This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Yep, Edward and Mike. It was all about "he dragged me into the closet at school" and what he did to me, and it wasn't until the very end you realize it's Mike. Actually, if I remember right, there were some people who never even figured out it was Mike.

Damn, I can't remember WHAT it was called.

You see now that? That is not the kind of surprise I want...but it made me laugh that there are people still oblivious that they'd read slash! I wish I could be a member of that group; at least until I decide otherwise..

Well that was just heartbreaking. Beautiful, but heartbreaking.

Yes I do have to admit, it is a beautiful story, and heartbreaking...now that the shock has worn off I'm not as pissed

I finished and did think the story was really good, though not my favorite of all her stories (and not for that reason). I don't think it was as well plotted as the other 4 stories I read by her, which I really loved. I'm glad I wasn't forewarned. Looking back, I can see how integral it was to the plot and how it provided the opportunity for Bella's growth. (And I agree with lucylu that Edward isn't as well developed in this story, especially compared to her other fics.) All that said, it was a really good story.

See, I liked this Edward. Not so much for his character development, though I don't remember it being particularly weak but the fact that he is physically different from the norm, leading to the ambiguity of his ethnic make-up, all good in the hood from where I'm sitting, and that was pretty early on in my ff reading career..

She wrote the fic after twilight came out (the movie) and tell me somebody who writes twilight fan fiction not picturing Rob as Edward? I've seen some fics where Bella is someone else..... Like Emma Stone but I have never seen one that Edward was Not RP!

I call BS on her saying she did not picture Rob for the role.

And I'm glad said no to the role ... It obviously was offered to him. In a way we would see him do naughty things we only dream about but in a way he would be ruined for me the same way Ryan Gosling would of been ruined. (Does that make sense?)

Sorry to blaspheme here, but am I the only one who doesn't picture Rob when I read fanfics? I read Twilight before I saw the film and have always had a different Edward in my mind... much redder hair, eyes that became much greener once I read fanfic. Not based on any real actor I've ever seen. But I don't write fanfic, just read it so maybe that's a big difference.

My Edward is much closer to RPattz, but since RPattz has blue eyes? Yeah, my Edward is close but not exact.

I don't mind authors mixing up the physical characteristics of the characters because in my head they're a composite anyway so I just add another variable into the mix

But I don't believe Icy wasn't thinking RP when she wrote MOTU (I second that bullsh*t call Ajamm) I'm sure the banners I've seen had his mug on them, or that she never wanted him for the role, what cods wallop! She'd be so lucky, her and her silly crap books/films

Yep, the PDFs I have have him on them, one has him, shirtless, with his arms over his head. Yummy! Don't try to tell me he wasn't who she based him on.

What was the story called? The Perfect Wife is no walk in the park, I have to warn you....

....and on the theme of unexpected twists. I've just read my first Jasper/Edward without knowing. And, F**king Hell, by default my first slash lemon, sure it wasn't very long or graphically detailed but still, I'm mightily pissed! I thought the narrator was Bella, 3/4 through the story I thought. "Errr? Wait. What? Hold on. What? No!No!No! I don't read slash!! I have not made the decision to start reading slash! This is a violation of my reading rights!" And to top it all off its from...I feel so betrayed, I've just finished singing her praises...It's from TheFicChick! Judas Iscariot!! Can someone tell me why she didn't put Jasper/Edward in the summary? She wanted to catch non-slash readers with their pants down,( pardon the pun )That's the only explanation I can think of for that obvious omission Is it angst? Yes, plenty angst, even for an angsthoor like myself, tears were developing until the shock dried them up! Is it well written? Yes, as per usual *coughbitchcough* If slash is your thing then have it!

This wonderful story was from the recent Angst contest and if she revealed that it was Jasper and Edward it woud have ruined the impact of the story. I'm pretty sure she wanted you to think it was Bella.

Oh ok, now this story is familiar. I remember now reading it during the Angst contest and also feeling shocked when Jasper was revealed as the speaker. It really threw me.

And as for E.L. Sellout, yeah she seems to be changing her story quite a bit since her message board days. It all seems very contrived now and somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I read the books and can't fake that it was entertaining; she just needs to be a bit more humble in my tiny opinion.

I've always imagined Mr. Skarsard as Christian Grey. Rob wasn't "mean" or "dirty" enough to be Christian for me. It had to be someone with a rougher exterior. I still see Rob now when reading fics, just with little variations, as most of you seem to do as well. Ever since seeing Pitch Perfect, Alexis Knapp has somehow melded herself into the sluttier versions of Bella where shes a bit more bold. Otherwise, she takes on a completely unique character in my mind.

Was not successful in finding a real sportsward.

Lucky Strike by twiddler83 was just ok.

Then i came across Physical Trainer/Musicianward and it's a winner! Loved this fic!

I really can relate to Bella here (weight wise as am still struggling to lose more weight). she is cougarella and Edward is loving/possessive here. I could just imagine the exercise they were doing and thought back to when I had hired a physical trainer to lose weight years ago. Yup, if i was this much of a pervert then, i would have been cringing and very horny when my PT was doing those bending/stretching/using his body as weight thing. hadn't discovered fanfiction and p0rn then but I was already married and had 2 kids. Come to think of it, it was about the same age gap as B and E with my PT. But, nope, didn't ring any bells then, thank god! Another thing to be thankful for? While reading this fic, I didn't imagine Loopy and her hubs as I only now recalled as am typing this that it could be Loopy's story (just the cougarella/PT thing, i picture loopy as tall and thin. Am i right, loopy?) !!!

When you think about it, is there an actual script with more than a few stilted words in Debbie Does Dallas?

Yes, wasn't sure about that either. Not as good as I hoped...

I just finished Touching Solitude by catharticone. It was really good. So long but not long enough. Could've read a sequel here. I really liked that the writer did her homework and everything fit with the time (it plays around 1912). So the characters really talked/acted/lived in that time. And since Edward practiced medicine, she really researched here.

Some weeks ago I've read Wild as the West by Lfcpam. That's the exact opposite. It is said to play in the "Wild West" with settlers, carriages etc, but the characters often enough don't act like it. Pity, could have been a good story, so I'd call it mediocre.

So, now I'm readingWhite Picket What? by CaraNo, because I thought I need some fun today (

This is such a good question and it's interesting that we all read the same FFs, most have a crush on The Pretty but nearly everyone has a different picture in their head of what Edward looks like. This is why I don't like my favourite books made into films, the actors cast are never 'right' because the image in my mind is always a composite of different people. Edward for me is a fair amount of Rob, a bit of Brad (depending how old he's meant to be in the fic), mix in some James Dean, James Franco, Adrian Grenier, Heath Ledger and Ryan Gosling and your kinda close. I can, hand of heart, say though that Bella is not Kstew, ever...not sure who she if I'm honest....

My Edward has also many parts of Rob. Eyes, jaw, hair in his early Twilight days or like the first GQ photo shoot. But with a straight nose and my hub's body.

Bella is mostly a blur in my head. I don't picture a certain face, but I picture the features as the author describes them. I like fics where Bella has slightly other features than the original.

My first slash fic (totally not my first m/m) was accidental as well, I thought it was Bella and all along it was freaking Mike Newton.

I too stumbled upon my first slash fic by incident. And it was Raw and Rosy! Very very graphic.

It was the third story I started on ff.net and had no one to talk about it (totally alone in the fandom at first

), but fortunately I loved the story, the writing and I discovered my love for m/m slash stories as a result.

Or someone mentioned Michael Fassbender. I would definitely watch it then after seeing him in Shame. But with the actual cast? Not so much. I think I'll see enough pics from filming on FB or somewhere and that's it.
