Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

I will definitely give these a go as you recc'd them but if I'm left thinking "WHY THE HELL ARE THESE NOT LONGER!!!" I'll be looking for you!  :-*

On Another Note. I think my eyes are bleeding, reading How To Marry A Movie Star by Red(something or other) Jesus, this isn't....*shakes head* I have no words...and I had to go back and re-read Date, which I know I didn't enjoy the first time round but I couldn't remember the ins and outs of the story. I really wanted to think that she'd have gotten better with experience but this is a bunch of lemons held together by the odd paragraph, and not very good paragraphs to boot!  >:(

I am just down the road from you, so I will be easy to find.  :D :D :D :D

Obviously it is something you should give up.  I didn't find How To Marry A Movie Star  all that offensive because believe me I have read a lot worse.

Looks like Jonesn is going to publish Bear Creek.  She's posted a snippet of edits being done to change the story over.  I didn't know she's published books under L.C. Morgan.  She says she's published The Savage and the Saint.  Anyone read it?  Was it fanfiction first?

I keep meaning to read Bear Creek as so many peeps online have rec'd it but just never got round to it.
Just reading the blurb for TSatS reads like it could be a fanfic.  ;D

I really wish they showed this version of the FSoG trailer - I seriously can't stop laughing at it and how The Roots react is just classic.  :D :D

I liked the first two but the Marry one was a disappointment. Guess she was busy having the first one published while writing this third one... :(

Okay so I guess a lot of people got upset...I really didn't think about in plaigiarism terms. No I don't write fanfiction. Was just trying to help out in the hazing process. It would have never been published, nor would any material items would have been gained. Just some college seniors would have been satisfied...

But okay, I'll abandon this pursuit

I admire that you want to help out a friend. But what you were helping him with was really...bad. In some cases that could be called "aiding and abetting" or being an "accomplice". I understand you are young, being in college and doing this for hazing. But at that age, you should already know what is right and wrong. Hope you learn from this experience.

Yes you are, expect a list for Sainsbury's... :D  And you know I can't "give up"  >:(  Flouncing is not in my DNA.....Which means I'm in it til the end..Christ!

It's cringing me out ever time she makes reference to Edward 'eating her out'!  Its so inappropriate for this Bella  (romantic novelist, virgin at 23 (yawn) all round good girl) and don't get me wrong the lemons aren't 'bad' but there are way too many and the rest is just...blah....

I did finally finish the Lola-Shoes trilogy. With lots of skimming.  I think a lot of Twific readers and writers tend to think the more lemons the better. And any story that could be there gets lost in the lemons. As in the writer loses it.  I tend to prefer less. After the first one? They are all anticlimactic for me.

So I understand your frustration and am extremely glad I can not only skim but flounce if it gets too bad.  Unless I have to read it. Sometimes being the grammar and spelling police is not so fun.

I enjoyed Lola's story a hell of a lot more than this? And I agree it was pretty lemons heavy but she's is also a much, much better writer so the quality of the whole experiences was streets ahead.  At the moment I'm just trying to get through it. I'm working from home tomorrow so I'm ploughing full steam til I finish the trilogy, I'm on Live. Ella you should get paid  I don't know how you do it......

At this point, I guess I don't mind admitting that the less lemons to a story that hopefully has a plot, the happier I am.   I have a friend who I don't even like discussing books with anymore (not the one who I trade with and who has the online book swap). I'm so tired of hearing that the book is terrific - of course it is - all sex and has werewolves, vampires, shapeshifters and/or other supernatural creatures and is probably written by Lora Leigh and/or Christine Feehan or is erotic as in nothing but nonstop sex.  I DON'T CARE - PAM - Get a life!   Give me InDeath, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lucinda Riley, Marion Zimmer Bradley (now Deborah Ross),Anne McCaffrey's Pern, Nora Roberts - something with an actual plot and funny conversations - a good fic when/ if I can find the time.  She wasn't interested in Fifty Shades until she heard Craig Fergusen on the late, late show talking about all the sex in the book and she absolutely had to read it because Craig talked about the sex so it must be good.  I managed to talk her out of it - and then it fell off her radar for whatever reason.   Pam's the one who tried to get me to read Twilight and then she used the trigger word for me which was TERRIFIC which immediately made me lose interest.   On the other hand, Linda simply mentioned she was reading Twilight and I actually heard her - we share an interest in a  number of the same authors - if she was reading Twilight then maybe I should read it.  I borrowed from her - which worked for the first 3 books.  It took her awhile to get Breaking Dawn to me.  Her mother was ill and dying (she was 99) - so she was a little pre-occupied.  I ended up going to the library for it (miracle of miracles it was in) and then I stopped into Annie's Bookstop on the way home to see if she had any copies (she did and I bought it which then meant I had two copies in my possession) and then I got home and found Linda had dropped off her copy of BD on my doorstep - talk about ridiculous.  Sorry for the brief rant - I had to listen to another "you have to read such and such a book - its terrific" conversation on the phone again tonight before I came online.  No I don't need to read the book thank you - just like I don't need to see a tv show because its " terrific" - thank god I went to basic cable - she can't tell me I need to watch something anymore because I don't get the channel.  I wish she'd find another adjective.  Okay - rant over.  I feel much better now.

Nothing wrong with a good rant I say. I do it frequently, much to my husband's dismay.  :D . I always feel better when I am done. So I have to ask, do you feel better having gotten that off your chest? As for Pam, have you tried to tell her that you have different tastes that she does, and that although you are happy that she enjoyed the show, book, etc, please stop recommending them to you? Just a thought.

It goes in one ear and right out the other.   I have a hard enough time trying to get her not to keep calling Lora Leigh Lorna.  I don't even read Lora/Lorna but I at least call her by her right name.   She's also more or less stopped asking me if I've seen such and such a show now because she's more or less remembered that I only get 20 channels now so its useless to ask me if I've seen oh - say Rizzoli and Isles, Dr. Who, anything on BBC America, etc.  She hates reality tv so I can at least get my revenge by bringing up Survivor, Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, Bachelor/Bachelorette, Celebrity Apprentice, and things like C-Span and OWN - neither of which either of us watches - her never - me sometimes.   She can't even get her damned passwords right - she can't get on InDeath.net anymore because the site doesn't like her password and AJ is pissed off at her because she can't even get the passwords right that AJ gives her.  I was blunt and told her why she can't get on anymore and why AJ refuses to help anymore.  AJ doesn't have the patience to put up with her (or anyone else that's dense). You can't get your own password right, you are shit out of luck.  Pick one damned password and stick with it instead of half a dozen for more than one site.   I also didn't let her know I'm now on facebook either.   She can't get Jeremy Irons and his son Max straight either which is really stupid considering the age difference.  and I think this is my second rant?  I did manage to get her to stop picking up Star Trek books, Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel and Jayne Anne Krentz(aka Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle).  I said no and I mean NO - Don't pick them up secondhand.  I've read all but the latest,  How do I know which is the latest?  Try looking at the copyright date?  Just don't pick them up period.  I have to pick my battles.   I don't have the room meaning I don't have the room meaning don't pick them up.  She got the message.

I am sorry to hear that she is such a handful. I am not sure that I could stay friends with someone like that. She sounds like she is just self centred. I mean, she doesn't really listen to what you have to say. Not much of a friend if you ask me. Friends listen and accept you are different than they are. Good luck with her.

Well, I love Actorward. So I put up with a lot to get my fix.  ;)

This has me worried, I've wanted to read the How to Date Movie Star trilogy, and evidently I was reading some of it as a WIP, but I haven't read any of it in quite a while.
One of the rare few....

tricklem - there is a t-shirt somewhere on/in a catalog with CRS as a saying on it.  I couldn't tell you which one - its probably online these days - I originally saw it in a mail order catalog - paper version but I don't get many catalogs in the regular mail these days.   Another one of life's simple guilty pleasures done in by the internet.

It's so weird how so many of us like an actorward...I've a weak spot for sure...but I have to have a bit more. I'm not saying DO NOT READ THIS, I just can't in all conscience recommend it either, especially if you can't flounce; a trilogy is way, way too much.

For all Rob lovers - Robsessed is Livestreaming the Guy Pearce/Rob q/a session from Great Britain this morning.  Check Robsessed for GMT - EST is 8:55 pm.   and evidently Queen of the Desert had a screening in Hollywood last night and Rob got fabulous tweets from people who saw the movie.   Why waste his time with 50 Shades when he can get great reviews for Queen and get to work with Nicole Kidman and with Guy Pierce on Rover.

Thanks for the heads-up hun. :-* :-*
I was thinking of reading them as they're all complete now and I keep reading good things about this trilogy.
But like you hun, I can't flounce and when I try and leave a fic/book and start something else my Catholic gene comes out in full force and I start to feel guilty that I've tried to abandoned something, so I always go back and finish it even if I rather have someone shove a red hot poker up my arse, than read it.  :o :o :D :D

From that list, I think I only truly enjoyed a handful of the recs mentioned :( I started on the Redtini stories awhile back after reading the intriguing summary for the movie star trilogy, but I flounced a few chapters in and I can't remember why,

Actorward discussion has me wanting to attempt re-reading Help Wanted, which I flounced, because it's SO LONG and I got about 20 chapters in and nothing was happening. I guess when your story is 600,000+ words! the plot moves at the slowest pace ever!  ???

looooord! I just used ficsave to convert Help Wanted to epub and it's like 2800 pages!!! There goes my weekend
