Anyone know any good E/B stories? I've read quite a lot, but I'm open to recs
Written in the Stars by Lissa Bryan is really good. I also like The Selkie Wife.
If you scroll up a few posts, fanficgirl has posted some links to discussions of top 10 or top 3 fics. Most will be E/B stories.Do you have a specific genre you like? That might help us identify fics to rec. I tend to like sci-fi stories so some of my favorites are Written in the Stars by Lissa Bryan and Elemental by TallulahBelle; so it might help to give us a few of the stories you like.
I saw this post earlier when I was on the phone to Marcus and told him what you said, he was curious so I emailed Dusty to him. I wonder if I keep nagging I can get the rest of the boys to read it and I'll let you know what they think of it.
I flove Blank White Page so much! I love Mumford full stop but that song? It's Mother's Milk to me......I'm going to read Innocents too, just to see; even though I tend not to read published fics if I've already read the fanfiction, but this? Yeah, this is going to be the exception to the rule. Written In The Star took some getting use to Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.but once you stop thinking Twilight and just go where the author takes you, it shapes up to be one of the best stories in the fandom; brilliant use of imagination and imagery. I second Loopy Girl's big up of Lordes' Pure Heroine. Pure summer, totally Dustyesque
Ok, I am 85% finished with Me Before You by JoJo Moyes and it's rocking my world... I really really hope it doesn't fizzle at the end.
Well, now that's not something you hear everyday! "I'm going to get M&S to read a fic!" Wow, please keep us posted. I think they actually referenced more than one if their songs in the fic... or was it the Avett Brothers I'm thinking of on the other one?One of the best stories in the fandom? Whaaat? I had no idea you felt so strongly about that one. I just bumped it up on my list even further. ;-) Would you believe I've only ever heard her song, Royals? I almost never listen to the radio but loved Royals the second I heard it. I'll have to check out her other stuff.Ok, I am 85% finished with Me Before You by JoJo Moyes and it's rocking my world... They reference a Liar, Little Iron Man, Not With Haste, and I think...Feel The Tide?
I needed that laugh today - I'm gonna ask the boys how that song goes again.
Maybe one day I'll work up the nerve to read the In Death series, although I don't know if I want to go down that road. I need complete stories
And late response, the character from the Colleen Hoover novel that people were using as an example of on when boys are scary and you should be running for your life, was Dean Holder from Hopeless. I didn't get the creepy vibe from him, except for when he followed her out to the parking lot and asked who she was. Obviously she was unsettled, but he later apologized and explained himself. Then goes on to think about what a creep he probably seemed like in the book with his point of view, Losing Hope.
My husband got that book (and others by JoJo Moyes since he googled "books women like" or something) for me, since he thought I should read something other than fanfiction. Maybe I'll try it next.
Ooo please let me know how you like Me Before You! I read it last week and enjoyed it up until the epilogue. I have a lot of feelings about that book.
They reference a Liar, Little Iron Man, Not With Haste, and I think...Feel The Tide? The Avett Brothers is Colleen Hoover's band of choice for Slammed, floved them too. Yeah I do, mainly because the author took a chance and wrote a story which went against expectations, without upsetting the status quo; she gave us all the elements the majority of twific readers want in a story but gave it to us is a fresh, unexpected package. Normally the only way to really do this now, after, what? 6-7years of Twifics? Is to take a story to an extreme most readers don't like, because, after all let's face it, almost every storyline has been done to death, sometimes done really well, sometimes just...to death. I think Written is an really good example of how to tread a well worn road in new shoes and discover unseen sights.
Go to YouTube and listen to Buzzcut Season - reminds me the most of Dusty and you get the feel of the rest of the album.
I just made it Secret so I will have to post a link. This should work. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
I saw it recommended on Goodreads and it had so many 5 start reviews I just had to give it a chance. It was so different than anything I've ever read before. Definitely give it a try! Before I got my kindle my husband used to get me books he thought I'd like every Christmas. I tried lots of books that I wouldn't have otherwise read. Believe it or not, one of them was Twilight! LOL He was just sure I'd be giddy over it and he was right. I finished it last night... I'm going to put my thoughts in spoiler code so as not to ruin the end for anybody. Don't read these if you're going to read the book! It's good not knowing what's going to happen. Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Good stuff!
The music had changed again. When his mind cleared enough for him to tune in to it, he recognized Paul Simon’s clever twists of lyrics and melody.
The soft tune of Pink’s “Funhouse” sings underneath the trash bag—my unknown ID ringtoneThe air conditioner is turned up as high as it will go and “Shake it Out” by Florence + The Machine plays from the speakers. I step out into the cool breeze. Rise Against “Like an Angel” blasts from the speakers next door. She lies on the bed next to me and we stare at the Chevelle poster on my ceiling.
re: Me Before You Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Now here's some examples from a book called The Secret of Ella and MicahNow I just feel like I'm reading something that MTV is pushing on me. There's SO many books I've read recently that are like that, one of the books I read even had the playlist at the beginning. Is it just me is that too descriptive? These authors are also the kind that will spend an entire paragraph detailing the outfits of their characters. I really don't care what brand of shoes they're wearing or the cut of their dress!
Cattybratty - a lot of people seem to start in the middle of the series. I first started reading them 11 years ago when someone at work was trying to get me started on the series. I borrowed Purity and it sat on top of my stereo for 4 months before I actually started reading. I was so hooked it was pathetic. I had surgery scheduled for October of 2003 and picked up the first 5 to get me through my recuperation period. At Christmas I got $150 in gift cards and money and used it all to get caught up to whatever the latest book was. These days a friend and I take turns buying the latest book and then I end up with it to keep. If I don't lay a claim to it, it would end up on her internet book swap so why waste the time putting it on the list? The only one I don't own (and no I don't own a kindle) is I think Indulgence. Neither of us had extra money at the time and we both got it from the library - me in hardcover and her on audio. The only one I haven't finished is Fantasy - I quit halfway thru it - although conversations in the first part of the book (especially between Eve and Peabody were hysterical - I was on the phone one day with Stephanie Losleben/lostluggage/solostintwilight and I had her in giggles reading it to her).
