Demaris - someone did write it already - Its Resent by sistergrimm.  She took a break from it when she joined the service.  She's supposedly rewriting it (AU and New Moon categories) on Twilighted.  I think its also up on ff.net.

Now to me?  This is semi-canon. Non canon would be Rose and Carlisle. Or Rose and Jasper. Can you imagine?

Why would Charlie and Leah be semi non canon? I don't see that myself what about Bella & Paul in that case or Bella & Jacob?  Come to think of it what about Rose & Bella - You are not allowed to view links. PLEASE DO! I think that's why all the 'secret' kids in a Daddyward story are always so young, it's easier, from the authors POV I mean, no messy teenage abandonment issues to have to contend with.

Oh God! I hate that Windchymes story! Utter nonsense! There's another AH one where E/B have a baby after they 'rub' their naked privates against each other; Bella goes into labour and has no idea what's happening, I can't for the life of me remember the name of that story...

I have to stop posting so I can finish that f*ing So Right But so Wrong! Good Night everyone!!
LOL! I looked at this story.  So for starters? Wouldn't read it because it is a teacher/hs student and that kind of bothers me.  Even if it is her first ever job.  Especially because it is her first ever job. She won't get another one if she ends up with a student.

Then in the first paragraph - "...this would be my first appointment since qualifying with a first class honors degree in teaching English Literature."

Yeah.  Here in the US we don't have first class honors degrees.  And normally you go to a regular university or college, get a bachelors degree in English and then a teaching credential.  So the first thing I think is "British writer who knows nothing about the American school system and doesn't even try to check it out."  Strike one.  Set it in London.  Or some small town in the middle of nowhere England.  I'm told they exist ;)

I really don't have a problem when they make one of the characters British so that all these inconsistencies fit.  Bella just moved here from England or maybe Canada - do they have the same school setup?  And then go on.

Yeah, this is not good.....  :P

The sparkle part always makes me think of young girls with their sparkly pony toys.  Or unicorns. LOL!

But I never got why thhad such a problem with the Gold eyes. My cat has very pretty gold/yellow eyes. How hard could it be to get that color?

Mine too! Cats are so lucky, and so are the people that have eyes that change with the seasons~ I just think of gold/yellow eyes as a characteristic of a cat. If I saw someone IRL with gold eyes, I would not moon over how beautiful they are, I'd probably be wondering how the hell this person has cat eyes.

Yes it is good Supercreep - I'm being an optimist on her coming back and finishing it.   She left it up until she rewrote enough of it to put up in place of what she did write.  She got us all good and hooked and then she went into basic training.  and yeah Tony is one angry kid with daddy issues.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Sorry Supercreep, I was ranting about the story Demaris is reading that Loopy told us NOT to read because it was so bad.

Bloodlines by Windchymes was kind of sweet. Poor Edward was practically attacked by some girl not long before he was changed. From everything I understand about the change,  he very likely didn't remember it and so the story makes sense. Except that the summary indicates he was hiding it from Bella.  I think he was hiding it from himself. ;)

I Saw You Coming by SaritaDreaming right?  It and several others by her have been up on Twilighted for awhile.  It may seem familiar because she takes forever to post chapters and when she does update she updates at least 3 stories at a time.  She's also got I Want It Painted Black and one or two others that I can't remember off the top of my head.   I stopped reading it at some point because I was afraid she'd abandoned it.

While I'm still thinking of it - there was a fic up on Twilighted at one time under AU in which Renesmee hates her parents -especially her mother. She's teenager and she thinks Bella is a bitch and that her dad is henpecked. I can't remember the title or the author but it was funny - I was in the middle of it when it got pulled.  That's the problem with fics - just when you are really getting into one - the author pulls it.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
My biggest problem is I've lost a few Kindles over the years, so I may have started it on one of them when they died and forgotten I was reading them when the new Kindle arrived.  It's better now that I have Calibre. Though I don't update it as much as I should for things like "read"

Someday, I will catch up.  ;)

SkyDrive is now OneDrive. I have an account and I'm currently saving my Calibre library as back-up there. I like it better than copy.com, but didn't have a lot of time to explore it yet. I prefer dropbox tbh, but my library won't ever have 2 GB again. I'm at 7 GB at the moment, so I had to look into other clouds.

Yeah, this is not good.....  :P

I wish it bothered me, the teacher/student element, I really wish this was the biggest problem with this story. It gave me whiplash, I think this is the most 'British' fanfiction I've read (in terms of language, colloquialisms, etc) and no one in the fic was! Bella had the Cullens over for Sunday dinner and decided to go the 'traditional' route with roast beef and Yorkshire puddings?! If that is traditional US Sunday dinner it's the first I've heard, do you even have a 'traditional Sunday dinner', US wide? Bella and Edward sit in a restaurant Bella orders wine (she's 22) Edward (18 almost 19) says "bloody Americans" and their over 21 drinking restriction why can't they have the lower age limit like the UK. Now, I'm sure lots of American teenagers grumble about not  being able to drink but would they say bloody Americans when they are one? The writing is soooooo nonsensical and bad, I know I say this all the time but this hits 'bad writing' out the park! It's cringingly (that's not a word but, whatever) clear that this is a older woman writing her fantasy but doing so really immaturely, if I'd read. "You are my life now" one more time I was going to smash something.  There came a point as I was nearing the end where I was just having to laugh, shake by head, put my iPad down, walk it off, before continuing. What I can say positively about it is there were very few SPaG mistakes, so yeah! for the British education system..... :D :D Loopy Girl I still love you, just.  :-*

Traditional Sunday dinner - at least when I was growing up was actually the noon meal - either ham, a casserole, steak and potatoes, a roast.   Since its summer, traditional would be to barbecue hamburgers or whatever on the grill and invite friends - for a lot of people - if its my parents who are in their 80's (and my father has Alzheimer's and doesn't get up until well after 11 am - Sunday dinner is now sometime mid-afternoon) and my mother will bake or broil fish, bake a couple of chicken breasts - something simple - just the two of them - less confusing for my father not to screw up his routine and throw him all off by inviting anyone else including kids.  Yorkshire pudding would have been more my great-grandmother's thing back in the 1950s and 60s.  and I would agree with you - if you are writing a fic that's supposed to be in the US and you are based in the UK - do a little bit of research.   I've read several fics that were based in Maine and the writers actually went to the trouble to do research before writing the fic.  I did take issue with Jenny Cullen regarding her placing the University of Maine in Orono in a neighboring town - her reasoning being that no one outside of Maine would have heard of Orono but they had heard of Bangor (Stephen King country).   Personally I don't think she was giving her readers much credit - do you know how large the Orono campus is and how many out-of-staters go there?   and yes we even have indoor plumbing.  and I am being facetious sort of.  I keep remembering the story my mother told of my great grandfather who was from the Bronx (by way of England) and my great grandmother who moved to Maine in the 40's in the country and she raised chickens.  Papa's sister Grace took the train from New York City to Maine to visit them.  She was so appalled by their living conditions that she turned around and went back to New York city and never came back to Maine (her attitude was funny because  she made it sound like they lived in a shack and it was actually a nice house with indoor plumbing and hot and cold running water.)

I just can't with the past and present flipping in this story.

Yesss!!! Past and present stories drive me insane, especially when authors do it throughout the whole story or have a huge slow burn to get to the present. Thankfully in present form, we have Bella speaking to her daughter about life so we know we have a somewhat happy outlook for the future of the story.

From what I remember
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

LOL at me. Before I thought about it I was going to say, the angst wasn't that bad!! Until I remembered all that happened.
