More "salutes":

Oh, to be that fly!
The first (with the wrinkled nose) shows that he is new to our shores. The second shows that he's adorable!

See SavyB - our insects aren't really that big a problem. You just wave them away.

I have finally finished this fic.

I really enjoyed it.  It was well written and the plot was good.

I took a long time to read though!

I am in pain today - I think I overdid 30DS yesterday - my back and neck are killing me - which makes it easier to ignore the fact my thighs are throbbing!

ETD: Bugger! I think I posted after you went to bed! I really hope you see this before you hit the shops!

Alright - this post is going to give you an insight into my OCD. I also think I might have a little bit of a drink-based obsession, but it is overruled by my Domestic Goddess-itis.

First, you always have to have limes in your freezer!

Limes are ridiculously expensive here! I have a lime tree, and when they are all in season and ready for picking, I pick them, wash them and throw them in the freezer - no segmenting or juicing, just through them in whole. Then, when you need lime juice, just take on out and stick it in the microwave for about 40-60 seconds until it's defrosted and a little bit warm - you won't believe how much more juice you get out when you zap them in the microwave. If you don't have a lime tree, buy heaps when they are in season and freeze them.

Cointreau
Unless you're drinking it straight or over ice, don't ever buy Cointreau to mix in cocktails. Buy Triple Sec - here in Australia, it's a third of the price of Cointreau and in a cocktail you can't tell the difference - but you must always have a bottle in your stash!

Apart from Pimm's, Long Island Iced Tea is my go-to drink when I have people over. I make up a big jug and we sit outside and eat nuts and drink Long Island Iced Teas...(and I pray that SNB will come out to mow). When you can no longer say "Long Island Iced Tea", it's time for dinner!

Big D - with what's in your stash, you might be able to give a Long Island Iced Tea a go. I'm intrigued that you didn't have the ingredients for a mango daiquiri because those ingredients are almost staples in my pantry - the sugar is usually the hardest thing for me to find! If you haven't used your mango yet, just freeze it before it goes off. You can freeze it whole or skin it, dice it and stick it in a ziplock bag. We had mango trees in our backyard when I was a kid and we'd always get a glut of mangoes. Once they're frozen, they're a bit too sloppy to eat, but great for cooking and drinking.

I live in a hot climate, so most of my drinks are icy. When I spent winter in Europe, I discovered glühwein , or mulled wine, or vin chaud, or vin brulé, or svařák. Yes, I became multi-lingual because I drank my way through Europe! At home when I'm entertaining in winter, I make it in my slow cooker. When it's all gone, everyone is multi-lingual!

Bailey's can be consumed in any climate, especially when it's homemade (but I now have to limit my Bailey's intake  :'( because my tummy doesn't like the cream/egg/choc combo)

I've attached a few others of my faves, and recipes for homemade Bailey's and Kahlua. Don't judge me!

Luckily I always log onto my computer before leaving the house to check for news updates etc...Thanks Astro. Honestly I don't drink alcohol at home that much (apart from wine), hence my lack of alcoholic beverages or food ( I hardly ever cook!) I'm out for work most evenings and I have it lodged into the back of my mind, somewhere, that drinking at home on your own = Sue Ellen Ewing. And icy drinks here in minus degrees weather? No, not that much call for daiquiris...now wine, I have by the cellar full.

I have to laugh; a mango tree in your backyard?! Jesus! Here, you're lucky if you can get a mango that's sweet and they are so expensive!

ROFLMAO! I love it.  Jacob eats porpoises? And wants his back shaved?  Yeah, so good.  But I do love the first one - "You spit at me!" Sigh, he is so cute.  But he does need a tan.... but SAF? Yeah, trying to figure out how tto watch this without her.

Actually, I feel a little bad about calling her SAF, because women shouldn't make fun of other women's looks.  Now calling her SAA? Yeah, that's okay (Shit-*ss attitude) Because if you want to be an actress? Yeah, you want attention. So don't complain about it when it happens.

Ella, trust me when I say I am 100% behind you in regards to this topic of women's lack of solidarity with each other, I'm about to change jobs so that I can tackle this subject in a much more hands on way. I'm not talking about her looks, I'm talking about her expressions (the whole mouth open catching flies drives me nuts!) and lack of acting ability (nothings riles me up as much as false advertising), I think I started off saying she looked as if she was sucking on a lemon and graduated to SAF, but point taken; by putting 'face' in the equation one could get the wrong idea of what we're evaluating..

I agree - women are their own worst enemies when it comes to putting each other down based on appearance.

When I call her SAF, I am not talking about her looks - it's her expression...or rather, lack of expression, as well as her attitude that I really don't like. I really hate all of the photos of her giving the finger to the paps. If you can't be gracious, ignore them completely, but don't do that - especially when you're on a speedboat, on Sydney Harbour, on a promotional tour!
I totally agree with you. Okay, it's back to SAF for her  ;D

My dad likes to comment on female newscasters looks and expressions. Yet he barely pays attention to the men. So when I hear myself thinking "why is her face always in that same stupid expression?" Well, I don't want to be that person who worries about someone's looks. Even if they are supposed to be acting  ;)

Um, unless they are hawt like RPattz  :D :D

He is so happy because he is away from SAF.

And im sorry Ella, but I'm totally against having to stick together just because we are women.
I'm all for sticking up for the underdog for example.
But I bad mouth both genders equally.
LOL! Part of it is me - she has a chipmunky face and her lack of expression doesn't help.  *hides face* See, that's what I've been trying not to say.  ;)

And, I don't think we should stick up for the attitude, just the lack of looks.  Because there are a heck of a lot of better looking actresses out there who can act and have good attitudes. She is not that good looking or good of an actress to rate having the attitude she has.  Okay. *steps off soap box*

OK I'm going to jump on that soap box just for a moment...A bad attitude, a lack of talent, an annoying personality are all up for criticism, regardless of sex especially if you're in a profession where basically 'you' are the commodity ...but women are their own worst critics ( men do not stand in judgement over each other the way we do), how fat someone is, how unattractive, that if a woman wears a short skirt, she's a slut or lacks class (I've read that on here) as though fabric dictates our moral fibre...which in turn give credence to defence lawyers telling a rape victim that what she wore one night/day is directly related to why she's on that witness stand....Women do need to be more supportive of each other simply because we're women, there is a case to be argued for positive discrimination down chromosome lines. Because as it stands we have enough stacked against us, in our workplace, our health care, our education, and then let's talk about the hordes of mainstream media giving us a helping hand to hate ourself and each other; you have to be tall, you have to be skinny, you have to be above average attractive, (and in some areas of the world you have to be white), otherwise you're worthless and of this I have first hand experience; I can't tell you the amount of times someone didn't get the press coverage they deserve because they didn't match that criteria, and the funny thing is? 80% of staff employed in women lifestyle publications are, you guessed it, women. Phuck. That. Shit! Anything I can do to make a fellow XXer feel better/worthy/supported I will, and yeah it will be 'simply because she's a woman'. As my mother would say. 'Those who feels it, knows it' if not me, who?

I agree with you totally.  It has always bothered me that women are given preferential treatment based on their looks, no matter how crappy their attitude and others are looked down upon because of how they look or dress.  Personality should be what is important, not what they wear or how they look.  And we are our own worst enemies.

And though I go all crazy over RPattz? It wasn't his looks that attracted me to him, but his sense of humor.

Sorry, watching Breaking Dawn Part I on TV.  I watched it once when I first got the DVD & I'm realizing a missed a lot.  Hmm... were they talking about remaking this? Because I really wouldn't mind if they did.  Boy there is a lot of dialogue that doesn't match the books.

So, you know the saying, opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one...I'm gonna add my two cents.

D, you are correct we are our biggest haters. Deep down , do you think that stems from jealousy? A life too ordinary, too boring  less lived, less  significant? Why are we so quick to pass judgement. This is just a general statement on society and not KS.
KS, is a bonding moment for most of us because I think we are in agreement about her acting, looks and general persona (or lack therof). She def. needs a total makeover. She is young....yes, maybe that's it?!!?

Solidarity, yes, but truth first and foremost, don't y'all think?

Somebody rec me something good, E&B hea, lemons and a plot please.  :-*

You're right I should have prefaced my post with IN MY OPINION

'Truth first and foremost' absolutely, I'm not saying lets all stick our head in the sand and pretend that certain women don't have certain issues; shite, we all have issues! I'm just saying let's cut ourself some slack and be prepares to see the good in a woman before jumping to gleefully highlight all the bad. I'm not really thinking of KS or any celebrity really, as I think their lives comes with label which say '*warning* expect judgement, criticism and no privacy' once you signed on the dotted line, don't start wailing and gnashing your teeth later when you don't like it.

But to answer your other point regarding "jealousy? A life too ordinary, too boring  less lived, less  significant? IMO  there is truth in what you've said, though I think that, again, it goes back to the media we are surrounded by and consume. If you are constantly being bombarded with unattainable ideals and being made to believe that they are attainable and the fact that you can't attain them is because you are too lazy or too stupid or too 'other', well, nothing good can come from that.....Every  beauty advertising/ company makes money by making you feel like shit...How can I possibly like myself? And taking the point further, how can I like another woman, who I have been taught to always view as 'the competition'?

Again, just my opinion, but this is a topic close to my heart so...feel free to remove me from you buddy list  :D
