Thread #6 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Still thinking about Astro and her Dad and sending good vibes their way.  :)I preferred TaraSueMe's trilogy to E.L. James' as in my opinion it was better written than MoTU/FsoG but it's one of those fics/books that if you're not clicking with it, you're just not going to click with it.  ;D

Okay peeps, I need your help, I'm in quarantine/under house arrest - meaning I've got the house completely to myself as I've got Ringworm - anyhoo, I'm in a re-read rut and was just wondering if anyone's read anything really good lately they rec.  :-* :-*

I'd be grateful of any suggestions too.  I haven't read any fic in ages.

I've been reading plenty of books but am struggling to find anything to hold my interest at the moment.

Hi y'all. Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post, but I've downloaded CWIA in PDF and when I converted it to MOBI, it was only recognised as image so the pages are all blank.  :'(

I was hoping to have a copy in ePub or MOBI if anyone has... Cheers!

Katinki's story Fic on the Fly has been marked complete, I am off to read.

Fic on the Fly
COMPLETE. Edward, let me introduce you to Bella, a not so starry-eyed college student who really doesn't want anything to do with you. Except for maybe to stab you. Starts out kinda canon, then takes a sharp left at a library in Seattle. Some Romance plus some Drama plus some Comedy equals a "Romantic Dramedy". Or something like that. Either way... fun. EPOV. Kimkimkim, regarding Tara Sue Me, there was a bit of a dustup regarding The Submissive.  I remember reading on Find A Fic on Twilighted and somewhere else that I can't remember that Tara Sue Me accused E.L James when writing Master of the Universe of plaigerising from Tara.   Both fics had been pulled to publish by the time I read it.
I did notice similarities in the two fics...    Made me wonder if one of them was a bit of a copy cat.    50SoG was the first "mature" romance that I ever read and it's what lead me to fanfic so I guess when I was reading The Submissive I was comparing it to 50SoG.

I've read the first and the first part of the Dominant... I wasn't that impressed. The Submissive was allright, but if this again is seen as a reflection of a real BDSM relationship... no way!
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Did you read The Dominant before you read The Submissive?   I just finished the Submissive and I really felt like I was missing a big chunk of the story so I'm wondering if The Dominant fills in those spots.    It's like they had this huge connection from the beginning but I never really got why they had the connection.   They explained a little of it towards the end, but it just didn't really make sense to me.

Loopy which one did you read first TSM's or 50Sog?   I wonder if that makes a difference on which one we think is better.   I thought 50 was quite a bit better...   just way more story development and meat to the story.  (LOL, meat!)   Like I said though, this was sort of my introduction to adult romance so maybe that's why 50 seemed better to me?

I hate to hear that you are under quarantine!  I'm thinking you've probably read all the fics I've read...    Did you read Last Tango, Sexy Silk, Comp Sem 101, Resident Geek, Trancendense, Deviant, The List by LauraCullen or Trippin Slippin Tumblestumblin?

Another story being pulled to publish - thought everyone would like to know in case they want to download before it is pulled.  :) :'(

Nise7465 posted this to her profile (and A/N of last chapter of Impact You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)

Hello Everyone,

Many of you know that my mother was my roll model for Impact’s Bella.

She lived in our home and relied on my family for around the clock care. Updates and interactions with each of you ebbed and flowed based on the attention she required. In May of last year her health began to decline and she spent a much of her time in and out of the hospital in the following months.

Eight weeks ago her sixty year battle with MS came to an end. I miss her sweet smile and compassionate heart. She was a stellar example of living life to its fullest, despite having limitations resulting from a physical disability. Caring for her was a blessing that I’ll never regret.

Since life has finally settled down, I’ve had some time to go back and read each one of your reviews. So many came in while Mom was ill, my sincere apologies for not having time to read or respond.

I'd like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has supported Impact throughout the rewarding journey that began nearly five years ago. You've been so much more than readers and have become so much more than friends.

Impact was a special project for my mother and me. Your, sometimes very personal, accounts about how the story inspired you meant the world to her and we talked a number of times about working to bring the story to a more diverse group of readers outside the Twilight fandom. In order for the promise I made to become a reality, I need to edit Impact and make the appropriate changes so I can offer it to my readers as a work of original fiction.

Impact will remain on this site, in its entirety, until June 1, 2014, but then it will be taken down. Outtakes will continue to post as time permits. I appreciate your understanding and your patience.

The decision to remove Impact from the site where it's been available since 2010 is a bittersweet one, but it was your words of encouragement that have allowed me to believe Impact could be something more.

I know the writing was not the best but LOVED 50SoG  I like it much better than tarasueme's trilogy. I loved the characters, the story, it made me feel . Lots of romance/swoon factors that floated my boat.

Like you, it's what brought me to fanfiction.  :)

Am eagerly awaiting the movie!  >:D

Can't recommend much fanfics as am sure you've read more of them than me. However, i am currently down to the last book of the trilogy That Man by Nelle L'amour. It's an ok and fun read. Book 2 was better than book 1.

Anyway, there was a focus group in the story and the ladies mentioned so many hot characters in romance novels so i quickly got them to read after i finish That Man 3:
“Alexandre Chevalier. One word. Sex on a friggin’ stick.”

I prefer TSM's trilogy as I got so fed up of Bella/Ana talking about her frigging inner Goddess.  ::) ::)
But I read 50SoG first, so that kinda got me more into BDSM fics.
I've read all of those but they are great fics, they are all in my top 20.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I thought the This Man trilogy was garbage.  Jesse wasn't sexy and dominant.  He was lying, manipulative and abusive.  The heroine was a total doormat.  I thought she and her friends should call the police when Jesse came around. The SPaG errors in the books were frequent and distracting.  I can't believe the buzz and accolades these books have received.  Every time complimentary remarks are made about this series it pisses me off all over again.
