  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #6 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

  • Life is all about balance.
So, I just saw this post from Sarge's Girls and figured I would share the info.

Hey, Sarge's Girls!

Sorry for making you think there was a new chapter, but Deb & I have some news!

As you all know, the fandom has come together many times to help support a charity of one kind or another by writing/donating for a fandom compilation. This time, it's not a charity, per se, but a member of the fandom in need. Per the compilation's website:

"On July 20th, Christy Pellicano -known to many as DeansHoneyBear- lost her husband, Daniel, after a brief but extremely intense battle with Cancer. During the course of Daniel's illness, Christy's heart was breaking, but her strength was unchallenged. In addition to being chief medical consultant, transportation provider and morale officer throughout, Christy never let her first and foremost role as Danny's mom falter, making sure that Danny got to spend all the time possible with his dad.

The willing sacrifices that Christy made did not come free, however. Medical bills have piled up. Every day expenses continue to be due. And Danny continues to need the things growing boys need, especially with school starting up again."

To contribute, we wrote an In Pursuit outtake, one we think you guys will just love. It's a look ahead in the lives of Marshalward and Accountantella, as well as all their family. To support Christy and Danny and to get our outtake along with all the other stories from all the great contributing authors (for example: Bornonhalloween, SexiLexiCullen, Tufano, Dishie, & more!), check out their website: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. If you donate $10 or more, you'll get the compilation on Friday, October 3rd. We will post our outtake here, but it'll be a few months before we're able to, so donate to a really worthy cause, help support a fandom member in need, and get it early, why don'tcha?

You can check out a teaser for it below, but first, don't forget (or in case you haven't heard about it) that you still have time to help us out with our Adopt-A-US-Soldier care package! Check our Facebook page for more info, or review and we can give you more details.

I've not read Sideline...I came to the conclusion today that I really, really do have to many books/fics to read, the sheer choice is making me crazy when it comes to settling on something.  I might try the old 'read by date added' method again, that sometimes works for a while; then use the 'read in alphabetical order' when I get bored.  :( :P

I do this too  8) 8) 8)  The amount of FF/Books on my TBR list is overwhelming!! I force myself not to think about it *ahahaha.. If it was up to me I would read all day, but kiddies make it impossible. I can sneak in pages here and there sometimes, but otherwise I'm up until midnight reading as much as I can before I pass out!  :) :P

Last week I thought 'a couple of shortish, frivolous, stories and then on to tackle Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles' but every time I seem to pick up my iPad something else will catch my eye and it all up for debate again! How I managed to read four books this weekend is a mystery to me....

This makes me excited too!   Love Rainbow.  ;)
I wish that one of our cats were a little bit like Rainbow but unfortunately they're all nuts - though that shouldn't surprise anyone considering I'm their owner.  :P :P :P

I've tried reading books/fics by "date added" - never works for me as I get distracted by a new release or rec on here.  :D :D

I personally think you should let us take turns voting on what you should read next! LOL   That would be much more exciting than "read by date added" or alphabetical order, for sure!

I've somehow managed to keep my TBRfic list to <50.  I try not to add something new until I've read something to take off the list.   Now, my "real book" TBR list is totally out of control...   well, for me anyway.  I think it's in the 600's which is way too high!   I know some of you guys have lists in the 1000's, right?  :o :o :o

I somehow think that Mrs F wouldn't let me vote on what she reads next as she doesn't trust me.  :D :D

The last time I counted my "real book" TBR it was at around 20,000 and my fic TBR was around about 5000!!!
I really need to stop buying books and start reading them.  :P :P

Oh how I hate that!!!  I really can't think of anything that puts me off a story more.  No matter how good the plot, if it is riddled with those type of errors, I'm out.
