Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!Does anyone know why my Calibre would be writing "dislike" on all of FictionPad's stories? Is it happing to you all also?
I don't usually read those alt POV stories, but I read the Landon/Lucas book the day it came out, and I really loved it. I felt like it added a LOT to the story! I started the alt POV for Slammed, but got bored, and I never bothered with Travis' POV on Beautiful Disaster, reviews didn't make it seem worth the time, that it didn't add much new information.Has anyone here read the pubbed version of Clipped Wings/Inked Armor yet? I know the prequel, part 1, and a side story are out already, with part 2 due out this week sometimes, and I was wondering how much was changed, if the story was maybe tightened up any.
Thanks for mentioning this alternate POV book by Tammara Webber! Easy is one of my favorite books and I loved Landon/Lucas so I will definitely be reading this soon. I really loved Losing Hope and also the last book in the Slammed series because it was so nice revisiting those stories after it had been so long since I originally read them. Though, both of those did add a good bit of new material too. I still haven't read the Travis' POV for Beautiful Disaster but I've heard good things about it.

Um because FFDL doesn't like the stories you chose? Just kidding. There should be a new update out there that fixes the problem. GemAB posted a link to the fix a few pages ago. But it should be available through Calibre by now.
That would suck because that was 35 of my WIPs it didn't like.... Thanks, I will just wait for the update to show on my Calibre.
Reading all your comments I'm so glad I didn't read Dusty and I'm sure I never will. Perhaps in 20 years when all my kids are married with kids on their own (OK, make that 30 years...)Thats one of the reasons I don'r read much hifghschool fics. I'm starting to think about their parents and their families. I don't get the teenage angst anymore...
I think comparing it to American Idol is a bit.....optimistic? Every year, when I hear Eurovision mention, I experience the same surprise that this event is still being held. It's a little like Ms World; something that should have gone the way of the Dodo but hasn't, go figure?! But maybe its just us Brits that take the piss. Literally the one sure way to torpedo your singing career here is to just stick your neck out and sing for Britain at Eurovison, you will never be heard/seen again. Plus this years UK contestant almost sat in Fassy's lap, so she certainly should go swim with the fishes...You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
We moved to Europe a few years ago, so Eurovision is still new and interesting to me. Maybe UK singers have so many other ways of getting worldwide attention, that they don't need the platform of Eurovision, maybe thats a problem with all of the Big 5.
I STILL have about 50 pages of Clipped Wings and Inked Armor to read. I keep telling myself to just sit down and DO IT already, but then allow myself to be distracted by something else (all the WIPs I'm following, a re-read of a Kristen Ashley favorite, something I haven't read by Sylvia Day or just any old thing). I can see myself flipping through the published version just to see if there are any changes other than the names of the characters, but since it is being published in multiple parts, I'm assuming it hasn't been tightened up near enough. I was even thinking of re-reading The Misapprehension of Bella Swan (which I like) before finishing CW & IA to remind myself why I enjoyed this author's writing.
Kimmie, I feel slightly guilty But it's worth it, right? The angst? Isn't the writing/storytelling superb?!
Can't really elaborate since I'm posting from my phone but I think the whole teen angst genre is probably the easiest to write about since we've all been there at some point. Sometimes they embellish a little and make the characters cooler than they probably would have been, which is okay. Just.a bit overdone. But now I definitely have a harder time relating and even reading it. My older friends have teenage kids that I'm some what friendly with that are dumb dumb dumb and it's just so painful to watch them pull all the same mistakes and you just want to steer them on the right path and I sometimes get that way with stories too!
Let me know the day you finally finish CW&IA, it might spur me on to start reading it again!
Don't feel guilty... you're right, it's worth it and I've even read some parts more than once. LOL It still amazes me that people can write stories like this that evoke so much emotion. I read chapter 36 last night that is told from the POV of Bliss' heart and called it quits after that... it was close to midnight and I couldn't take anymore. I'll finish the rest of the fic tonight! And I totally get why this story can't really have a typical HEA. There is just no way that it can make sense with these two. This story keeps reminding me a little of Wide Awake... I know it's different stories, but both about two young people that spend most of their time together when everybody else is asleep, hiding their relationship etc. As of right now, while I do think this is a great fic, I don't think that it is better than Wide Awake if I'm comparing the two. We'll see how I feel once this story wraps up. I think even when I'm an old lady this story would still be too much to take! LOL Of all the characters, typically Renee would be the last one I could relate to... but with this one, gosh! I just hate to think of someone's kid hurting this much. It's definitely a bitter dose of reality.Good point about the teen angst genre... you're right, we have all been there in one way or another. I still love reading the teen angst if they smarten up and the story ends up on a positive note. Actually, I think those first love stories are probably my favorite kind of romance to read about. With Dusty, this story is just so so sad and tragic. They had several sweet moments early on, but those just made what's become of them even more difficult to read about. Did I mention that I miss his blue eyes? LOL
Question about the chapter layout for Dusty... You are not allowed to view links. Register or LoginDo you guys know why that this is Chapter 36, but a few lines down it says it's actually "Chapter Thirty Four" (written out like that). I've noticed this previously and am wondering why it's off like that. CW&IA is one of only 2 fics that I've flounced. I may someday try to read the published version and see if things were trimmed down any.
Where did you move to Europe from Bluegeek? I don't think that any of the singers that have won Eurovision in the last 10, regardless of country, have achieved worldwide fame; ABBA wrote and then tore up the rule book on that one. And for all the 'talent' that British singers might have we never send anyone we'd take seriously as a performer...I think the last time we won was with Bucks Fizz in 1981!!! Honestly? I just think the whole thing is a waste of money...

You would never cull my membership as I come bearing gifts and they were only taken 2 days ago at the NY premier for X-Men. Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents. No probs hun, I'll take my scythe and pitch-fork with me. I really do own these so be very scared City Boys, be very scared!!!! :DBoth are really good movies but definitely watch Fish Tank as Mike sings in it.
