Welcome!!  :welcome:

So, I have seen and read all of the movies and books loads of times. I saw the first one on DVD and enjoyed it. I heard that it was based on a book so I went and bought the book and read it. Then I bought all of the rest of the series to read them too. I went to see the last 3 movies in the theatre.

So, I have to say, that I have lost 16 pounds since March 27th and I have kept it off!!  :singing  I am so proud of myself I had to tell you all.

WOW, just read that post that Robin Williams was dead. What a tragedy. Rest in Peace Robin. Your humor and laughter will be very missed.

Congrats Tricklem! I have been trying to lose weight for a while. It's not easy. And it just seems to come back every time I do lose some.  So that is pretty good. ;)

Thank you. Well, I will tell you what I have learned. It is all about balance. It isn't about eliminating items from your eating, but eating them in moderation. I don't really view it as a diet because the changes that I have made are for life. Diets don't work because we usually gain the pounds back once we go back to the way we were eating.  I even started a blog about it and have charted my progress, things that have worked for me, tips to help others along the way and links to articles that I feel may be of benefit. Feel free to check it out. If you google tricklem it should come up on blogger.

I understand the problem of the movie messing everything up.  It's too bad they couldn't change some of the actors after the first movie did so well.

If you mostly understand another language, try watching the movies dubbed.  Twilight came on TV in German and I thought that for a certain character, the voice acting in German was much, much better.

I watched Twilight with my husband while listening to a commentary by a podcast group Overthinking it, so then I had to go back and watch it without the commentary.  And then I had to watch the others to find out what happened, and then I had to read all of the books to find out what happened because this was the summer before BD 1 came out.

I only saw BD 1 in theaters (in German) and that was cause the theater has mom/baby showings in the morning and a friend wanted to go with our babies, my daughter slept through the whole movie.

I hate the german voice for Rob. I don't mind the other voices though, they're not important to me.

I got grilled by sister-in-law to go to the movies with her when Eclipse were in the cinemas, but I refused. A colleague gave me the first Twilight book to read and I had it a few months. I felt guilty for keeping the book so long, because she was absolutely enthusiastic about it. So I read it in January '11 though I normally hate those hypes about books or movies. I still haven't read Harry Potter because everybody said I HAD to read it.
But Twilight hit me like the sun. I don't know why, because it sure isn't great writing, but I was totally gaga about it. I remember it like it was yesterday. We were skiing in Austria and I finished the book one evening and I couldn't understand what was happening to me. I thought of starting immediately at the beginning, but didn't. I ordered copies of New Moon and Eclipse instead on the same evening so that the books were at home when we returned from our vacation.

I bought Twilight not long after that on DVD and was utterly disappointed at first. The movie was weird to me and there were so many important scenes in the book which weren't in the movie at all! But Rob redeemed this for me. I didn't know anything about him before, only that he was this actor with the greasy hair and sloppy clothes. But he too hit me like the sun. Woah... I was star-strucked for the first time in my life and I felt like being in love again. Sounds crazy I know. Of course I bought New Moon and Eclipse and searched the internet for all things related to Rob. Found lots of wonderful blogs and somehow on those blogs I read about Wide Awake and found a copy on the net. I admit I read that one at work and was also totally mesmerized and fascinated. The Office followed and then I discovered ff.net. Edward Cullen, Dick For Hire was quite at the beginning. I found a German fanfiction blog and asked shyly about a copy of The Misapprehension of Bella Swan (it was already pulled back then). One of the blog owners sent it to me and we wrote e-mails for a long time. I dare to say we are friends now for 3 years and I have the great honor to do some stuff with her and the other blog owner every now and then for their ff blog and Rob blog.
But back to topic: I watched BD 1 and BD 2 in the cinema and loved the experience to see Rob on big screen. I went each time alone, because I couldn't stand the idea of somebody talk somehow badly about Twilight or Rob. I watched the first three movies at least ten times on DVD, but haven't watched them over the last year. But I plan to do a re-watch soon.
I have to say I like New Moon best though there's only so few Rob in it. But I think Chris Weitz did the best job of all directors.
I hate the CGI baby in BD 2 and I hate hate hate the wedding!!!! I prefered the bloody wedding dream over the "real" ceremony. SAF totally ruined it for me.

Congrats Tricklem! That's great!
I began to lose weight over the last few weeks as well. I got a shocking diagnosis 4 weeks ago and I'm now trying to change my eating behavior. As a result of this I'm losing weight. I haven't weighed myself in a lot of years though so I can't say it in pounds. But my pants are a lot more comfortable now and I feel a lot better and fitter. Not so sleepy anymore.
I'm trying to avoid animal protein and bad carbs. Means: no bread, no pasta, no rice, no sugar, no sausage, no cheese, no meat (at least no "red" meat), less coffee, no alcohol and so on. I eat fruits or uncooked vegetarien food from morning to evening and only cook on evenings for my husband and me, but try to replace meat for me with vegetables or potatoes or I go with salad.
It's very easy for me at the moment, because our vegetable garden is big and we have lots of fruits too. We'll keep a lot of vegetables for winter too and my goal is to quit eating meat by winter. I'm not too strict though, so if there are exceptions, I don't fret about it.
Like Tricklem said, I think it's about the balance. I "sinned" this weekend and enjoyed a ice cream bowl, but I'm back on track now and the desire dwindle down with each day. I enjoy the hell out of our raspberries at the moment. Or our tomatoes. So I don't feel like I have to deny myself something.

I was late getting into the Twilight phenom. I saw the movie first and I liked it. I've watched it quite a few times. Can't even remember how I got hooked on the books but I remember that I could not stop reading. I was on vacay and bought the first two ....could not put them down. Luckily, all the books were out so I got them and finished them all. I heard about SM's drama with the book she was writing, and went searching for it. I bumped into PTS and the rest is history.
Twilight I saw on cable, the others in the movie theatre. I was/am hooked on E Cullen/Rob. Same person?

So sorry to hear about Robin. I absolutely love his brand of crazy. Although, my favorite movie that features him is Good Will Hunting a straight role. One of my all time fave. Movie.
He will be missed.

Welcome to new members to our book club.

I saw all the movies at their midnight release because I have teenage daughters.  My oldest begged me to take her to the first movie (she had read the book).  After she kept telling me how the book was so much better, I read the book to find out and the rest is history.

I actually saw all the movies, in a Twilight marathon, the day BD2 was released, they had trivia contests and prizes - my daughters loved it.  We spent a lot of time after discussing what we would have done differently - script, casting, hair - they got so much wrong, but we still all watched.

That's great that you are loosing weight and feeling better. For me, I don't avoid bad carbs, red meat, or sugar, I just have them in controlled moderation. I also try to give myself 1 day to cheat a month and eat the stuff that I like that I don't eat that often. If I have a cheat day, I try to make up for it by working extra when I hit the gym. Maybe not for everyone, but it is working for me.

This what I've done as well.  For me banning foods just makes them all the more tempting.

I agree with you Tricklem, refined carbs aren't 'bad' per se but they are 'empty' calories, as in they don't bring any nutrients.  I'm all for moderation and lots of exercise. If I want a slice of cake then the next day I work out a bit more; my mantra is ' I put it in, I sweat it out'  :P  Apparently Kate Moss once said 'nothing tastes a good as skinny looks" now I'm not sure if that a true quote but I do find if I'm hankering for something I think to myself. 'Is it worth that extra half hour'

On another note: Does anyone know if Kira Barker (dariachenowith) new book is a P2P and if so of which of her stories?  Apologies if this has been discussed already, I'm having a blonde moment.

NB Scratch that OAN I just read Kira Barker's book summary and it is clearly Heartbreak Remedy  :D :D God! I may as well just go ahead an dye my hair!!!

Absolutely. Abstinence doesn't really work for me either. I have tried to ban certain foods but always ended up "falling off the wagon" and it was worse than if I would have just had that small treat.

Very good way of thinking about it. If I splurge, I try to balance it out elsewhere and put in more time at the gym. I also have a heart rate monitor that tells me how many calories I have burned, so I can make sure that I have worked the extra off.

Just visited my local grocery store and read this gem

Do to electrical issues we are closed. Sorry for the inconviance. ....priceless

Wow, that hurt my brain...and it's  sad considering you live in the US and english is the primary language  :P

Another reason to be sad is the demise of Robin Williams. Such a waste of great talent! I hope he has finally found peace and eternal happiness.

On the twilight books and movies: read all books once. Watched all the films for the first time at the theater. Except for new moon, since rob was hardly there, have seen them more than 3 times (HBO or DVD). Twilight i've rewatched the most, maybe 10 times?   8)  It gets shown a lot in cable and i of course can't resist rewatching it when i happen to come across it airing on tv. Am a movie buff but i don't overanalyze the things i watch and just go with how the movie made me feel. Enjoyed all of them despite some actors/actresses shortcomings. Am not so hard to please  :)

Last movie i watched was Guardians of the Galaxy and i totally rec that one if you're into scifi action comedies

Hey Booked
I'm sure initially your questionnaire asked the married or single question didn't it? That's how I know which of you ladies are Smugs (joke!  :-*) :D

So I'm slowly making my way through this year's TV (my WIPhobia extends to TV series, I don't watch anything until the season is complete)  and having finished The Good Wife I'm now on GOT. God! I love this show, and still, having read all the books (published so far; damn you George R R Martin!! :021:)  the end of an episode always leave me with a sad lump in my throat (knowing what coming) it was worse at the end of the first two seasons but it still not gotten any easier.  :(

BTW I'm not that keen on that Claire Beauchamp (Outlander)...is it me or is she a bit of a selfish b!tch?
