Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Blast from the past. I was searching for a link to The Cullen Campaign and found this.

Can anyone name the author of such useful and profound advise?

If i recall correctly, it was Astro... :)

As always it is each to their own but I thought it was a good fic and I have read it a couple of times.  I must admit that the last time I skimmed the smexing.  I think I am suffering from FF smexing fatigue.
LOL! Yes!  The fatigue does set in.  I used to switch between romances and mysteries. Now that I read pretty much all fanfics, switching isn't that easy.

I may try Tango again. I think I read 2 chapters and it wasn't grabbing me.  But then, I'm not a big angst hoor. ;)

Actually, I don't mind angst. I just don't like the style of writing used in angsty stories. I always feel like I'm reading something written by a depressed person. Which makes me feel depressed.  And I realize from the number of popular books written in that style, there are either a lot of depressed writers out there or other readers don't have the same reaction I have.  ;)

LOL! Probably the latter.  ;D

Since My Ex Con finished I have read nothing but Harry Potter fics.  I find them a refreshing changed from Twilight but I see Onwind is posting a new fic.  I like her gentle, slightly off the wall Voturi centric fics.

For anyone who saw my post yesterday regarding the InDeath series being made into a movie/movies by Amber Entertainment, we (the InDeath site) got a smackdown from Nora Roberts via her assistant Laura yesterday and today - in large green font/caps.   We smacked back in kind only in smaller font respectfully.   AJ closed the thread and tried again with rules this time on being respectful - and that includes Nora.  So far the response to a movie is lukewarm - mainly because the powers that be have a tendency to screw up movie adaptations.  Let it not be said we are shy and retiring.  Nora needs to stop taking herself so seriously and realize that unlike her former site ADWOFF (Another day without French fries - don't ask me why it was called that - I have no idea), we don't have a tendency to kiss ass.

I'm impressed you got that far already. I though you were reading other stuff. It's harmless and Eve knows that. The further it gets the better. Especially once you get to Loyalty in Death.

I'm on Loyalty now,
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I read real quick and I tend to read more than one book/fic at a time...I know it's harmless but after the 100,000th time I'd be over it.....I'd also be over people just wanting to hang-out at my house all the time. Shiiiit....

Yeah, I started it but was coming across as a little too much PWP for me. We had a discussion here about it and I decided it wasn't my cup of tea. It is based on the movie Last Tango in Paris. So Booked there may be a reason why you haven't read it.  ;)

Is it?  :o Are you sure?  :o Because I've seen that film and that fic has no similarities

Well, she is in the education business.  I hope her trip to the US goes well.

BTW, Demaris, besides the butter issue, I think the other similarity to Last Tango in Paris is two strangers having sex in an apartment, maintaining their anonymity even though they're falling in love.  Let's see what else I remember from the movie.  The man is a damaged character, the girl has a boyfriend...that might be it.

Hey demaris - you're moving right along if you are up to Loyalty.  Did you remember to read Midnight in Death, the short story which in the timeline immediately follows Holiday In Death?  Midnight has the distinction of having  a killer (David Palmer) who at the time that I read it shared a name with my then prosthidontist.   That was a little strange at the time. Can't wait for you to hit Survivor and be devastated by the morgue scene with Nixie saying goodbye to her parents.   or Imitation (I think it's Imitation) when Roarke has the fight with the barbecue and the barbecue wins.  Its possibly one of the few books in the series (along with Survivor) where Roarke discovers that even with all his money, he can't make Nixie's aunt love or want her or get the barbecue to do what he wants it to.

Okay, maybe I'm wrong?   I've never seen the movie and I didn't get very far in the fic. I was just going by the comments here. What I've seen of the movie makes me want to run in the other direction.  So I guess there's an HEA at the end?

Definitely an HEA and while it felt a little angsty as a WIP, it's not really that angsty.

Yeah there's a HEA.....I just, it had such a different feel to the movie I didn't even pick up on the similarities FFG just mentioned; well, the damaged man would defo not have alerted me as Mr Edward is allllllwaaaayyys bloody damaged! And I don't remember much about Bella; nothing new there then!  :D I'll have to re-read now...bloody hell as if I haven't got enough fics to be getting on with...

Sorry I can't reply to your post Ruthhazelton, I've only read the first line as you might have been telling me plot points of In death novels I haven't read yet, which is like a kiss of death to a story for me.  Sooooo, yeah, I'm not ignoring you, just can't read your post.... :P

LOL!  Your idea of a little angst and my idea are vastly different I think. :D :D :D :D

See, my memory sucks for some things but I do tend to remember something about the discussion on that story made me not want to go any further. ;)

And it could be the amount of lemons. Don't get me wrong, I like a good lemon. Just not so many. And really?  I love UST.  That's what will really keep me reading. ;D

There were a lot of lemons I remember that much....Errr? Angsty? Nope, can't remember feeling particularly sorrowful when reading it, but yes, that might be my high level angst tolerance  :P

Actually,  demaris, you could have read a little further in the post.  The killer is known at the beginning of Midnight in Death so I'm not really giving anything away.   At the rate you are reading, Imitation is nine books away (actually 8 books plus one short story) so you should hit Imitation by maybe the end of next week  - I could be a trifle conservative on that estimate.   At any rate you should be caught up with the series by September when Festive comes out.

I'm 70% into Tropic of Virgo and I really really liked the first half, but now there is just so much miscommunication going on between E&B that I want to smack them both.    I don't mind a little miscommunication, but at some point it just ridiculous.    Anyway, I'm sure they'll get things straightened out and I'll end up loving this fic.   I am definitely enjoying the lyrics and beautiful words they're sharing online (without knowing it's the other person).

I really need to give Harry Potter fics a chance one of these days...  I can't remember the name but I bookmarked a fic series that someone said was a great one (and if I remember correctly maybe even JKR gave it a nod?).

I finally stopped reading Harry Potter fic, for the moment. Instead, I have fallen headlong into Teen Wolf fanfic, reading Sterek (Stiles/Derek) slash. I don't even watch the show, but I'm loving the fics!

I don't know Teen Wolf but I have been reading a number of crossovers as well. I am really enjoying a HP - Georgette Heyer crossover, I just love the amount of imagination there is out there.

:iagree:   :)

Am definitely rethinking reading this. Work is angsty enough (that's why i haven't read a fic or book in 2 days!  :'(  :-\). Plus the hellish traffic the past few days (ave. of 2 fckng hours to travel 19 goddamned kms one way!!!) has not put me in a good mood.  :pulling  :banghead:

Days like these, i tend to hate the government, the stupid motorcycles, the damned buses, the fckng jeepneys and all the moronic drivers in this country!!!!  :pulling :pulling :pulling

Sorry to vent
