I never been to a Russian wedding, but I saw pictures from my parents. The maid of honor/best man equivalent holds a crown on top of the bride and groom for a little while during the service. And they also walk around the altar.
My mom said its a beautiful ceremony.

The biggest problem for me with the church, without going into the religious aspect, is that until recently the mass was in Russian. So I couldn't understand anything. Also it is veryyyyyy long. It can last up to 3 hours. And you can't have breakfast to be able to commune (? I googled it, not sure if it is the right term).

As a child I would be bored out of my mind. Later on I started questioning the church etc etc.

Also to be allowed to be a Russian orthodox priest you must be married. Back in the day they didn't have therapists so people looked for advice with their local priest. But how could a priest connect with his flock(?) if he couldn't relate to their daily problems?
Not to mention there aren't many cases on pedophiles in the church. Or gay priests.

So you are Russian then?

I was too busy cleaning my drool. Then I lost momentum.

From now on, always have your camera at the ready!

You should all know by now that I live vicariously through you all!

Now that SNB had discovered sun safety, the only males I see are under the age of 13, or their fathers, and while the DILF thing might sound like a nice fantasy, when you teach their children all day, it's the last thing on my mind when they come to pick the kids up after school.

That, and not one of the fathers in my school is even remotely attractive! I read all these lovely fics that have a divorced, widowed or single father Edward turning up at school - when will it be my turn!!! :pulling

Oh no! Definitely NOT comfortable! I read the reviews first, as you suggested, so kinda knew what was coming and then skimmed.

That has to be one of the more disturbing fics I've read - and don't forget I read the fic with a masturbating Charlie in a pink tutu!  :o

My grandparents are Russian. From my dads side of the family. And my mother converted when she married my dad as she wasn't very religious back then. And my grandma was.

My moms mom, that sounds weird, is catholic. But she only started going to church with old age.

Mhhh, I was raised catholic, but then my mom had a change of heart and we eventually became Christians. So do you live in Brazil?

I'm so sorry to hear what you have been going through, and hope that things will continue to turn around for you, especially now that you are officially an adult  ;)

Enjoy your trip to Florence and then your holiday in May, and we'll all be here whenever you get some time to check in.

Yay! Hello! I'm sorry you haven't been around so much and about your friend; losing someone close is never easy. I know how you feel with Uni, it's killing me this year too, but at least you have a new and purple flat! My brother's favourite colour is purple, bless him.

You'll also have an awesome time in Florence. I love Florence. We had the most amazing time there, and it's so beautiful! They also have great food and that wicked bridge with all the jewellers that used to be butchers!

You should just celebrate your 21st a month late, you can't not celebrate your 21st! I had my party a couple of months after my real birthday, which funnily enough is this month! So I'm sure to have a great April!  :)

Also your tattoo sounds cool. I don't have any but I've been thinking about getting one, a little elephant, not sure where yet...maybe on the back of my neck, right up in my hairline.

Just a little reminder that in Greece (and Europe in general, if I'm not terribly mistaken) you are officially an adult once you've turned 18. That was a CRAZY party that lasted an entire weekend. It left me with a huge hand-over and completelly broke for the rest of the month :P So 21 isn't suck a big deal. At least there was cake ;)

The Florence trip is going to last just for 4 days, but with some luck I will be able to save money and have a great summer.

As about tattoos I already have a little cat under my other ear. I hurts like hell (not gonna lie, I'm so afraid of niddles and pain :P) but I can easily hide it with my hair.

And Bella watches him through the window!

I've mentioned this before - it really left me traumatised! The first chapter was a well written o/s - I can't remember the storyline. The second chapter - it was almost as though the author had gotten high and then posted! Or perhaps someone hacked her ff.net account.

Yep. My grandparents couldn't go back to Russia, because my grandad had been captured during the war. And Stalin said that whoever had been captured would spend another 10 years doing forced labor in Siberia. My great grandfather was doctor and wrote books on biology, so the German government forced him to work for them trying to make biological weapons.

So they could go to Australia or brazil, the only countries that accepted old people. USA and Canada my great grandparents couldn't join my grandparents. My grandparents got married in Germany. They met there.

18 is adulthood in Australia too - I have a vague memory of being told that the age was lowered from 21 during the WW1 because they needed more men to go to war (even though there were also boys as young as 13 and 14 puttin up their ages so they wouldn't miss out on the "fun").

I just wish that 18 year olds year - and 21 year olds too - actually acted like adults in Australia! They have too much money and not enough responsibility.

Florence is beautiful. I would love to go back some day - even if it was for only 4 days. The downside of living in Australia is that you can't travel to another country for just 4 days.

It was probably the first one; the author needed a little help getting inspired... but instead it went terribly wrong!!! :D :D

Ok, I will stop now... I'm judging people I don't know... even if they write sick pervy things !!!

My grandmother is a mess.

My mum has just started trying to trace back her family on ancestry.com

She rang me a few weeks ago, so excited because she thought that she had discovered that her grandparents had their first (of 24!) children out of wedlock!

She was most upset the next day when she came across their marriage licence and they had been married for almost a year when he was born.  :D

Australian history seems so boring compared to the rest of the world - no wars, no uprisings or revolutions. Just a few boatloads of convicts from the UK, and then we welcomed every other nationality with open arms.

Sort of - I might be sugar coating that just a tad!

Our Aboriginal history is fascinating though - and one of the oldest in the world, therefore it is not well documented.
