This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement. 

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Hi Ladies
How many of you are on Goodreads and if you are, how many have 'challenge question' for friend requests? i.e why do you want to be my friend? Mine is 'if you were a literary character who would you be? Is it wrong that I deny anyone who says 'Bella Swan'?

I really don't go to Goodreads.  And I ignore most friend requests unless I know them from somewhere else.  I tend to find it kind of useless since I mostly read fanfiction.  And I'd rather get my reviews from Amazon for real books.  I'm very slowly using the groups on Facebook.  But those are all twilight also. 

And? I would never be Bella Swan.  Um except she does get to kiss Edward.... Hmmm. decisions...decisions....

But then Stephanie Plum gets to kiss Ranger... and Joe.

I had one request where the lady said 'Tatiana Metanova' from The Bronze Horseman series. Well, I had to say 'yes'  to her! Have you read these books from Paullina Simons? Forget Bella and Edward's love story; this? This is a love story, on a scale like......well I don't even know what to compare it to. If any one of you ladies are still reading RL books and haven't read these, then RUN. START. NOW!

I was so confused when I first read it because I had no idea such a thing as fanfiction existed and having previously read Twilight I couldn't understand how someone could 'plagiarise' so obviously and get away with it! (..and hand on heart that is what I thought had happened!) So I went online to see if I was the only one who had noticed this and found a group on Goodread who were talking about it and 'fanfiction' and the rest, as they say, is history.....

This is kind of funny, being that FSOG was plagiarized from a fanfiction.  Okay not really. 

But I can just see you being all upset that someone had the nerve to copy FSOG and change the names to those annoying Twilight characters.     

You know, since reading fanfiction? I can't actually remember what was in the original story and what was in some fanfic that I read.   Especially the Vamp ones that play off the original.  My brain gets so confused.   

Why would I not accept you, my darling girl?! You know all my dirty, reading, secrets already, from here!    I had a friend request from the sister of a RL friend of mine who I had to ignore....the last thing I need is for her to tell my friend, who is a member of the House of Lords, about my guilty fanfic addiction!

I'll give you a knock the next time I'm on there then.  Might be a while as I have now finished work until September.

Edit: Oh My Lord! I'm watching it now...

No! Wait, what? No, I thought that FSOG's characters was plagiarised straight from Twilight, I thought this woman read Twilight and thought 'Oh, I'll just change the settings a bit' and got published! I didn't know that fan fiction existed.....But it just shows how similar the characterization was...for someone like me to be able to spot, having only read each twi book once. ICY really didn't make ANY changes at all before publishing; you'd have thought she'd have had to?

Um, she changed their eye colors, and I think the hair.  But mannerisms and stuff like that?  I guess she thought since it was all human, it was different enough to pass. 

But the fact you thought the characters were a plagiarization of Twilight? And then she wants to sue FSOG fanfic writers?  Yeah, that is bad.  Though her suing the fanfic writers?  I only heard that as a rumor.  I don't actually know if it is true. 

It's a guy who set up a cold calling centre in Swansea.  They are the beggars who phone us constantly!

He is amazingly successful considering the fact I, and everyone I know, just hang up on them.

The guy (Nev) is really involved in his staff, to the point of setting up date nights!  Hilarious - if you can overcome the accents.

EDIT - By the time I had typed this you had edited.  I was going to bed last week when this came on and I just had to watch it to see what happened!

Hmm is this one of those reality tv shows?  Sometimes we get BBC stuff over here.  Usually though, they take the idea and Americanize it.  It sometimes is successful and sometimes it isn't.

Reading Pattyrose's It will Be As If I'd Never Existed and the 20th of June was highlighted as a significant date in the twilight story. For 10 points can anyone tell me why?

Yes, it is a reality show.
I think it could be based very loosely on The Office - I wouldn't know as I never watched it.

I think they tried to do a call center comedy a couple years ago.  I don't think it lasted more than a month or two.  It wasn't that funny. 

I like watching the house hunting shows, the cooking competitions and the find the dress (bridal type) shows. Because I like looking at houses and bridal gowns.  And I wish I could cook.  Though I watch Hoarders as aversion therapy.  It makes me want to throw stuff out and clean the floor again.   *shudders*  oh wait, *shutters*

Did you ever see the American version of Coupling? It was so horrible, and not even so horrible you could laugh at it. It was just terrible. I used to watch the Brit version when I worked in Hong Kong and loved it.
