I usually read the last few pages of the epi/ending to make sure the couple I want to end up together, do....then I'll read with less anxiety because I know it will be okay in the end lol. I can handle any kind of angst and heartfail when I read those last couple of pages
I do that too! I just try not to on mysteries because I like to see if I can figure it out.

Unless it is giving me nightmares.   ???

Then I check it out.  :D :D :D

Now I'm thinking of flouncing The So Unknown by slywolf9. I don't think it's badly written, but it is hitting a few of my hot buttons.

I love the Jasper/Jake/Peter?whoever help Bella after Edward leaves her, but I am getting weary of the SO messed up, freaking out all the time Bella. And I do NOT like it when it's a Jasper story, and he's still in love with Alice. If they are still in love, then I find it hard to buy him falling for someone else, never mind I HATE the cheating aspect, he's mated to Alice, and Bella is macking on her BFFs husband, wtf. Much prefer when they are broken up for whatever reason.

Plus, this one is really kinda dull and, well, offering nothing different at all, at least so far.

Anyone got any GOOD Jasper fics I haven't read yet?

Have you read Relief by fiberkitty?  It's in the Index.  It's Bella/Jasper, but AH.  Not usually my thing, but it was good!

And since you read M/M, If on a Winter's Night by Touchstone67 just completed (although there is still an epi to come).  It is beyond amazing!!  Though have some kleenex close by ;) You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

Your typical Edward leaves Bella and Alice leaves Jasper, but the whys are different so please give it a chance. Plus B/J won't meet again and fall in love in a day. Will be B/J though. Hum/Vam.

It was decent....not the kind of angst I usually go for and definitely not the possessive Jasper that I prefer but it kept me entertained and I actually finished it....though it is a bit fluffy

And j and Alice are not together at all...neither her or Edward are evil as a lot of authors of j/b fics majestic them

I read that one. I remember it being ok, I finished it, but nothing awesome. Kinda blends in with everything else, without looking it up, Icouldn't tell you a thing about it other than it's Jasper/Bella, lol!

When Edward see's his mate nothing matters but her. He will do anything for her and will give up anything for her.. For his life is now all about her. NO ONE better think badly about her. NO ONE better get in his way. Nothing will stop him from claiming what is his.

Got sucked in from the summary and was met with bad grammar, bad story flow and ridiculous characters. All of characters are above and beyond normal that it's laughable. I stuck with it till the end but I regret doing so.

 >:D  I know, right!  It should have been listed as a crackfic!:D  You'd have to be on crack to understand it!  I loved it for the stupidity of it!  The funniest bit was the author insisting that she's going to leave it like this as a reminder of how she started out!  If she fixed the errors and the flow, it would be a decent crackfic!

I flounced You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login because it is STUPID! :33: :-[  This fic was the reason I stopped looking at T rated fics for a few years!  The writer sounded like a 12 year old!  Probably was too!

I want to scream! I wrote few months earlier about her other story  A Prescription for Love which is so stupid that I lack the words to describe it. This one is even more stupid. Bella was raped by Jacob since she was 14 years old and she run away when she was 18 and she gave a birth to his son which she gave away for adoption. I hate stories with rape but this one is seriously dumb! For example:

I rolled my eyes and got up from the chair. Bella stood up and pushed me back down into it. "You want the story? Here's the story. It's not pretty. My mom beat the shit out of me. I was taken away from her and placed into foster care. My foster dad, who was a nice guy, but completely clueless and immobile, took me in. My real dad is nowhere to be found. Anyhow, Billy, my foster dad, his son decided that he liked me. Jake, who was 21, liked me so much that he took everything from me. My virtue, my soul, my life. All at the age of fourteen. I was raped on a daily basis by Jake because he liked me. Once I turned eighteen, I packed my belongings and never turned back."

"It happened in July. I think he was conceived on Jacob's birthday. He was extra brutal with me that day. He turned 22 and raped me 22 times."

How can you rape someone 22 times!!!!!!!  the same day and this person talks about it like nothing happened and she acts like normal person?
“Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.”

Tufano has some great story ideas but her writing is awful.  Everyone gets bullied. So many SpaG errors. I haven't been able to finish any of the ones I've started.   :P

She really needs a good beta or two. But raped 22 times? In one day? Yeah no.   :-\

Hey there intrepid readers... I just a bunch of great stories, and being on a great run, I came across this one.... and I am not sure whether I should keep reading or not...

Has anyone read this yet????

Dissecting Edward by chynnadoll36  - Work in Progress
Edward is a 35 year old world renowned cardio-surgeon, husband and womanizer. He wants out of his marriage. His wife has other ideas. She hires the expertise of, Dr. Bella Swan, marriage therapist, to save their marriage. Is it a wise decision to bring the gorgeous Dr. Swan and your cheating husband together in hopes of fixing a failed marriage? AH E&B story rated M for LEMONS.

I love a s.o.b.-badward, and this Edward is certainly a piece of work.... if you don't like to read about Edward having meaningless sex with lots of women, don't even peek at this self-serving sex-addicted prickward.
I was quite amused by his bad-old-self, curious about what makes him tick... (besides his dick)
But then....
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Has anyone read past this point?
Does his past get magically erased once Bella enters his life?

I've got 30 more chapters to go... and I my spider BS sense is tingling. Can someone let me know if the next part
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
.
If yes, I think I better flounce.
I can't stand:   'Bella's love effortlessly cures Edward's personality disorder/addiction/infidelity' storyline ..... especially for this over-the-top jerkward.
He needs to suffer before he is redeemed.... and I love reading about a prickward suffering for his past sins. I hate it when he gets a free pass just because he's Edward and she's Bella.
 Anyone? Anyone?

It's on my TBR list.  Though I'm not really big on cheater fics.  Once a cheater, always a cheater is how it usually works.

But then this is fiction.  Bella always saves Edward just by looking at her.  Didn't you know this?? *insert sarcasm smiley here because they don't want me to link anymore*

Bella can do miracles.  Yeah, that is too much for me as well.  Though I guess you can explain it that he finally loves someone besides himself?   I'll just move that one down the list.  Far down.

Good to see you again!  :-*

Reading Twilight by Choices HP
Summary: One day a box containing four books shows up at the Cullen's house and they all decided to read them.

I started it because I liked the idea but the good idea is all it is. It is supposedly funny story but the humor is on kindergarten level. What you get is text of Meyer book with commentaries from the Cullens here and there. And it's 70% original Twilight text in the end. I was really disappointed. Won't touch the sequels for sure.

I have tried to flounce this one, but just keep on after it - like looking at a train wreck.  It goes everywhere, but there is that thread that keeps me reading, the one that wonders just how it's going to end.

And sometimes, I am just intrigued by the improbable.

There are a bunch of these out there & they have been on my TBR list for a while.  But I never get past the first few pages (on my Kindle)  I don't mind juvenile humor one shots.  I'm just not sure I can handle a whole story that way.  I want to see one where they read it before Twilight starts & fix it all.  So the bad things don't happen.  No New Moon.  Like Reboot by Diana Law.

Thanks I won't bother trying to read it again.  ;D

I know!  I see some good writing, but then there are a lot of moments that just don't make sense for the characterizations. I keep hearing that old soap opera organ with every scene. .. and I am getting sucked in!
Maybe if he wasn't a top cardiac surgeon, I would be able to accept his motivations and the way he treats people
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
What kept me going was Bella's character, and yes, I am just sooooo curious about him.... but I think I will force myself to flounce and leave it in your capable hands.

Will you do me a favor? [imagine a big eyed Thumper blinkie inserted here]. Can you give us your verdict when it ends? Let us know if the good bad outweighs the bad bad ?

Okay, I had to find another fic fast, or I will reopen that page and dag-nabbit... I don't want to be sucked in again, chasing after that train wreck like a lawyer.  I'm loving "Not Going There" by luckyirishtart... at last: behavior that fits the situation.

Thanks ladies!

Thank you for volunteering... but I don't know if I'll be able to keep away because I was thinking about it today. I think I'm sucked in.... arrrg!

Let me know what you think of 'cops in love'!

Officer Bella and Deputy Cullen might be a little 'too good to be true' in this, but I like the set up so far, and the romance is working for me.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

It has scored points with me so far because Bella has a kid that isn't perfect.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I think writing about kids is one of the hardest things to do credibly: without rose-colored glasses or cutesie cliches. I have often groaned because I don't like how the kids are portrayed (and this is true for published fics, too). Too often they seem to be written as cool little adults, lisping Disney robots, or babies that conveniently sleep during the drama/sexcapades.

I remember this one story I really enjoyed, but cringed when I read DILFward was painting his bar one Sunday... with the help of his four yr old son. The little kid carries in two cans of paint.... I thought: this writer does not know kids.... or painting.   ^-^ It was actually a great romance, but the author really got the age of the little boy wrong. He acted more like a ten to twelve yr old.... not four.

Does anyone have a story they liked, but thought the kids were too annoying or unrealistic? Or how about an unwanted pregnancy story, but a always happy and trouble-free baby brings Bella and Edward together?

I think that was Finn from Paper CutOuts. I thought he was cute but it was amazing how he could pronounce the letter "r" in one breath and then substitutes it for a "w" sound in the next. Eg:

"Finn, man, what are you doing?" I groan and swat at his little hand gently.

"You've been asleep for forever," he informs me. I open my eyes and he's sitting on the coffee table in front of me, swinging his legs back and forth. "And I'm hungry. And bored."

He leans up on his elbows and smiles his big smile. "I want ice cweam

Please be consistent.

They either dumb the kid down or they're complete geniuses lol. When a kid in a fic is close in age to my own I often compare the two and not once have they got it right !!

What the hell is a " yummy tropical pussy," ?

And then edward calls bella Puss. That is his lovely nickname for her.

Plot wise, it's cliche.

The first time Alice meets Bella she invites herself over for a sleepover. Edward is staying at her couch cause he saw someone suspicious outside Bella's door. So Alice shares a bed with Bella. Cause that is what you do when your dad hires a new employer.

I think that was Finn from Paper CutOuts. I thought he was cute but it was amazing how he could pronounce the letter "r" in one breath and then substitutes it for a "w" sound in the next.
They either dumb the kid down or they're complete geniuses lol. When a kid in a fic is close in age to my own I often compare the two and not once have they got it right !!

That's the one! I liked the budding romance, the two misfits that find a way to fit together, but the ending was a bit 'meh'. Too... perfect....  if that makes any sense?

I will put up with some improbable situations, because I know it's romance, and so there is a fantasy element to it. I get pretty annoyed when I see that fantasy-life extended to little kids (or parenting for that matter.) I don't know why I am so intolerant on this topic , I just know it really bugs me. I think maybe it's like that 'Toddlers and Tiaras' fantasy. It seems patently unfair (even cruel)  to put these expectations on kids, just to fill a parent fantasy.

I don't like too many Bella High School teen pregnancy or Player 17-yr old Richboy Edward romances. I can't make the mental leap into fantasy because I can't seem to find a molecule of truth behind the characterizations, and I need that to enjoy the drama.

Geekward secretly loves popular Bella, and her search to lose her V-card finds her seeking out an obliging Edward. I actually liked the premise, it's hard to find a teen B that isn't shy, but I found the writing too crass to be funny.  The constant over-the-top descriptions along with Bella's annoying pornstar inner-dialogue made them cartoon-ish and just... unlikeable.

****

That said, I love finding a teen story (published or fanfic) that hasn't forgotten that teens get more wrong than right when it comes to sex 'n' drugs 'n rock 'n roll, but they have such amazing power when it comes to friendships, love, loyalty, and reinvention.

I really like purelyamuse's take on teens (all completed - yayz!). This author remembers that teens only seem awkward to adult eyes. When in the High School hallways, it's just business as usual as they figure it all out... or don't. BONUS: This author always posts regularly, and she usually finishes her stories before posting them.  You are not allowed to view links. Take What You Want by purelyamuse
Based on January 2012 witfit prompts. Though Bella's known Edward for years, they've just started hanging out. His crass, smelly boy self is not appealing, but his looks and charm are. How will she deal with her feelings for the gross, flirty boy?

I love this Edward's bluster. He's confident, he's an a s s and you don't know whether to kick him or kiss him. I remember as a teen loving/hating the teasing from boys. It was how they flirted: by pointing out all your flaws, and laughing at the stupidest things. So ANNOYING! No angst... and I still loved it! Can you believe it?

Masen Days by purelyamuse
Bella meets Masen at the local skate park. He's a quiet, mysterious loner. She wants to help him, love him even. Will he let her? Or will he skate away like he always does? AH. 3rd Place Winner in the Boys on Boards contest! Now an EXPANDED multi-chap!

Yup, annnnnngsty and UST unffffff... my all-time fav combo.  This skateboarder Edward is actually a faithful characterization of the whys and hows of troubled boys. No melodramatization of angst in this very real-to-life story of a kid hanging on the edge, and how hard it is to get to them.  I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this author has worked with teens. (Hint: read the EPOV prequel after this story. Heavy on the angst, but so poignantly beautiful as we get a glimpse at why he was so resilient despite it all.)

If you like HS romance without all the angst, she has a funny WIP I am loving called:
Never Said I Didn't by purelyamuse
Edward is finally ready to play ball, but is Bella? Is it too late? The bases are loaded. He's just waiting for Bella to give him the signal to run. EPOV, Human, HS, Light Angst.

I believe she has finished writing this story, and it now posting it out. I looove it when authors do that. Something to look forward to in my in-box twice a week, and no risk of abandonment  ;)

I love this Edward whose confidence and popular jock also means he's pretty clueless when it comes to matters of the heart. It's written in all in EPOV,  but you can just see Bella rolling her eyes, and shaking her head. This cocky baseballer boy's ineptitude attempts at getting her back is an excellent example of a flawed character told in a limited POV. He doesn't have a clue, and he doesn't know that he doesn't have a clue. So funny!

The inner dialogue reads like a teen boy: all cocky and confident one minute (and so full of it) , and the next... just out of his depth.  You cab just see the confused look on his face.  They mean well - but man - some of them are so dumb when it comes to girls. I laughed out loud when I read about Edward taking his shirt off so he can impress Bella and Jake does the same. I remember those cocky twits.... as if that is all you wanted when you were a teen girl - beefcake and free sex. It took a little more than that when it came to a boyfriend material, right ladies?
