Well, I just finished reading Dusty. I'm very glad that I took the leap of faith (Thanks, Demaris!) and read this. It was really good. Really sad and tragic, and not remotely fluffy, but I'm glad I read it. I said earlier that I hadn't cried yet, but I did cry in Chapter 38... Don't read further if you don't want to have the ending spoiled... I have lot of thoughts on the ending! So, a long rambling post there but now after reading Dusty I understand why so many folks couldn't really say one way or another whether it ended with an HEA.
I recall it was mentioned that Trippin' is a darkward and he is also into drugs as the summary states. Is this correct? The only really angsty ones i read were Emancipation Proclamation and Offside. I loved them both despite the situations they were in. A lot of "sweet"/loving scenes were in there to satisfy me plus a clear cut HEA bec they ended up together. I guess what am asking those who've read all 4 is if Trippin' is full of feel good/romantic scenes that compensates/makes the angst bearable? With a definite HEA?
Thanks for this! After all the comments, i feel like i've "read" it myself without investing myself too much. I can just imagine the type of scenarios they faced in the story. It does sound like it was great writing and storytelling to have such strong emotions from the readers. But, a coked up HS Edward and an HEA up in the air? Definitely not my cup of tea. Not replacing any of my top 15 but it is one of the very good ones i'd also rec. Such a fluffy read with negligible angst, just what the doctor ordered for my current stress levels. Ta, lovelies, for the rec!

I noticed a weird discrepancy and maybe you guys won't remember if you haven't read it recently, Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents. So, a long rambling post there but now after reading Dusty I understand why so many folks couldn't really say one way or another whether it ended with an HEA.
I don't think Edward was the drug user in that story, if I remember correct, (it's vampward, can vamps do drugs?) but it was if not the first then one of the first fics I ever read so I'm a bit hazy on specifics apart from the genius that is YellowGlue's writing (Booked we're friend on Goodread I have a review up if that'll help). Its really romantic (the language she writes in helps with that) and plenty of feel good to counteract the angsts. Read it!
NB. OK, can someone please tell me ....What. The. F*ck?! You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login I would pay big money to listen to this audio...
Romantic with a lot of feel good, i can handle angst with that combo. Putting it back on my TBR Yup, sure would like to be a fly in the wall. he must have really done something pretty f*cked up. to his credit, i give him props for not fighting back with a woman...
Put it at the top!
You guys have made me really want to read Dusty now so I can have my own opinions on the story. Reading Trippin now and only in like 10%, so just barely getting involved with the characters. About to read in just a bit and looking forward to what this story will be about!!!
That's a great way of looking at it. It's not your typical HEA but it does end on a positive note. There's A part in the email which made me really laugh - Bella's writing about giving Edward a BJ and how she gagged so much she was nearly sick on him. ;DI've literally just re-read Dusty and I totally forgot about the phone incident. Probably cos I'm so emotionally wrung out while reading it. Next time I read it I'm gonna make sure I keep my eye out for that as I know that in pretty much any other fic that type of thing would bug the hell out of me.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it....I can stop biting my nails in worry now! I think of Dusty ending as 'hopeful' after the time the two of them have had....trying to insert a typical HEA at the end of their story would have been disingenuous. Which is why I'm not that keen on the futuretake' I think it was written for all the wrong reasons. I was happy to leave it where it ends, its enough of a HEA for me...I don't need a wedding, I don't need rugrats (in fact, if E/B never have another kid for as long as they both shall fictionally live I'll be very happy) and white picket fences are bullsh!t NB. From FF Author Speklez via facebook "I really don't care how this makes me sound. When you have a downloaded copy of a pulled story, you SHOULD NOT share it with anyone without the author's permission. You SHOULD NOT post it on a site that makes it available to others without the author's permission. You SHOULD NOT do ANYTHING with it besides keep it for your own personal enjoyment WITHOUT THE AUTHOR'S NOT ALLOWED PERMISSION. We spend our free time writing these and if we decide to pull something WE wrote, it is NOT YOURS to do with what you want. It still belongs to the author and without the author's permission, you keep that shit to yourself."I guess there is no misunderstanding her feelings on the subject.
Blah blah blah. Over a decade ago, I was taught that once something is posted online it's on there forever and that you essentially lose control of it.
Demaris, I'd really like to see your top 10 book and fic list one of these days! You haven't lead me wrong yet.And I am curious what the heck Solange was mad about... wonder if we'll ever find out? I didn't see the video, but from what I read he didn't push her or anything, just stood there and took it. Wonder what Beyonce was doing while this was going down? (she was there, right?)
Agree with you daisbayo. Once you release it for free, kiss it goodbye. Some authors asked and the mods here removed the twific. However, the authors can't control other people's actions, more so if they have no copyright over their work. Why does an author change their mind and pull it?1. They want to make money out of it - duh, they should have thought about that first before giving it away 2. It was bought by a publisher - off the bat you should have disclosed it was already released. Well, the publisher seems to be a dick too if they insist the author to retrieve the work. After all the debate and what happened a few years ago, it shouldn't even be asked of the author. 3. They don't like it out there, it needs rework, it is like leaving a piece of themselves - see comment 1, moron4. They don't like the negative comments - if you can't hack it, then why expose yourself? Logically, you posted it bec you wanted to share it. But don't expect only positive feedback. Learn from the negatives. Remember, there are a lot of wackos out there, you won't be able to please everyone.Bottomline, if you were a good writer, people will buy your work. If you were good for just that one free work, then don't expect to earn a living out of it or make much money. You have to live with your actions so man up and stop whining for f*cking yourself by giving it away for free. My apologies to our writer friends here. I know you're not like those authors who pulled. But this is my opinion and i give it away for free. I can't take it back, it has been posted. End of rant
I know!!! You have to give props to Jay-Z for not retaliating. But if I were Beyonce (I'm still hoping that might be the case one day ) I would of smacked the bitch - sister or not. I think this has gotta be my fave Meme though:Oh Mrs Fassy I had a lovely night with your hubby Mikey (you said I couldn't call him Mike, so I didn't ) last night watching 12 Years... again. I was talking to my friend about it as she rented and watched it for the first time this week and she was complaining that he had no redeemable qualities in it and I have to dis-agree Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.I think I've gone all Fassy-fied again. I think I might of read the least sexiest thing when Bella's trying to lose her virginity to Edward: "Ugh, Edward. I want you to f*ck my p*ssy hard....fast and deep! I want to feel you in my lungs you pound me so hard!"
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login Loopy you do make me laugh. But I agree with you regarding Beyonce.....Uuunlesssss, my sister was slapping him down because he'd been playing away from home That is the only explanation I can think of why Beyonce didn't step up...as an aside; why is she sitting at a basketball game dressed as a secretary? I hope when you're Beyonce you'll learn the art of 'dressing down' How could you have had a lovely night with my hubby when I was having a hot and steamy night with him....Granted he was pink, about a foot tall and vibrating but still! You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login When watching 12 years I try to block out the actual film and just aim my tunnel vision on the Fassy, it's hard, bloody hell, almost impossible (and no Loopy, I don't think you can feel better by trying to find 'love' in his and Patsy's interactions, good try though Love! Damn good try ) but with a lot of practise you can achieve success...I have had a lot of practise "I want to feel you in my lungs...."? That is just, well, not sexy at all! Apparently one of the reason for the argument is that You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.but the other stuff I've read about Solange is that she's a bit of a hot mess anyway.Maybe Jay-Z and Jake wanted her to take down some notes about how the game went while they were having a laugh. I don't think dressing-down when I become Beyonce is gonna be a problem.
