Word of warning...  DO NOT read Once Upon a Saturday right before bed.   I rarely cry when I read...  very rarely!  I think maybe only twice (Time Traveler's Wife and Hopeless)  Well, this short followup to FaN really did me in!  It pulled at all my mom heartstrings!    I am glad that you guys had given me a little bit of a heads up on the outcome!

I think Fridays at Noon (&Once Upon a Saturday) was the best fic I've read so far.   Definitely much better than 75% of the real books I've been reading lately.

Now i need to try to figure out what to read next.   Here are the ones on my "read soon" list...   Anyone have an opinion on which is the best?  :sign0085:

The Darkest Hour
Words with Friends
I Love Mr. North
It Happened One Night
Deviant
The Wedding Party
The Tutor

If you need something light after FaN, then read Words with Friends/Words with Strangers or I Love Mr. North.  However, I highly recommend The Wedding Party by spanglemaker9 when you're in the mood for more drama.  I love that story.

I might be mistaken but from the description, it sounds like the third book goes further than the end of the fanfic.
Yep, I think the first two books cover UoEM then the 3rd book is going to be all new material.   Can't wait!

Ohhh. It's not the most popular of opinions, but I actually never finished the fic version (University of Edward Masen). I thought E seemed like an ass, plus the whole thing was a bit self-indulgent and pompous. Lots of people love it though, so I might try the book versions.
I couldn't read it either.  I thought it was the 3rd person style of writing, but the Edward just didn't grab me.  I don't think I made it past the second chapter.

And it could be that I don't have it in mobi or epub.  PDF's are so annoying to me, that if the story doesn't make me want to read it, I give up quickly.  Converting most have not been successful.   :NeenerNeener:

Okay, so I was downloading by author and realized this was causing problems because I have my fanfic in two separate Calibre libraries - in-progress and completed.  So if I had already downloaded a completed story, and I was doing the author download in the in-progress library, I would have duplicates.

So Create a new library "By Author" and download, then "Add" them to the completed/in-progress libraries.  If there are copies, it will ask if you want to still copy them

The only problem I found is that it did not update the metadata.  So I had to re-obtain it.  It was fairly quick.  If anyone can come up with a better way, I am all ears.  Deleting/Merging duplicates is a pain.

You guys are such wizards! I just used calibre to convert files. But since I have ibooks and kindle apps now, i don't need to convert anymore. Am too afraid to use Calibre to download stuff from FFN. My fanfics are sorted accdg to year i downloaded it. clearly, I wasn't in my right mind when I first downloaded/synced stuff from my ipad.  ;D I don't think my OCD can handle duplicate files in my PC. as it is, i turn a blind eye that some have authors name first and some are just titles. You can imagine what a b*tch it is to search alpabetically in my PC. One of these days I will eventually try to fix the titles so they will be "orderly". Just don't ask what year I will finish it  ;D

Last Sunday, I started my project of putting the summaries to my "done" list. Am about half way through and didn't realize how many i've read that I can't even remember the story. This is why i am so amazed at the girls at the 152 thread who are able to give the title when someone gives an excerpt or scene from the story. I can only do that for my faves. For the rest, I would be stumped! So to ficfangirl, ellachanted, tjputvin, chippy73, jkyll12, 2loveybunnies et al  :You_Rock_Emoticon:

LOL! Not me! I'm just like you.  This is why I'm using Calibre to organize with the summaries.  I only started using it when it started to have all the additional information.

I can barely remember the last story I read. And right now I have parts of 2 stories in my head and I can't remember what they go with.  But I will look a bit further before posting a request  ;D

Calibre - downloading communities
Okay, you can download communities by page.

Go the the Community  - i.e. Katmom's Favorites  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Don't forget to change the ratings to All.

Copy the URL at the top and do the same as downloading authors.  There are 25 stories to a page, It will pick up all of them.

There are some good Communities such as

I didn't read too much either, and I tried so hard to like it.  :(

But if the book series are better I might give it a try too.

Yes, I've wanted to tell you about that, too...
Doesn't only work with communities, but also with the regular browsing/searching-17615 pages on ff.net. So, look for a pairing for example, you an download ever story for it...  ;)
Also with authors pages on twcs AND the series there, like You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
(Those are not limited by 25 per page). How you can change ffdownloader for downloading from twcs so it doesn't ask you if you asre an adult for every story is explained here somewhere...

I was wondering about the search.  So when I pull new completed stuff that's going to be easy now.  ;D

I did try it on TWCS but the writer had only 10 stories.

This could be dangerous LOL!!!!   ;D

In calibre ffdownloader, you can go to "Configure plugin" and there the personal.ini. You can enter your username for several sites and the password in that file. For TWCS, you can also add that you're an adult. I've posted an example of what works for me You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.

What is a clean house?  Sigh.   :P

A clean house is what happens twice a year - when I should be doing report cards. . . which is in just a couple of weeks!  :(

Thanks to my new Voice Dream app, I have less than 200 pages of Bring On The Wonder left!

I'm glad I persevered with this mammoth fic - although it is slow moving, the pace allows for character development, so nothing seems overly far-fetched. Bella is a prostitute and Edward is studying with the intention of becoming a Catholic priest. Their relationship develops gradually, although there is the usual "spark" of more than just a friendship.

SPaG is pretty good, especially as the author is Dutch. There is abuse and assault in this fic, and in some places it was quite challenging to read. There is also quite a bit of criticism of religion, and references to abuse within the Catholic Church, which is actually very timely here in Australia at the moment: You are not allowed to view links. And what do you know?  :o When I went to ff.net to get the link, I noticed it had updated just yesterday! It is a note to say there is a future-take posted.

I know a few of you abandoned ship with this one, but I'd love to know if anyone else has read it.

Ohhhhhhhhh My very favorite book of the entire year was The Fault in Our Stars. made me want to never ever write again because I felt like it was so friggin' perfect, there was nothing left to write. And then I read The Sea of Tranquility and it made me WANT to write again. Books are amazing in that way.
