Why are you guys reading Season-of-Our-Discontent contest fics?

I have no idea what contest fics this is, I wanted something quick to read before I launched myself into a multi-chapter and clicked on this and My Way...from previous posts. No biggie, it is a well written, bit of heart-fail just not want I wanted right at that moment, but a good rec.

Can someone explain to me why Edward always gives Bella a bracelet with charms?

Is this an American thing?
The first couple of fics I thought it was sweet. Now it just soooooo predictable.

WTF. Who recommended this?! It is the saddest thing ever and it's a OS so there is no redemption! I ended up reading it with only one eye open, kind of squinting...I'm not a happy chappy at the moment, I need something funny quick to eradicate this fic from my brain... :'(

Maybe I'm not feeling overly sentimental tonight.  I thought that was absolutely fantastic!  I know it was sad as hell but the writing and the way the author pulled you in was brilliant.

It must be an American thing - you are lucky if a British guy picks you a daisy!

I agree; it was really well written but too sad for a "OK let's read something quick/light before I move onto LAMTAF"  :D :D

It goes back to the original books, she got a charm bracelet from Jacob at some point, with a wolf on it and then Edward put a diamond heart on it to represent him, it was an intrinsic element of the original story. I think as much as one may not want to reflect on this, these are Twilight fan fictions so certain things are going to keep cropping up, like errr? I don't know, Edward's bronze hair?

Oh, I forgot about that. I thought it was just the ultimate gift for American women. What they wished their boyfriends and husbands gave them.

Edit: I'm saying American cause most fics seems to be written by them.

Not even close. I got one screw out, the rest were too darn tight. I think the problem is the screwdriver. All the ones I could find were too big for the screws, so I dug out one of those little eyeglass kids and used the screwdriver in that one, but I couldn't put enough pressure on the itty bitty thing to get the screws loose.

A screwdriver?

That's your problem right there. My "toolbox" consists of a letter opener, a butter knife and some tweezers.

And my cordless drill. I love my cordless drill!

WIPs!!!  :pulling :pulling :pulling

I like the summary though so I'll add to my stalk list, but it is her firs long multi-chap fic and she's been writing it since 2009!

Will definitely wait for it to complete before I read it.

Yeah I know.  I have made the mistake of reading WIPS that have never finished but, it seems she updated fairly recently.  I NEEDED something new.
