Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

I'd flounce that just from the spelling mistakes in the summary  :D :D :D

Bella is coming from a bad marriage that haunts her. After recieveing her Masters in Psychology she begins to embrace her submissive nature, she fines herself drawn to Edward's Dominating charater. He wants to help her fine a place of peace at his feet.

Isn't that awful. I have gotten so used to bad spelling that I didn't even notice that in the summary. I will never overlook bad grammar or txt speak but obviously I have learnt to look past spelling mistakes like those.

We don't do word counts here. So it's really weird for me when people talk about it. I have no idea if a million words is too much or not.

A million words is about 1500 pages - that is Word document pages (no double spacing) and not normal book pages.  It would probably triple the page count to put it into book size pages.

Emancipation Proclamation by Kharizzmatik was close to that.

It's really good. I didn't dare go near it until I bought an e-reader though.
If you do, make sure you have lots of tissues nearby  ;)

I don't think you'll like it. I didn't like it all that much, if I'm honest.

EP is on my "I saved it because I'm a greedy hoarder but I'll probably never read it" pile, right next to Fifty...  ^-^

Now see I liked Fifty.  But then I like CEOward.  I've yet to read a Mafiaward beyond the first chapter.  So EP is on the "I save everything and maybe I'll read it someday .....maybe"  :D :D :D :D

I think I read/skimmed about 70 chapters of Diamond in the Rough.  I keep track of it, but it will take me a while to get back to it.  When a story has as many SPaG errors as that one, I go a little crazy reading it because of the editing process in my head.  Skimming keeps me from getting too frustrated.  I'm really surprised the story is still going, though.  I have to admit I only skimmed Emancipation Proclamation.  Every chapter was so long and it was fairly repetitive.  I don't really feel like I missed anything by just skimming.  Skimming is my equivalent to flouncing, since I'm incapable of flouncing.

I have started doing the same. I have skipped massive chunks of stories. I think I've tried to read Emancipation Proclamation about ten times. I am determined to get through it all, one day.

I've yet to read a Mafiaward beyond the first chapter. "

I know!

So many mafiawards are really just douchebags with a gun, written by tween girls who have no clue what they're talking about. Usually anything involving Edward as a 'mafia prince' or Bella as a 'mafia princess' has been written by someone who has watched more episodes of Jersey Shore than actual number of books read.

CEOwards seem to fair a little better in the 'so bad it but it hurts so good' department. I don't know... maybe because the writers are old enough to hold down a job, so they have a bit more insight into the inner workings of wanting what is bad for you.

I haven't read EP because a trusted friend told me the writer "milks the melodrama", which my issue with "The Red Line". I might still read EP because I quite liked "Pinky Swear." IDK IDK... only way to find out is to read it.... but it's soooo long!

The only mafiaward I have read and like was cherry.blossomz "With the Lights Out", but that was more about ....
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
"With the Lights Out" doesn't really get into Edward's illicit activities as a hired gun, but it does delve into Carlisle's dirty work. I not only liked it for the angst-de-slowburn-UST, but it was clear the author wasn't trying to romanticize (i.e. excuse) crimelord's Carlisle's reason d'etre.  The ending was dark, not tragic (ExB happens), but not happy-happy-joy-joy either... so be warned.

I actually liked it better for the ending. Rather than make everything perfect, it was a bit ambiguous, casting a problematic light on crime families, where even if you 'win', you don't.

I flounced The Red Line by WinndSinger and Harkham`s Case by Scarlettplay recently.
Reason: both are overly dramatic and so totally unbelieveable and unrealistic that I just couldn't do it. The ideas are good in both stories and parts are well-written, but both authors go totally overboard and that destroys everything.

The Red Line was a fave..... until he went back. Then it went down hill fast. And I even tortured myself with Coloring Outside the Lines, the sequel. It. Was. Bad. *shudder*

Why bad ? was it just unnecessary or was it just badly written ?

I totally agree that The Red Line is ok and in parts really good until Edward goes back. I mean, I have some issues about a lot of things they do in bed during their two weeks since it is so very obvious that Edward has been sexually abused in a horrible way, and even though he is the one pushing Bella, it feels like she is abusing him too by allowing him to. She lets him continue in a situation that is, for him, inseperably connected with abuse, without any emotional distance to said abuse to experience her fantasies, which left a horrible taste in my mouth. And I hate that she calls their interviews "therapy". She is clearly in no way qualified as a therapist (yet), nor has he agreed to therapy (just interviews!!), and it is so unethical that it is totally UN-BELIEVEABLE that she has sex with someone whom she considers as her patient. But when he goes back, it looses all sense of reality and believeability.

Because I was so dissapointed with the way it ended, I didn`t bother with the sequel. I`d like to know why you find it so bad, because otherwise, I might be tempted to try it anyway someday when I am bored out of my mind..

Bella's been blind since she was little. Edward is the next heir to Cullen INC but to take over he has to get married and have a heir in 5 years or less. He meets Bella at Jaspers party and makes her a deal she can't refuse. ExB, JxA, AU/AH, Lemons.

Stupid is not enough to describe this story. This story is infantile. Written as if by a child in elementary school. And she needs beta ASAP.

This started as an ok fic, interesting plot. Now every new chapter there is some kind of new breakdown. How many plots and subplots that end up with someone getting shot, heart attacks,  getting hit by a car, runway kid, drug dealers, panic attacks, PTSD, more than one kid outside of marriage. And so many tantrums. Even the grandparents have tantrums. Each chapter has a different character on a screaming match. It turned into a bad soap opera.

I normally lurk on this site but I saw this and had to leave my first comment. It's Real Life is currently one of my favorite WIP's and I just don't agree that there's too much sex without meaning. The sex is very much a part of the story, and there's certainly a story there beyond the sex. If you don't like lemons I get it and respect that but never once is Edward and Bella just sitting around eating popcorn and they look at each other then start humping like wild dogs, ha! There's always a realistic reason for them to end up with their clothes off that fits with the moment in the story. Maybe give it another try when you're not pms'ing?  :P
