This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

I know exactly what you mean. I liked White Picket What? a lot, but I had the same feeling other times. Like she's trying too hard to be funny. But at the end of the day, you can't go completely wrong with CaraNo. I still have some of her fics saved for times of reader block.

One wanted to publish and the other didn't - that's what caused the bust-up just after Dusty was completed, and then the future-take brought it all bubbling back to the surface.

Yes, wasn't sure about that either. Not as good as I hoped...

I just finished Touching Solitude by catharticone. It was really good. So long but not long enough. Could've read a sequel here. I really liked that the writer did her homework and everything fit with the time (it plays around 1912). So the characters really talked/acted/lived in that time. And since Edward practiced medicine, she really researched here.

Some weeks ago I've read Wild as the West by Lfcpam. That's the exact opposite. It is said to play in the "Wild West" with settlers, carriages etc, but the characters often enough don't act like it. Pity, could have been a good story, so I'd call it mediocre.

I know how you're feeling...my youngest started kinda a couple of weeks ago

And although I've only seen Charlie Hunnam in SoA....Matron is right on in that this dude can act. Im grateful I never read the fic or the books....this will make it easier to pretend he's not taking g the 50 role lol. I had actually started that series (SoA) over from the beginning last week to catch up before season 6 starts

I have a deep seated dental phobia so this does NOT excite me.

But...my dentist DID give a Valium to take before hand so im hoping that combined with Nitrice that I wont GAF whats going on

Yes, it's daycare from 1-3, kindergarten from 3 to 6 or 7 (depends on the birthdate) and then school.

It was painless. Normal procedure is that a parent accompanies the kid for at least the first week, well my son took the kindergarten teacher's hand and went to play. So I sat there and was bored... wish I had taken my book with me... I had a nice talk with the lunch lady, how my oldest is doing at school etc

But better that way than a`crying kid clinging to my legs, right

When my daughter was around 2 and a half, I had to take her to the dentist with me and her older brother. So we sat there and watched how the dentist cared for my son. When we were leaving, my daughter threw a huge tantrum: "I wanna too!". So we went back in his office and he had some spare time. She marched right to that dentist chair, hopped in and opened her mouth. Strange kid...

Wow, some authors give more drama than the fics they write.

Our schools offer 4-K but it's not required. At age 5 they all have to go. Public schools don't offer anything below 4k, but private schools and churches do. All my kids started at 5. I was just 3 months shy of 6 when I started because of when my birthday fell. I was always a year older than everyone else.

Demaris, I'll let you take this one - I missed it too because it was before I used twitter. From what I gathered this morning, one (Mary Elizabeth/Team Bella) wanted to publish it and one (Sarah/YellowGlue/LittleGreyAche) didn't. They both said some nasty things today, called each other liars, attention seekers, etc.

It's actually quite sad - not only is it the end of what seemed to be a close friendship, both of these writers are two of my all-time favourites! (and yes - it's all about me!!!

)
