Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Astro, if I hadn't known how much you love the diva cup, I would have sworn you wrote that review.  Oh, and that review is why I'm still on the fence about the diva cup.

Hmm. Should I admit that I am a beta for the second installment of the Movie Star series?  I find it mostly a cute story.  And my job is to catch the SPaG errors the other beta's miss.  I will say, I am not a writer, so though I sometimes comment on how a story reads, I am not all that good at giving suggestions for fixing the problems.  And she does have more lemons than I am used to.  Being as how my other two stories have no lemons so far....

But it is fun.  And it is Actorward.   She is improving the more she writes also.

I saw the Me and Mom date Edward and thought, what a trainwreck.  Though I never thought maybe he was older and Bella wasn't a teen.  I mean, I moved out as soon as I turned 18, so I tend to think others do too....  :D :D :D

I'm pretty much finished with Touching Solitude.  I would definitely rec it.  I'm reading the Fandom Fights Leukemia outtakes right now.  She glosses over the changing of Bella.  I wouldn't have minded more of that.  But then it would have been a thousand pages.....  Oh wait! It probably is that long already.....  ;D

I am acutally enjoying Redtini's stories.  Not the Best I have read but it is an easy read and I love anything Actorward.

I have fond memories of a day trip to the Napa Valley when I was 18. It's very similar to our Barossa Valley, and also Tasmania makes beautiful wine. Actually Tassie is an epicurean's wet dream! Amazing wine, seafood, produce, cheese, beef, lamb - everything!

I don't think I've ever had a bad NZ wine and there are some really fabulous Aussie wines, although I have had some really terrible Australian wine - image drinking vinegar ... then peeing in a bottle ... then drinking that!

What's the Aussie wine that you have?
Lindeman's Bin 40 Merlot. I went on a wine buying blitz. But all relatively inexpensive wines.

I've had crappy French and Italian wines, and surprisingly good ones from Spain.  I always laugh though when ff writers write about wine when the characters live in Seattle.  Washington has some great wines. They will be Chardonnays, zinfandels, merlots, sauvignon blancs, and maybe a pinky noir or grigio.  But never a -what was it? -saucers?

We don't have wines like that.  And no one who loves wine buys "white" or "red" wine.  That usually means a mix of too many grapes.  And though mixes can turn out well, the good ones a few and far between - at least in the US. ;)

I'm going to see if I can find a decent priced NZ wine & try it.  We are seeing more and more Argentinian and Chilean wines here too. ;)

I can't do the "twist" either, but it still works with nary a drop of spillage in months!

And I do still love the Diva Cup - you really should climb that fence (which you could do with no fear with a diva cup...even in white pants!) and get one.

Even the woman in the review said she liked it - once she figured out how to remove it!

I haven't read any of Counselor's stories so I didn't really know what to expect, but this one - wow! It's grabbed me by the ... balls (um, that doesn't write as good as it sounds!) and I am so glad that she is updating every day.

I know this was a few pages back, but I just have to say how worthwhile reading Counselor's stories are. I FLOVE her work! Her historical fics are the best, and she really gets into the language of the time period's settings. That can be a little challenging for the reader, but so worth it. I can't wait until this latest WIP is complete so I can start it! I don't even care if it has a squicky summary.  :)

It's nowhere near our best either. Just because you bung a picture of a 'roo on it, it doesn't make it any good!

A bit like Foster's beer - no one in Australia drinks Fosters. I don't even think you can buy it here, but everywhere I've been overseas, people always try to buy me a Foster's!  :sign0137:

If you can get Oyster Bay wine from NZ, it will be worth every cent. Actually, anything from the Marlborough region is good. NZ has a much cooler climate that Australia and heaps more rain.

hmmmm. I have wanted to try it, but wondered how I would explain the mounting brackets that would stay up. I mean to hold me up as well as a shake and bake activity, I assume it needs to be mounted into ceiling trusses.  :o
Hang a plant or light or some kind of decorative object from it when it's not in use.  :)

I know, but I'm always out and about at work - sometimes with not a bathroom, port-a-potty, or a trailer bathroom in sight for hours at a time, so the thought of any leakage brings back horrifying flashbacks from when I was a tween or that time 2 years ago when I was at a wedding  :(.   I may just have to put on my brave girl panties and maybe slap a panty liner on there in case.   ^-^

12 hours! 12 hours and no leakage! And this is someone who doesn't do public toilets!

I've had YellowTail wine.  I know the company that imports it.  They make cheap wine that is sometimes good, sometimes crap.  So I didn't expect much.  It was okay.  Nothing I would buy again.

We have a place called Trader Joe's that gets a good selection of wines at decent prices.  I try a lot of stuff from there.

LOL! Now I sound like a lush! But my 80+ year old mother swears by her glass of wine in the evening....

Not a fan of Yellowtail a bit to bitter for me.  LOVE LOVE LOVE Merlot and Cabernet - Chateau St. Michelle,  Salmon Creek.  Educated Guess is wonderful,  Smooth as silk but should be at $25 a bottle here on Long Island.

Chateau St. Michelle makes some great wine.  I'm thinking I could get Educated Guess for less.  But that's because the shipping would be lower... And our wine taxes are cheaper in California... ;D

Fortunately we have a thick beam in our living room and could fix the hook there. It's only one hook with a chain. The hook is fixed so it hides behind the beam and you only see it if you sit on our couch. And the swing rests in our bedroom when not used.  Hubs is funnily enough a little prude about the hook (apart from that not a bit), but I don't give a f... if anyone sees it. I go with the Sten's words here: "Keep 'em guessing."  >:D

Ohhh I am jealous, that E.G would cost you less but it makes sense since you live there.  i had 1 bottle of E.G. and i was hooked.

I have a hard time finding the Washington Wines at the liquor stores close to me.  The California ones and of course the Long Island ones are everywhere.

I have had the Ch. St. Michelle Riesling but am not a big fan of whites.  It was good wont deny that but I guess I am just a Red wine girl by heart

I can't handle clean shaven legs on a man - and actually seeing a guy shave his legs - it's like a cold shower!

Anyway...phew! They're not smooth - they kinda look like what mine looked like a few weeks ago when it was still Winter-ish!

Woah, I had to look twice after Loopy's post and had to enlarge the pic!
TG he doesn't shave his legs. I don't like men with shaved legs.  :sign0137:
I like my men not too hairy, but manly legs and arms must have hair and not too few!
I'm  just realizing I'm really picky! *irony on* The perfect man must have exactly 5.4 hairs per sq cm skin.  :D
