  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

So, since I'm loving And With Thee Fade Away so much I was looking at some others by Derdriu O'Faolain and it seems Expectations and Other Moving Pieces & The Blessing and the Curse are two other popular ones...  Have you guys read either one of them?

I think I have one of these on my kindle...   thanks for the mention!

I have read The Blessing and The Curse, I really liked it, this Edward is.....dark, rather sinister and really sexy..Loved him. Expectations has been hanging around, waiting to be completed forever; it has had only one update  (in July)  in all the time it has been on my 'Follow' list, which has been well over a year, but I think some of the sistas have been waiting much, much, longer than that.  but none of these stories are by Derdriu though ???, her other full length fic is called Clockwork, still haven't manage to get to it yet so can't advise on what it's like...

By the way is anyone else waiting for The Living Will to complete? Apparently the wait is almost over, one more chp and the epi left...

Do you really want to torture yourself this way?  Read The Cullen Legacy.  Forget those others.  ;)

I know but when I set my mind on something....If We is no where near as  :sign0023: as This Is..In terms of writing progression can now see the Legacy at the end of Cullen.  ;D

I've read The Blessing and the Curse, but by The Black Arrow. It was really good--possiveward at its highest.
Thanks ladies!  I'm not sure what I was thinking...  I thought I clicked on her FFN page and saw those listed, but now I see they are by two different people.   I'll check out Clockwork and see if it looks interesting.

Clockwork is a time travel fic.  It's a great read if you're into that.

I'm not opposed to time travel...  (that sounded funny)   The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my favorite books!

I finally finished And With Thee Fade Away and boy did I love it.   I think this is the first fic that I've read that was a bit of a whodunit with lots of action and still a swoon worthy Edward.    I REALLY liked this Edward.   He was just the right amounts of schmexy and funny.

Word :word:

Any one know why Patty 'removed' Thief of Hearts from FFN? I've got a copy but I'm just wondering....

I rarely read ANs, hardly ever, unless they are giving me recs and even then that's all I read, so imagine my surprise when I broke my own rule and glanced at one of PR's to read her pleading with readers to not be so bitchy,to think about other's feeling (namely hers) when leaving review, etc. etc. on and on, almost a chapter worth in length. The idea that any author has to plead with readers like that? F U C K!...*shakes head* It so pisses me off....this 'place ' we love? Twificdom? Leaves me speechless at times, and not in a good way.  :(... Rant over.

I didn't even realize she had pulled it. It certainly sounds like publishing to me too.

Looks like Dior is ramping up the PR - not that any more buzz is even needed!

First, there were these little viewfinder thingies:

Then some shots of the images on the viewfinder:

and then this:

As an excluse [exclusive?] preview of the upcoming DIOR HOMME perfume campaign featuring Robert Pattinson shot by Nan Goldin, I created a teaser video for TUSH Online. It is composed of small slides housed in a custom built camera, live-filmed in a New York street. In post-production, I added hand-drawn titles that served as a divider between the images.

Loopy you are now my heroine! I love the ' trained' him part of your post...I want to find a guy to  'train' to my exact requirements, Hey!  Someone should start up a  new business!
Thank you hun.  :P :-*

I got married late & my husband, although younger than me, was already fairly set in his ways.  He is not very trainable.

I think you have to get one in his late teens, early twenties. to properly train him. And if his mother spoiled him, forget it...
I think I lucked out with my hubby as his Mum was of the frame of mind that if he and his brothers didn't do certain things like: clean up after their selves, cook if they were the only one's hungry and if it wasn't meal time etc she would leave it until they would do it.
I think the hubby is the only one who still follows that mind set as his brothers wives/girlfriends/boyfriends all seem to do quite a bit for them.  ;D

Well, rumour has it that American women shave EVERYWHERE except the head  :D
I learned at school in biology that shaving your armpits is not good and when I was a teenager the girly magazines told us that bleaching your leghair is better than shaving  :)

My hubby doesn't care. He thinks it funny when I shave but doesn't think it's necessary. "Why should you? They belong to you like everything else..."  ;)
I must be an American then and not know about it as I hate hair anywhere on my body that isn't my head!!  :P
I use a You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and love it, the hubby bought it for me a few years ago and I've not had to shave or wax anything apart from my lady garden (you're not suppose to use it there) since owning it.
While pregnant I always give the hubby the job of sorting out the places I can't reach!!  :o :D

A couple of pages back someone said men peak too early. After 24 years of marriage, I don't agree with that statement. I can remember when we got married and hubs was 23, he would be lucky to last 5 min and that's if I never even choked the chicken. Hell, he'd be done before I ever got up to bat. Now knocking on 50's door, the man exhausts me. He isn't satisfied unless I have at least 1 or 2 before we ever even start (no matter how long it takes). Then another 1 or 2 before he finishes. He actually loves to utilize toys too, so thank gawd he is not home during the week. I need my rest!

Hubs isn't a personal trainer but he lifts 3 times a week, and runs 2. My only workout..... Well.... is hubs.  :D
He usually tells me that he did his special abdominal exercises. The ones to make sure his thrusts and gyrating don't tire out.  :o

So for the younger crowd, don't give up hope. After 25 years, we have finally found most of the triggers that send us to defcon 5. But you both have to be vocal on what works and be willing to experiment. He lasts for quite awhile now and has the patience and tolerance to make sure I have many before he reaches his. Heck he asks about once a month if in all my reading have I read something I would like to try. Sometimes that answer is "come here boy and follow my lead"  :)

But noooooooo. There is no complaints here.

That may have have been tmi. But I think we passed that point over a year ago.  :-*

I have to agree with you RDM.  I might joke around about my husband with other things but his s e x drive has not decreased at all in almost 20 yrs, if anything i think it has increased. That spark has not died  only intensified.  I think we are more in love now after almost 20 years then we were when we got married.

Sorry, Demaris, I read it and liked it.  Edward and Bella are a little irritating at the beginning, but I frequently feel that way.  It does take their relationship a little while to develop.

I agree FFG,  I just finished this book this weekend after a very long weekend between soccer tournaments and staying up reading this story.  I loved the book  :-*
