Ok, I need to vent or rant or whine or whatever you want to call it.   Lamelurker's comment made me realize how sad it is that we have to hope that a book we bought has been edited for SPaGs.  I can't be the only one who thinks that is absolutely crazy.  That should be a given, right? 

When authors publish their books, by indie/self-pub or big publishing house means, then the readers who have purchased those books should expect that they have gone through an editing process for at least basic grammatical and spelling errors.   If someone as grammaticallytarded as I am can spot recurring errors, then I know there is a problem.   Right?! 

I totally agree! As much as I have loved reading the Lost & Found series by JM Madden, there were quite a few typos.

Of course, I didn't actually buy the books, so who am I to complain. 

Damn, I should be sleeping but now I'm on a fic roll! Ok, my last post of the night.

Yes - I am reading a WIP! It's that good!

Yesterday I spent some time adding the outtakes I could find to my copy of EP. I came up with 8 not including the interviews or Principessa! All together, it added almost 500 pages to the document! It's a lot of extra material for an already lengthy fic. I wonder when she had the time to write another fic not related to EP!

I think some of my WIPhobia actually stems from the chapter lengths of EP.

When I read it as a WIP, I would drop everything to read the latest chapter. Sometimes, I'd have to skim the previous chapter because she wasn't overly consistent in her updating schedule, especially towards the end.

I read WIPs on my laptop because it was before I knew about flagfic (or calibre) and it was just too much stuffing around to copy and paste and then load on my e-reader. Anyway, that meant that once I started a chapter, I had to read the entire chapter, so there were many a day when I was late for work because EP chapters are monsters!

Also, there was this constant anxiety (again, towards the end) that K had flounced - there would be weeks between updates.

Speaking of vids. Everyone saw this one correct?

I'm trying to use Calibre to convert a pdf to mobi and the "job" is taking forever...    like maybe its not working.    Do you guys know what I might be doing wrong?   Trying to read Withering the Ferns on my kindle, but when I just emailed to the kindle as a pdf it didnt transfer with nice reading quality.

Withering the Ferns isn't a long story, so it shouldn't take long.  You might have to close out Calibre and open it up again.  Or check to see if there's been an update.  Sometimes Calibre acts up, so you might not being doing anything wrong at all.  If it still doesn't work and you really want to read it asap, you should just flag it since you can choose the format to mobi and email it to yourself.  I'm pretty sure Withering the Ferns is still up on ff.net.  The one by Angstgoddess, right?

Hope this helps.  I've had the same happen to me with Calibre and my impatient self just goes to flagfic as the next resort until Calibre stops pmsing.
