for spring to wake me up. And for Rob to do promo! I'm so looking forward to something new from him and new interviews and hopefully new word vomit!  He got that quite under control during the last years though. Pity!

I watched City of Bones yesterday for the first time and really loved it! I'll have to watch it a few times more, but the first impression was good and I liked the cast. Hopefully they continue filming soon!

I found a story on the index by anallbr   called Soldier Boy, has anyone read this fic yet? I was wondering if it was any good before I add it to my reading list. Does it have a lot of angst or is it just a fluff fic?  :) I do love a good long story.....

OK, now see, I'm from across the pond and I'm beginning to think that maybe 'shudders' has recently  become Americanised as 'shutters'? There is no other explanation as to why so many authors use it? They can't all not be able to spell....I see it in at least 60% of the fic I read, it makes no other sense. What do our American sisters think?

Also I wanted to ask, how old are 7 graders because I have a 7th Grade Edward in this story who not only plays in a band  with his friends from school (which is fair enough) but has a 'following' and is struggling to handle his new found 'fame'? his music is 'unapologetically loud and anti establishment' would a 7 grader even know what 'anti-establishment' means?

EDIT: Oh joy! This story also comes equipped with Beta suggestions at no extra cost!! Foock me....

As far as I know, it's still shudders. Shutters are those things you put over windows. Unfortunately, it's a correctly spelled word. So auto correct won't catch it. I think the ease of self publishing will make spelling worse because if you see misspelled words all the time, your brain starts thinking it's the right word. :P

As far as 7 year olds? The ones I know aren't that smart I guess. Though they probably play Rock Band or Guitar Hero on their Xbox. LOL!  The only way they would know that word is if they were brought up hearing it from their parents. And still? They wouldn't normally understand the meaning.

But I also don't know any prodigies or child actors. ;)

But for both the author and the beta to not pick it? It's odd?

As for the 7 graders, I get them hearing the term from someone older but to understand the it so well that they can 'write' music to fight against it? He also has piercings and all sorts. GOD! it's at times like this that I wish I could flounce.....

I don't know why so many authors continue to incorrectly use 'shutters' and 'all of the sudden'. It's not Americanized, it's just wrong.

Depending on your 12-year-old, I think they can be anti-establishment in terms of music. Developmentally, I think this is when some individuals start to question 'the rules' though most preteens are more concerned with trying to fit in. These days, the piercings actually fit with a certain style, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see one all metalled up. They would have to have parents that were either very lax or quite uncaring though.

I recommend with 5 gold stars and a cherry on top Youth without Age and Life without Death by Goldenmeadow. This story blew me away, so much so I had to review it on Goodreads, the last fic I recc'd on there was Dusty, those who know me will get the significance of that. You can read my review (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) it's easier than typing out again all that is great about this story.

Youth without Age and Life without Death
Nascence to ending, Eliza Masen to Isabella Swan. Human suffering, supernatural horror. Waking, dreaming; wanting, needing. A fantastical reason. Vampire. Human. Man, woman, lover. Singular hope for love & the ONE thing you never thought possible. ExB, M

Um, I think it's a thing of spell it like it sounds and don't actually ever check a dictionary. I've seen it so often now, I'm sure many writers who can't spell don't know the difference. And betas miss stuff. And not all betas appear to know how to spell either if you read their stories.

At least this is what I see when I read these stories. One person spells it wrong. Next thing everyone who read that story is spelling it wrong. And without real editors? Self published stories will likely have lots of errors. Also, it's impossible to catch your own errors. This has been my experience. Your brain sees what you meant to say and not necessarily what you actually wrote. So I'm a little sympathetic.

And? You need to learn to skim. Or skip to the last chapter and read backwards until you feel you finished the story enough to drop it.  I sometimes love my bad memory and ADD that allows me to read multiple stories at once and then forgot to go back to the bad ones. It's not flouncing. Well not purposefully flouncing. :D :D :D :D

I have read Soldier Boy before, but it was a long time ago. The only thing that I remember is that it is not a completely fluffy story. There is angst in it too. There is a sequal called A Normal Life.

It was on my TBR list but I think I was told it was really angsty or had a not so happy ending or something, so I moved it down.....

Okay, found the comment on the 152 thread - I guess it was a chapter and epi from being complete when it was pulled and the two authors were arguing about it so it doesn't look like it was ever finished.  If you can live without an ending? Go for it! LOL!  :-\

Found a further post from OliveDaisyChain "I read Pigtails and although there are a few loose ends at the end of the last chapter it is still worth reading.  The story is really good and I hope the authors finish it one day."

So...

I'm with you in regards to the parallel story but I just love the way Goldenmeadow has such 'big balls' with her story telling. I was happy with the Bella back story because there was so much good stuff about Esme, Edward's parents etc, I said in my review that the supporting cast kinda steal the show for me this time round.  I'm so glad you enjoyed it LameLurker....(PS, do you think, now that you no longer lurk, and I'm sure were never lame....  that well...that you should.....maybe change your tag? I read this based on your recommendation, and liked it. With that said, I find it VERY hard to grasp the prose in which goldenmeadow writes. I am ALL ABOUT some flowery writing in moderation, but I had to re-read things a few times to decipher what in the world was going on. She also penned Dead Confederates which I was soooo excited to get started on, but I could not get past the first three chapters. Sometimes I think I'm crazy and just don't get it, but I found this on the first page of reviews for Dead Confederates

Quote
Vampfan1 chapter 1 . Sep 22, 2013: He is so verbose and descriptive. I can honestly say that I have never read another author who used so many adjectives. You used more in this first chapter than I think I used in all my college English papers combined. (And I graduated Suma Cum Laude so my work was well written!) I would suspect it to be a difficult read and that your elevated vocabulary would slow the reader down, but that isn't the case. Just weird is where I'm going to leave it at for now. I'm really not sure what to think yet.

Youth without Age and Life without Death, was a much shorter task, but still had a pretty handful of those adjectives. I'm a loser that doesn't care to read multiple point of views, so I only read the first chapter (Eliza, who I loved!) and all chapters from Edward and Bella. The plot was great and I enjoyed reading through all the folklore. I just bugged out over the excessive description  :(

I had the same problems with Dead Confederates, but I blamed myself for it as I'm not a native English speaker. I made about a third of Dead Confederates before I gave up. It's on my To-Be-Re-Read list, but I'm not sure when this will happen.
I'm willing to start Youth without Age and Life without Death though and I'll see how that goes. Fortunately I got over my inability to flounce quite a while ago and am not longer averse to doing so, if I can't get into a story.

Does anyone else have a problem with flouncing a fic and then remembering parts of the plot waaaay later and not being able to remember the name or author? It's really the worst; because I didn't like them enough to keep track of them and I can't get little bits of the story out of my head  >:( Now I have to go see if anyone can tell what stories I'm talking about from my vague recollections
