Well Ladies, I'm back and have 20+ pages to read. If I'm being honest I thought there might be more! But you have been surprisingly tame this week it seems.

Riding was good, I didn't die from heat stroke despite the icky hot temps, we only saw 2 snakes and there were no bushfires (at least not around us)! Plus we had the river to keep our temperatures down, so it was all good. We are lucky that up in the high country even though the temps soar during the day it cools down a lot at night, so we all sleep out in Swags and actually stay cool, the only downside is the Kookaburras wake you up at 5am...

Even survived the family down at the beach house with not a single drop of alcohol. Although I did eat my bodyweight in Dooly's Ice Cream, that is seriously the only ice cream I ever eat. Pity it's all the way in Apollo Bay...I guess it saves my waistline.

It's going to be blisteringly hot here tomorrow and I have to spend the day moving the horses to the fire-safe paddocks and moving all the tack out of the sheds in case they go up, the heat is kind of becoming ridiculous. It's only January! It's not supposed to be this hot yet!

Astro, if you love PB cups so much you need to get yourself a Costco! I don't like the cups, but I do love the pieces, I put them in brownies. Every time we go to Costco I buy a huge 1.36kg bag of them for $12, it lasts me a while I can tell you!

No real news on the fic front other than after giving a fair few the flick I just read an old one again...Ha. I'm getting lazy. Did come across a fair few SPaG errors that gave me my daily dose of laughter though. One I'm seeing crop up more and more is the use of 'allowed' when the author clearly means 'aloud' "He talked allowed to us"  :D :D :D

Here's a rec or two

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  I liked this one, quick read and fairly well written. My only complaint would have be the way the author handled the angst, could have been developed a bit more.

I liked You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login again another quick read no true angst but a nice story overall.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  I thought this Edward was rather original. The story is a bit longer at 50chps it's a bit slow but I liked the characters and even chuckled a few times.

Hope this helps

Great minds, Booked!  I was just thinking this morning that I need a rating system!

I have a spreadsheet where I list author and title of all the fics as I finish them. I'm thinking I'll had a column for a rating and another for a summary.

OCD much?

I have a column added to my calibre library where I check the fic off after I read it (thanks to Ella for this idea :) )

I'm the World Champion of Procratination but if it's something I want to do, my OCD rules supreme.

Can't wait to get home tomorrow, d/l (flagfic) everything that's completed in the last 3 weeks, update anything that's updated (move them into my Jan 2013 bookmark folder), then set up my new columns.

So excited!!!

Hmmmm - perhaps this is why I'm single...

I get totally excited about this kind of stuff as well.

I'm a self proclaimed nerd and I love it  ^-^

LOL I'm the same way. Edward belongs with Bella, dangit, but I can read Bella/other people all day long.

I can kinda deal with Edward with someone else so long as Bella is happy in her new relationship, and it wasn't someone he was cheating with while he was supposed to be with Bella.  I do feel they stick him with Alice entirely too much though.

 :iagree:

As long as it's a fic where Bella is paired with someone else, Idc who Edward is with.

But I can't read a fic where it's centered around Edward/someone else. I'll whore Bella out to pretty much anyone lol

I had two new story alerts in my inbox today. One Edward/Gianna and one Edward/Jessica. WTH?

And why is it that I love reading Bella/someone else than Edward stories but the thought of Edward with anyone else makes me nauseous????? Such a hypocrite I am...

I once read a Edward/Leah fic, (where Bella was his cat :P) . It was a very sweet story with a quite troubled Edward. I can't remeber the title though :(

Currently half way through reading Devils Angel by ObsessingOverEdward and I can't seem to reallly get into it. I'll read it for a bit but happily put it down to take care of RL and bouncing back here (like what I'm doing now). Has anyone else read it? I mean I will finish it cause that's what I do but I just want to know your thoughts.   ^-^

LOL! You said you hate it when they fall in love/have sex in the first 20 pages ;)

This one they meet, feel the pull, & have sex right away, which leads to love....it's fated.  Then the story is dealing with the aftermath...it was a decent story that kept me interested. Lately, that's been an issue.

:o Ok i have not done this in a very long time, but i am so tired.  I stayed up most of the night reading a story that i just could not put down because i had to finish it.   Has anyone read  ~ War of the Roses ~ ?

I absolutely loved this book. I am not really a big fan of cheating stories but this one was the exception.  I wanted to smack edward and bella and then i would turn around and want to hug them.  Crazy i know.   There were a few "Tissue Warnings" but nothing crazy.

If you had not read this book yet give it a try...

I have "read" tags in calibre, but I tend to forget to mark them as read. Last night I actually downloaded an app on my tablet to make notes in, just so I can write down the names of stuff as I finish them.

Well, it really depends on the author. I don't mind the right-away sex, but I HATE the right-away iloveyous... :P

Some authors feel the necessity to rush things. After that the plot usually builds and builds and builds. Stories like that can get sooo tiring. There are countless poor written stories out there just like that.

Imagine MOTU (easy example, almost everyone has read that or Fifty Shades), only Bella and Edward say "I love you so much" constantly after page 15 :P

Does anyone understand what I'm talking about? I am not really good with words but I will try to think of a story as an example.

Now I have an image of your poor husband rolling over at night thinking he might get lucky.. only to see you eating M&Ms! :D :D
Peanut butter is my favourite thing, I constantly have a 'using' jar and a back-up jar in the cupboard just in case. My favourite way is peanut butter on toast with mashed banana on top. It's incredible. Oh and I had this really good peanut butter milkshake once that I've since tried to recreate, but it's just not the same :(
Lol, many a time the hubby's thought his lucks in and then been like "For goodness sake Babe take the M&Ms into another room!"  :D

Can't believe that after not coming on her for 2 days (stuck in hospital with a kidney infection and cr*ppy wi-fi  :( ) - there was 21 pages to read through.  :o

Finished reading LAMTAF - loved it. Will probably read the sequel when if/when it's finished.

Hope you're feeling better!  I hate hospitals

I've read Cliche.  This is the one the author called this E "JakeRyanward" after Jake Ryan from the movie Sixteen Candles.  Not a new storyline or plot, but I was entertained by this high school fic.  Very much had the John Hughes 80s movie feel to it.

I agree with you in a way. I do like the "connection" thing with Bella & Edward, which sometimes ends up as love at first sight.  For me, it's more a wishing it could happen thing.  I haven't been "in love" at first sight since I was 15.  Unfortunately, he didn't feel the same. Though he was a nice guy. And maybe the spiked punch/cousin's wedding helped ;)
So it's a reminder of sweet memories? And? I will read one like that & the next story will have more of a build ;D

I'm just glad that I asked the "how to store fics" question early on in my addiction and thanks to the great help I got from Ella, Matron and RDMickey etc, I have them all sorted in Calibre with ratings, read, types of Edwards (thanks Ella for that particular gem), type of fic, I even have a flounce column! (that tells me what I have to revisit.) I just wish there was a option for someone reading them out loud to me while I carry on with the things I should be doing!  :D :D But seriously I'd recommend Calibre for keeping things straight.

I Get ya! I'm all for "getting busy" straight out the gate, that chemistry, lust whatever, but love? No. That need to be developed. The most annoying examples are actorwards falling head over heels in a day with a nobody, every actor I have ever met are so insular and on guard of being exploited for their "fame" that they'll f u c k someone but they are not moving them into their house and calling them their girlfriend in a week....Spy Games comes to mind as a fic that tackled the lust/love angle quite well..it was obvious that this Edward and Bella were in lust with each other and then after some plot development it morphed to something else..All fics are fantasy so no one expects too much realism but still, they can be more realistic...my rant over  :D. Now what the hell am I going to read next!

I finally found a fic that I liked!!! And with Thee Fade Away by Derdriu oFaolain (it is posted somewhere around here).

Summary: On her first day of school, Bella stands up to Edward: Forks' own psychotic jerk. Little does she know, Edward
is a centuries-old Englishman with a taste for human blood. Will they fall in love, or kill each other first?

I completelly fall in love with this Edward. I literally couldn't put it down, but I had to sleep a few hours :P I have about 50 pages left. I love the style of writing, simple yet not stupid. Anyone read anything from this author?

I don't really mind when it's just a sweet, romantic story about a normal couple. The worst is when the story supposed to be "heavy angst" and comes of as humorous :P

Don't forget to read the Outtakes in Into the Forest

(Sorry, can't link from my iPad but i know it's on here).

Also, another rec. A couple pages back we were talking about other stories that Kharizzmatik (author of EP) wrote. Her story Pinky Swear is really good.  Some angst, humor, a great Jake and a E&B HEA, which is why she wrote the story.  (No spoiler-- she states her reason at the beginning of the first chapter.) It was written after EP.  Go read it. . . :)
