Um because FFDL doesn't like the stories you chose?

Just kidding. There should be a new update out there that fixes the problem. GemAB posted a link to the fix a few pages ago. But it should be available through Calibre by now.  ;)

I don't usually read those alt POV stories, but I read the Landon/Lucas book the day it came out, and I really loved it. I felt like it added a LOT to the story! I started the alt POV for Slammed, but got bored, and I never bothered with Travis' POV on Beautiful Disaster, reviews didn't make it seem worth the time, that it didn't add much new information.

Has anyone here read the pubbed version of Clipped Wings/Inked Armor yet? I know the prequel, part 1, and a side story are out already, with part 2 due out this week sometimes, and I was wondering how much was changed, if the story was maybe tightened up any.

I STILL have about 50 pages of Clipped Wings and Inked Armor to read.  I keep telling myself to just sit down and DO IT already, but then allow myself to be distracted by something else (all the WIPs I'm following, a re-read of a Kristen Ashley favorite, something I haven't read by Sylvia Day or just any old thing).  I can see myself flipping through the published version just to see if there are any changes other than the names of the characters, but since it is being published in multiple parts, I'm assuming it hasn't been tightened up near enough.  I was even thinking of re-reading The Misapprehension of Bella Swan (which I like) before finishing CW & IA to remind myself why I enjoyed this author's writing.

Thanks for mentioning this alternate POV book by Tammara Webber! Easy is one of my favorite books and I loved Landon/Lucas so I will definitely be reading this soon.  I really loved Losing Hope and also the last book in the Slammed series because it was so nice revisiting those stories after it had been so long since I originally read them.  Though, both of those did add a good bit of new material too.   I still haven't read the Travis' POV for Beautiful Disaster but I've heard good things about it.

Oops, let me clarify. Rush too far didnt add much. Breakable showed what happened to Landon after his mother's death. the book alternates bet. present Lucas and past Landon. Nothing new when it comes to the relationship with Jacqueline.
Agree, Travis POV of BD also didnt add much.
still, loved all of them!  :)

Reading all your comments I'm so glad I didn't read Dusty and I'm sure I never will. Perhaps in 20 years when all my kids are married with kids on their own (OK, make that 30 years...)

Thats one of the reasons I don'r read much hifghschool fics. I'm starting to think about their parents and their families. I don't get the teenage angst anymore...

Can't really elaborate since I'm posting from my phone but I think the whole teen angst genre is probably the easiest to write about since we've all been there at some point. Sometimes they embellish a little and make the characters cooler than they probably would have been, which is okay. Just.a bit overdone. But now I definitely have a harder time relating and even reading it. My older friends have teenage kids that I'm some what friendly with that are dumb dumb dumb and it's just so painful to watch them pull all the same mistakes and you just want to steer them on the right path and I sometimes get that way with stories too!

I think comparing it to American Idol is a bit.....optimistic? Every year, when I hear Eurovision mention, I experience the same surprise that this event is still being held. It's a little like Ms World; something that should have gone the way of the Dodo but hasn't, go figure?! But maybe its just us Brits that take the piss. Literally the one sure way to torpedo your singing career here is to just stick your neck out and sing for Britain at Eurovison, you will never be heard/seen again.  Plus this years UK contestant almost sat in Fassy's lap, so she certainly should go swim with the fishes...You are not allowed to view links. We moved to Europe a few years ago, so Eurovision is still new and interesting to me.  Maybe UK singers have so many other ways of getting worldwide attention, that they don't need the platform of Eurovision, maybe thats a problem with all of the Big 5.

Where did you move to Europe from Bluegeek? I don't think that any of the singers that have won Eurovision in the last 10, regardless of country, have achieved worldwide fame; ABBA wrote and then tore up the rule book on that one. And for all the 'talent' that British singers might have we never send anyone we'd take seriously as a performer...I think the last time we won was with Bucks Fizz in 1981!!!  :D Honestly? I just think the whole thing is a waste of money...

Kimmie, I feel slightly guilty  :-\ But it's worth it, right? The angst? Isn't the writing/storytelling superb?!
:) Don't feel guilty...  you're right, it's worth it and I've even read some parts more than once. LOL  It still amazes me that people can write stories like this that evoke so much emotion.  I read chapter 36 last night that is told from the POV of Bliss' heart and called it quits after that... it was close to midnight and I couldn't take anymore.  I'll finish the rest of the fic tonight!   And I totally get why this story can't really have a typical HEA.  There is just no way that it can make sense with these two.

This story keeps reminding me a little of Wide Awake...  I know it's different stories, but both about two young people that spend most of their time together when everybody else is asleep, hiding their relationship etc.   As of right now, while I do think this is a great fic, I don't think that it is better than Wide Awake if I'm comparing the two.    We'll see how I feel once this story wraps up.

Good point about the teen angst genre...  you're right, we have all been there in one way or another.   I still love reading the teen angst if they smarten up and the story ends up on a positive note.   Actually, I think those first love stories are probably my favorite kind of romance to read about.     With Dusty, this story is just so so sad and tragic.  They had several sweet moments early on, but those just made what's become of them even more difficult to read about.    Did I mention that I miss his blue eyes? Question about the chapter layout for Dusty...

Do you guys know why that this is Chapter 36, but a few lines down it says it's actually "Chapter Thirty Four" (written out like that).   I've noticed this previously and am wondering why it's off like that.

I think that happens when the author doesn't classify the prologue as a chapter and FFN does, if you look FFN classifies the prologue as chapter 1 while the authors classifies Isabella Bliss as chapter 1....but also with two people writing it they might just have missed counted where they were..

CW&IA is one of my two flounced fics also; High Fidelity was the other one but I went back and finished it....Astro threatened my life if I didn't.

Okay maybe I shouldn't have said worldwide attention, considering as we were back in the US for the contest last year so I had no idea who won.  But I think the winner at least gets some stardom boost for a little while.

I don't know if its true, but someone said ORF (the Austrian national broadcaster) told Conchita Wurst not to win, cause they didn't have the money to host, so it is an expensive event to put on.  I think Eurovision will continue to happen until some of the big countries don't have entries.

It is most likely going to be in Vienna, so we are kinda excited to see the spectacle that is Eurovision, even if we don't attend the performances.

Wow I never thought to compare Wide Awake to Dusty, but Wide Awake was the first Twilight fanfiction I ever read, so it holds the most special place on my little metaphorical fanfic bookshelf  ^-^ I can definitely see how they mirror each other now that I think about it, but Wide Awake has a better plot to work with, IMO. That Bella and Edward were both emotionally damaged individuals that managed to find solace in each others company. Plus, I'm a sucker for resolution in the stories I'm reading so I really enjoyed the fact that Edward knew he was messed up and needed to seek help outside of his bedroom walls where he was tucked away with Bella most of the time. Dusty is just another example of asking myself "Why does anyone do anything?" Because they can. What you mentioned about teen love is so true! Those two were so wrapped up in one another, even though that much co-dependency is really not healthy, but when you're a teenager in love no one can really tell you otherwise. Outside of school work the only thing they really had to worry about was the other, because they didn't have jobs, their parents still paid for everything, so your biggest extracurricular activity turns into being the best girlfriend ever.

I just had a hard time relating to anyone in Dusty. Logically, I understand that they're teenagers, which really explains everything, but I still want to roll my eyes and wonder why they're so serious. They're babies.

Thats one of the reasons I don't read much highschool fics. I'm starting to think about their parents and their families. I don't get the teenage angst anymore...

Now I can elaborate! Pretty much everything I just wrote above can apply to this, too. There are so many stories that I'd probably be able to grasp a lot easier if I read them through the eyes of my obliviously naive teenage self. As much as I'd like to read really thought provoking, well written stories that have a realistic plot, I just can't find them in abundance. I feel like authors write so much better if they have first hand knowledge on what they're writing about, which is why whenever I'm reading something that features an older and married couple, I just get really into the story because that is something I have no knowledge of whatsoever. So reading about some married couple becomes like a fantasy~ to me. Reading about teenagers, even if it's something that's beautifully written has turned me into every single adult that I hated when I was a teenager. "You're so young, just wait until you meet the real world!" Every single conflict I had as a teenager is just so petty and childish, compared to the types of things I handle as an adult. So yes, it's hard to read, but every now and then there's a story I find and root for the characters just to see how they handle what life has (or in the case, the author) thrown at them. But mostly I sit there thinking about how dumb they are for what they're doing, but there wouldn't be any plot if they were smart teenagers ;) I wouldn't have had the chance to do half of what the kids do in some stories, because my mom didn't trust any of my friends for a very good reason!

Twilight fanfiction is also really amazing, because it's on the message boards that I've discovered that there's a lot of you that married your high school sweethearts, or have been happily married for a good amount of time. These stories are an escape from reality, where Bella and Edward manage to make it as a couple outside of high school and college, which is really, really not the norm with most people I know.

Okay, so I was a bit bored and looking for something real quick to read last night and I came across this one-shot and I quite enjoyed it, I was crying so much by the end though - but that's not saying a lot as I cry at loads of stuff (stupid hormones)

Aww, thank you Booked  :-*

It's a short one shot, the prompt for which was April 20th, look a like day. It's only a quick read, hope you like it. :)

Lol, I think we all know how that would go as I do love a c*ck!!!  :P :P
Yes hun, you've been very subtle - like a brick!!!  :D :D
You would never cull my membership as I come bearing gifts and they were only taken 2 days ago at the NY premier for X-Men.  :)
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
No probs hun, I'll take my scythe and pitch-fork with me.  ;)
I really do own these so be very scared City Boys, be very scared!!!!  :D :DBoth are really good movies but definitely watch Fish Tank as Mike sings in it.  :)
I think most peeps have OFD but won't admit it as they're scared of what Mrs Fassy will start charging for the membership fee.  :D :DHun, you're forgetting we won in '97 when Katrina and The Waves represented us.  ::) ::) :D :D

Darn it! Another set of panties for the waste bin! I really wish Myla would make them a bit more durable (or Fassy proof), jeez is it too much to ask!

I'm happy for all OFD to come out of the closet, as long as they look but do not touch!  >:(

AND MS LOOPY? STOP CALLING HIM MIKE!

Shit! How could I forget Katrina and The Waves?!  :-[  It was only 17 years ago!!!  ::) And I'm sure they've lost count of the amount of awards they've won since then. Not. I think I'm going to start an anti-Eurovison campaign; just for shit and giggles....
